Stopped by for a quick bite around lunch time and it was worth it! Delicious. Went with the chicken club and recommend if you're not sure what to try. Seeing it has slices of apple, seemed interesting but honestly gives it a good flavor! Would definitely come back. The staff was nice and there's seating available towards the back of the restaurant. Depending on the time you come, it might be packed but I went around 12:30 and wasn't busy. Laid back atmosphere. Check em out! read more

DELICIOUS! Came in today for some a quick breakfast and the lady at the front with the red hair , Gigi was very kind and funny. And it was actually cool and chill today. The other young lady at the register had great customer service too, I was greeted once I walked it. Got coffee and plain bagel, so yum and came out really fast too. Thx Rittenhouse team ! 5/5 stars~~ read more

Spread Bagelry on 20th has been one of my neighborhood breakfast spots since 2017, and it never disappoints. Before coming here, I'd never really experienced Montreal-style bagels, and now I absolutely love them. The wood-fired finish gives them a slightly crisp exterior while still staying chewy inside, and they're equally great as breakfast sandwiches or with schmears. I usually order the sausage, egg, and cheese. I think the technical "standard" sandwich on the menu is bacon, egg, and cheese, but I'm a sausage guy. Add a coffee or juice, and it's a perfect low-key breakfast. The setup is excellent: indoor seating, outdoor tables, quick service, and enough variety to make it feel like a true breakfast spot rather than just a bagel counter. The staff is always warm and helpful, and they feel like true Philly locals. You can tell this place was built with love. Spread also complements places like Kismet really well. Philly's lucky to have both. Different styles, different vibes, both excellent. My appreciation for this place even pushed me to visit St-Viateur in Montreal after seeing it featured on Somebody Feed Phil. That trip made me appreciate Spread even more because these bagels absolutely hold up. There's also a great Philly episode of the show. Spread offers fair pricing for consistently excellent food and is a reliable neighborhood staple. It's great seeing them continue to expand around Philadelphia. Highly recommended! read more

Stopped by today with a friend for a quick breakfast. The team behind the counter is friendly and efficient. 8 bucks for a bagel with cream cheese is a bit steep, but hey that's center city and they do come with a heaping amount of cream cheese. I got the sesame bagel with cinnamon sugar cream cheese and it was delicous. I'm not the biggest fan of Spread's bagels, they are a little too bready for me, but still tasty! My friend got the rosemary bagel with scallion cream cheese that she raved about. Spread isn't always my first choice for bagels, but I'll still pop by time to time and it's always good, just not my favorite read more

Ordered an egg white sandwich and had such a hefty serving for what I ordered! Bagel was delicious and worth it in my opinion!

I like this bagel spot! I am not sure what Montreal style is but they are good bagels with great flavor options - my favorite is sea salt rosemary bagel. Their cream cheese flavors are also amazing - honey pistachio, bacon, lox, etc. They have coffee and actual breakfast sandwiches as well like egg and cheese. The rittenhouse location has indoor seating but it's also close to rittenhouse park and is the perfect takeaway to enjoy outside on the benches or a picnic. great affordable casual breakfast spot in an area of a lot of expensive options. They do catering as well. read more

Ordered the egg white sandwich with scallion cream cheese. The cream cheese was so good, the sandwich was warm and delicious. Forget about NYC Bagels for a sec: this one takes the CAKE!! Impeccable, consistent and savory that has kept its charm for YEARS with its BYOB alcohol policy, oven roasted bagels, and irresistible combinations like the "Egg White" with lite Swiss, truffled mushrooms, Turkey bacon and egg white. You can feel the scent of freshly baked bagels, each one stacked high with bold, creative toppings. The bagels are soft yet perfectly toasted, and characteristic ambiance of classy chic somehow works despite being served coffee and bagels. Whether you're craving a classic or something a little more adventurous, there's gonna be something for your palate. I was blown away by the variety and to more inventive options like the artichoke parm cream cheese paired with a poppy seed bagel. The balance of flavors in every bite is incredible, and the freshness of the ingredients makes all the difference. If you're a bagel lover or simply looking to try something new, this shop is worth every penny. And you'll just keep coming back for more no matter where you live... read more

Worst cream cheese ever. Any grocery cream cheese is way better than this place. THE WORST EVER! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MEAL.

Honestly really disappointed. Ordered via DoorDash - iced mocha, plain untoasted bagel with butter, and side order of bacon. Latte had a pool of chocolate syrup at the bottom and would not mix, wasn't given a straw. Bagel was toasted with next to no butter so it hardened quickly and wasn't great. Bacon was literally iced cold and covered in grease. And to top it off, there were long hairs wrapped up in the wrapper of my bagel. The bagels taste as if they were made fresh, which is great, but they have a hint of sweetness to them that I just don't like. They also don't have the "chew" that I'm looking for. However, they are fresh and bready and fill up my belly . Their spread is extremely good. read more

I keep getting disappointed by Spread, so I think I'm done. The reason? I always find the bagels to have a bitter taste from a little bit of char, which I do not find appealing. Spread is also super popular, so it takes a long time for your order to come out - including if you order in advance online - so for me, the combination of a so-so bagel and a long wait are not worth it. Warning: If you have any respiratory issues, you might want to stay outside this small eatery. The bagels are made with a wood-fire in front of you, which is actually pretty cool to watch, but smoke tends to fill the space. You will definitely leave with your clothes smelling like a campfire and even without an underlying respiratory illness, I felt a twinge of bronchospasm in my chest. read more

Spread Bagelry - Because one bagel just didn't seem like enough this morning... - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This place was great. It was warm and inviting with good service. The bagels are delicious and they have a wood fire oven that is super cool. I got the egg white sandwich. It came out very quick. My only complaint was that it was a bit messy and oily. Just a bit less oil and it would have been perfect. The cinnamon raisin bagel my friend got was also good but nothing too crazy. Overall, solid bagel and coffee place with a nice homey vibe inside. read more

Never even heard of a Montreal style bagel, but I'm sold! Crispy outside, chewy inside absolutely delish. I'll be back

Too be treated w/ such disrespect is an understatement... I had a catering order that I was the driver for...the KOP staff wasn't prepared, telling me they didn't receive it until 15mins after I was onsite, even though I had it since 12pm the prior day.. they took their frustration out on me, being very condescending and rude, to the point I felt uncomfortable and waited in my car for completion and for my company to get further directions... when I returned to retrieve my order, they have given it away...and the cashier real aggressively kept asking where I was and they sent it out the back door so they will get my tip and payment... the distance and time I spent to make this order is insane..and for these businesses to continue to take advantage of people bc they feel as though they can is unacceptable...im a single parent of a non verbal/IDD child...this is the only way i can make income at this time...and to be treated like this is sad.. read more

I spread my wings and landed over in this Montreal style bagel joint. The inside is pretty neat, and I really enjoyed the freest aspect of everything. The wood fire takes over the entire store front and it's the first thing that hits you in the face. Very neat. The underwhelming part of this joint is the price and the mishap I had with my order. See below... What I snagged: -Whitefish everything bagel with all the fixings. (Bagel isn't better than any NY bagel, but it'll do. What wasn't great was the bone found in my white fish that got stuck between my teeth. I get it, it's fresh, but come on) Overall, cool experience, but not sure I'll be back. Pricing wise, the whitefish was a little steep. Roughly $12-13. read more

True Life: I am addicted to Spread Bagelry. I did not know anything about Montreal Style bagels until Spread opened up in my neighborhood, but I've decided they're my favorite. My order is consistently a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a toasted everything bagel. It is consistently delicious every time and worth every penny. Spread is popular so a visit on the weekends could result in a longer than preferred wait time. My recommendation is to order ahead online! This option has never failed me. Sometimes I even opt for their delivery service because when I'm typically the most in the mood for a breakfast sandwich, I'm not feeling up for a walk to pick it up. Definitely my favorite bagel spot in the city, without question! read more

Okay, second chance review. Ordered an everything bagel not toasted with cream cheese (no drink) = total bill $4.05. This is just a warning for those that will have sticker shock as this trumps the most expensive bagel with cream cheese I have purchased in a long time. The bagel is crisp, almost cakey, and a very ample serving of whipped cream cheese is lathered on both faces of the bagel. As I was eating this bagel which was cut down the middle so we have four portions to eat and really dissect the flavor I noticed a recurring bitter taste. I can say this is a unique establishment and I love that it exists but I prefer a doughy fresh bagel and not oven baked. I would bring guests coming to Philly to try this spot and I see myself returning probably twice a month that is unless a Manhattan Bagels opens up a location closer to me. read more

Spread bagels are my absolute favorite (especially the Rosemary Olive Oil with Scallion Cream Cheese!) and the team in Wayne is so kind.

I ordered tuna salad on an egg bagel. It was life changing. Bagel was good, but the tuna salad was fantastic. I think it had some shrimp or crab in it as well. When I have a bagel brunch, this is my go-to order so I've had them from many many other stores. Ever ordered a common item that was just a level above? I came into the shop in Wayne at noon on a Saturday. The order was up in less than 5 minutes and the server helped me understand how bagels are actually made (kettle & oven) and the meaning of "Montreal style" bagels. The shop really clean, with creative wood tables. Someone was in the corner comfortably fielding a Zoom meeting on her laptop, a table of high school students was gaggling and parents & children were lunching. A really great find. read more

I would still say pre-order the bagels for pick up, but make sure you check what's inside before you leave so you don't have to make a trip back to the store. First visit. THE CLASSIC $12.00 Smoked Nova Salmon or Homemade Whitefish Salad, Cream Cheese, Vine Ripe Tomato and Onion *opted for the smoked nova salmon, regular cream cheese and vine ripe tomato. *bagel was a bit on the dry almost cake-y side, the tomato overpowered the salmon in both taste and texture and I think it was a beefsteak tomato versus a vine ripe tomato, cream cheese was ample but next time I would opt for the spring onion scallion or smoked nova salmon cream cheese instead *also wish there was an option for capers for some much needed salt read more

I haven't been to a lot of bagel places in the city, so I don't have a lot to compare to, but I will say that Spread set the bar pretty high so far! I was craving a breakfast sandwich and thought I might make it a little heartier by getting a bagel one specifically which led to searching for a solid bagel place nearby me. Spread has a really impressive selection of all kinds of bagel sandwiches, and so their menu got me hooked initially. I'm so glad I ordered from here - the kinds of bagels they have is also pretty varied too. I got The Club on a sesame bagel (turkey, cheddar, bacon, apple, and honey mustard mayo) and my partner got the Carnegie Breakfast (pastrami, eggs, provolone) on an everything bagel. The bagels were nicely toasted and were stuffed to the brim - we were both really happy with our orders. Everything was really delicious, the meats were good and the cheese was melty, and the combination overall was just delicious. We also ordered whitefish on the side to go, and another time carried out a half dozen bagels with their scallion cream cheese and were super happy with this as well. Their cream cheese spread selection is great and also just so delicious and has a unique whipped kind of texture to it. During COVID they make it easy to order takeout - you can walk up or do online and take it to go. Next time you need bagel sandwiches or just a bagel order, I would definitely recommend Spread. read more

these are not your typical jersey bagel! They are a Montreal style bagel. They are very crispy on the outside, so really great if you're looking for that crunch. I personally prefer a softer bagel overall. What I do like about this place is the really unique flavors and that the bagels are truly stuffed! This is definitely really nice place to go to if you're looking for something out of the ordinary aside from your basic pork roll egg and cheese bagel. They have a lot of different types of cream cheese that I have not tried yet. The staff are always very nice and the place is so beautiful inside. It is small, but decorated so nicely. Overall really unique flavors, not my personal favorite but if you're looking for a crunch bagel with really unique toppings then this is the place for you. I also tried their Apple chai and that was very yummy as well. read more

I've been coming here for years and the service and quality has gone way, way down. I think it's the most popular location? Which is why it's so confusing that it's so incredibly bad. Ex. The new sandwich with hollandaise? They put a PILE of hollandaise, no one needs that much. Plus it tastes terrible. Ex. The Carnegie breakfast sandwich? Assembled with the meat all contained on one half of the sandwich, which leaves the other half as just egg and cheese if you don't adjust it. Ex. Frittata scramble? The tomato quality has gone way down and tastes terrible, ruins the whole sandwich. They don't care. The service is complete trash, if the register staff aren't there then everyone ignores you. And the register staff are constantly turning over. To add to all of this, the place is constantly filled with smoke to the extent that it is 1000% a health hazard. They don't care. No one cares. This place SCREAMS of no one caring about quality, service, or even their own health. I'm so disappointed that I have to write this but I've had enough of what should be a staple but is instead a giant let down. read more
