cute place. Walked in seemed like nobody was there and then a girl came out from behind. Nothing really jumped out at me. So I just ordered a simple blue raspberry ice. The girl served us and quickly disappeared back behind wherever she was. The ice tasted very artificial. not impressed at all.

Had a sweet treat at Spoons Ice Cream today. The shop is located in a quaint and dainty shopping center with a few outdoor seating. Inside, the vibe is very girly and bright. Ambiance rate 7/10. The staff were nice and service was quick. Service/staff rate: 6.5/10. My friends and I ordered... 1. Lil Blue Panda: This flavor consisted of sugar cookie with chocolate cookie pieces. It had a nice, sweet taste to it. I added peanut butter drizzle to enhance the flavor. Rate 7/10. 2. Trash Can: This flavor included different kinds of chocolate and candy pieces. The vanilla base it had was very overpowering and bland at the same time. Rate 5/10. 3. Birthday Cake: This flavor had a great birthday cake taste with lots of confetti and sprinkles. Fudge was added to enhance its flavor. Rate 9/10. It's important to note that they didn't have brownie bites or cookie dough toppings which was unfortunate. Overall, this place offers some unique and basic ice cream flavors, but nothing exceptional.

    Cannoli sundae

Finally got to try here since am never around when it's open while in the area. The service here is very quick and to the point, but nothing welcoming or appreciative to customers, for their visit. The cannoli sundae was a real treat, like have a deconstructed cannoli in sundae form with two actual cannolis on top. I appreciate the creativity of a cannoli made two ways. That said it was on point and will have try other sundaes and those ice cream sandwiches looked incredible in cooler there. I will give it to this place for having a lot rare flavor combinations here and plenty of non dairy to try.

Spoons sells premium ice cream and mostly sticks to the basics insofar as flavors. I have enjoyed those basics (such as vanilla, strawberry, pistachio) more so than the atypical flavors (such as cannoli and birthday cake). Not a particularly warm and fuzzy environment, the deer-in-the-headlights / mostly teenaged staff seems perpetually tense, rarely smiles and generally races through every transaction. Efficiency does not make for much of an experience, however. No one asks you "how are you doing today?" and rarely does one sense even a flicker of recognition from the staff. But Spoons is in Eastdale Village--a real estate development project attempting to project small town/community via the use of consistent store facades, resistance to chain stores, and social media marketing. Spoons lacks in "Ice Cream Shop 101" consistency (meaning, procedures are not performed the same way, every time, regardless of who is working) basics such as packing pint and quart cartons high and tight, writing the name of the flavor on the lid, offering bags with purchases, and remembering to say "thank you." A few weeks ago when I went an entirely different flavor than I asked for was packed into the pint container. Not a problem because I rarely encounter an ice cream flavor I do not like. But I was given the wrong flavor. If you go to Spoons regularly, pick up a frequent buyer punch card by the register. No one who rings up a transaction for you there will ever tell you about the punch card and I only discovered it by accident. Every other store (wine, coffee, olive oil, and yes, ice cream) that has a reward/punch card tends to tell you about it ad nauseam ("do you have a punch card? do you need a punch in your punch card?") during a transaction. The practice is typically encouraged by store owners and managers because it promotes repeat business: no customer likes to leave cash on the table and that is what a punch card with even just one punch is. It is mystifying that Spoons never mentions it. No indoor seating, this is not a place you linger. If you want to sit down, there are some tables outside overlooking the small green. Call ahead during the off-season: hours inconsistent. Overall: Solid, if indistinct, premium ice cream; prices on the high side; service bordering on automaton; ambience = "please put something--anything--on the walls." 5/10/24: A "thank you for your patronage" or a "we're sorry we did not live up to your expectations" response would have sufficed but who am I to begrudge a shop owner the opportunity to editorialize? Why seek a profile in a local media outlet or buy an ad when one can expand on one's preferred topics (e.g. "waffle cones") by piggybacking on a customer's review? I particularly enjoyed the clever "sandwich approach" to review response: the bread (first & last paragraph) = standard "response-to-review" bonhomie while the filling (middle paragraphs) = what one really wants to say. As far as credit card transaction processing fees, most merchants pay from 1.5% to 3.5% to credit card companies. Merchants generally consider that an operating cost & bake it into the cost to the consumer. Some merchants choose to add a processing fee to customers using credit cards (as opposed to cash). I assume this is what the owner is referring to. Considering I always pay cash (& leave the balance in the tip jar) I do not pay attention to Spoons' policies on credit card use. Overall, the credit card fee topic is a moving target & there will be many changes far beyond Alyssa & Marco. The hay-day of consumer credit card reward points is likely sunsetting since Congress has reward points in its crosshairs (2022 "Credit Card Competition Act"). Consumer reward points are funded by merchants paying credit card transaction fees & once there is some resolution to this legislation, a party will absorb fees...the "who" or "how" has yet to be determined. As far as the cost of ice cream to the consumer & YOY increases in cost of goods, I cannot speak beyond my own experience with Spoons, but I did notice that their pints recently increased from $7.50 to $8.00. One can still see the former prices on the Spoons site. ("Quick! Get into the site & edit the menu!") I appreciate the "hope to see you again" closing. Considering I am a "regular"--that is, I have been going to Spoons about every 2 weeks for the last 18 month & about 1x a month during Fall/Winter & I particularly enjoy Spoons' vanilla, strawberry, & pistachio) & I see one of the owners every 3rd visit or so, those hopes to see me again will absolutely be fulfilled. Maybe one of these days they will greet me with something akin to "welcome back," or at the very least some sign of recognition will be directed toward me. PS: I did learn something new via this response: when one designs an approximately 4' x 7' neon sign (aka "aesthetic") make sure the hashtag is either A) unobscured by those who pose in front of it or 2) integrated into the neon.

Pistachio cone and vegan apple cone.

The ice cream is delicious and you get a decent scoop. Hubby really enjoyed his ice cream. He had a hankering for pistachio and he was fully satisfied lol I ordered the vegan apple ice cream. The ice cream itself is delicious and creamy. I am told that they make it with oat milk...my favorite non-dairy. I'm not a huge fan of the apple but I look forward to when they make other flavors non-dairy. Hint hint...Spoons...I like chocolate! The shop is super clean and they have a ton of flavors. You will not be disappointed.

This place is great to escape the summer heat and looking for something to cool off with. They have a lot of different flavors and soft serve on the menu, a lot of the flavors are also pretty unique. The people working there are also very friendly, definitely a must go to place for the summer!

Good tasting milkshakes. More pleasing aesthetically more than anything though. Prices were also a bit shocking for the area. Almost reminded us of a black tap trendy milkshake. Taste wise wasn't incredibly unique.

So glad we got to try this ice cream spot before autumn creeps up. Firstly, loved this new little Eastdale community. Super cute store fronts and a lovely area with turf for the kiddies to run and corn hole too! Lots of yummy ice cream flavors, fresh tasting dairy and reasonable prices. A lot of instagrammable milkshakes (including the s'mores one we tried!). I personally would stick to just getting a scoop or two because the flavors are amazing stand alone and very filling. Special mention to the coffee flavor as well as the Cookie Monster. Another high note was the lovely staff- so friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to visit again!

Minnie Mouse ice cream cake. Top is mint chocolate chip.

So yummy. Also had a mi nice mouse ice team cake made for my daughters birthday. Turned out beautifully.

The cutest shop owned by two sisters who have done a great job creating the perfect ice cream shop and cafe. So many flavors - including choices for people with dietary needs - and lots of topping options. It's also in the cutest little town square area of a development with lots of outdoor seating. We will definitely be back!

However, for my taste this places donuts are slightly on the denser side and lack much flavor in terms of the actual dough (which mostly just tastes like oil rather than a fresh, "bready(?)" flavor). I did not enjoy my usual favorite item at other spots, the jelly donut. The strawberry jam was overly sweet and tasted low quality (mostly like preservatives with the strawberry flavor utterly cooked off). I wish the texture was pillowy and the flavor of the donut itself higher quality (since these donuts are marketed as specialty/gourmet). They shine based on what fancy flavor is put on top. It was a memorable experience, with excellent staff and service. However, my visit today was very disappointing. I stopped in to pick up sunflower bread, as previously recommended. At the counter, a staff member told me only garlic-onion bread was available today and that sunflower bread would be available tomorrow. I agreed to take the garlic-onion loaf and asked if it could be sliced, also mentioning that I planned to return the next day for sunflower bread. As I was completing the purchase, another staff member passing by stated that the bread was in fact sunflower. The first employee then changed course and asked how many I wanted. I requested one loaf and again asked if it could be sliced. He responded that they do not slice bread. I explained that during my visit last Wed., the breads have been sliced for us, and I also shared that I am a senior with a disability, specifically severe arthritis in both hands, which makes slicing difficult. A second staff member then interjected, stating that the bread should not have been sliced for me previously and that only sourdough is sliced, and only after 10 a.m. This interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and discouraged. The contrast between the welcoming, accommodating staff I encountered last Wednesday and today's experience was striking. Unfortunately, this visit significantly impacted my impression of Kelly's.

We're taking a break from homeschooling for the holidays but I want to make sure that she does plenty of activities in her free time. Purchasing her spot for the class was easy and can be done on the business website. The classes are normally held on Sundays but this one in particular, was on a Friday, since the kids are out of school. Upon arrival, I scored parking right in front. There is plenty of street parking as they are located on a pretty busy shopping area street. The owner, Jenay, greeted us upon arrival. She directed us to hang up our coats and get comfy. They have a huge shared space. This is a woman-owned business and Jenay is currently using her space for various classes as she prepares to open her café next month. She also offers baked good via her online bakery, making items that can be picked up at this location. She has some interesting events coming up, including both Encanto and Black Panther cake classes for the kiddos, as well as a Cake and Sip Queen Bey class for adults. Once everyone arrived for the class, she provided each child with an apron. The kids will get personalized aprons with their names on them, along with baker's hats. She had a small issue with her custom order and will send us all our swag directly, but did have back-up aprons that worked well. After donning their aprons, the kids washed their hands and then we all headed to the kitchen. Some pastry dough needs to be prepared and chilled for some time before handling, but Jenay had pre-made dough all ready for the kids. She did prepare one batch of dough in real-time, with the help of every child, to show them how to follow a recipe and read the ingredients. I liked that she took the time to give each kid some one on one attention. My kid was the only girl, super reserved, and the boys were very active, but Jenay made sure she got involved and was able to enjoy the experience as well. She did a very good job bringing my kiddo out of her shell. After mixing some dough we all went to our stations to roll out the dough. Jenay demonstrated first and then the kids followed suit, with the help of the adults. We cut out the gingerbread house pieces and put them on our trays, placing them in the oven. During the break while we waited for them to bake, the kids were given cookies, brownies and cocoa. The parents were offered beverages as well, which I thought was nice. We listened to Christmas music and watched Christmas shows on a projector. It's a very cute setup. When the house pieces were all ready and cooled, Jenay helped the kids construct the houses and then we set off to our individual stations to decorate. We had all kinds of candy, along with icing already prepared in a piping bag. The kids were able to be heavily involved in decorating their houses, eating the candy and socializing. When we were all done, Jenay helped us to pack up our houses for transport. This is a great event to take the kiddies to or to even attend yourself. I look forward to visiting the café once it opens. She will offer coffee, teas, pastries and sandwiches. Jenay also mentioned that she would be bringing a NYC style brunch set-up to the space on Sundays with music and a bartender, so definitely keep a lookout for that.
