Alyssa P.

To preface this, I work at a veterinary hospital as well, so I know the ins and outs of quality service and patient care. When my clinic was totally slammed and unable to get in my very fractious cat after she hadn't been eating for 3 days, I gave them a call. First, I had called around to probably 10 other clinics before I reached this one (they were further away). The customer service representative was caring and clear and made me an appointment right away. A facility that has urgent care appointments available is always a plus in my book, as my kitty is very fear aggressive to the point she typically has to be sedated even for an exam. When I'm present, I'm able to handle her and help with the exam so she is less stressed. This just doesn't happen at an emergency facility, who typically will take your pet in the back for everything including the exam, diagnostics and treatment. Anyways, I made my appointment very easily and was welcomed to the clinic once I arrived. However, I will say the parking situation is confusing and very limited. They promptly put me into what I assume was a feline only exam room (not an issue with my cat, but other cats may be more stressed in a room that has dog scents in it, so this was a plus) which from my perspective was decorated nicely, had snacks and water available, and had calm music playing. From my cats perspective, there were Feliway plug-ins, a scratching post & I will say even the music helped her calm down a bit. The tech came in and got a history and I was very honest with my cats behavior and the very real possibility she may need to be sedated again (we had visited the ER the night before...) The tech then came back with the doctor, who was very friendly, calm, & personable. He understood my cat was stressed & took a very gentle approach. We spoke about options & the tech returned to go over the estimated cost for the services discussed. It was very clear and concise, and I opted to move forward. Urgent veterinary care is not cheap anywhere, however I found these prices to not be too bad. I know the staffing crisis in the industry is prominent & they deserve to be paid well for all they do. They took her into the back to attempt to take x-rays & returned shortly stating they did their best, however she was too stressed that they would need to sedate her. The doc also went over the options for moving forward again. Now, I had my worries with her being sedated again, so I opted for the second route; my girl got some light-sedative medications in her & we were told to return in two hours to try again. Luckily, as we got home, she started eating again and I cancelled the follow up. They checked in via text a few days later to see how she was doing, which shows quality service. Overall, my experience here was fantastic and I've started to even recommend them from my clinic when we're too booked to handle another patient & needs urgent, not emergency, care. The front desk, techs, and doctors were all great & took great care of my girl and myself. If I were to find myself in a similar situation, I would definitely return. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I went in for vaccinations to establish care although I thought this was only an urgent care they offer a lot more than that!

There were smiles all around and such a positive environment, despite all the hard conversations going around, it was so uplifting and amazing to see. Huge shout out to one of the best vets I have ever met/ watched work - Dr. Beth Sotiropoulos. She is a master at a craft and has fun while doing it. She is incredibly patient, knowledgable, and supportive. Im crying just thinking about how kind she was despite all the hard news we got for our cat. Thank you Dr. Sotiropoulos- Our Hootie will live a while longer thanks to you. Instead, I trusted my instincts and took him to my regular vet. With proper care and Lasix, my boy is alive and thriving. I'll never forget when the ER doctor looked me in the eye and said, "As his doctor, it's my job to advocate for him." No -- I'm his mom. I raised him from a kitten. If anyone is going to advocate for him, it's me. And thank God I did. When I left my first review, the Medical Director responded saying he couldn't find me in their system. I find that hard to believe since I once paid over $5,000 at this same facility for another pet's hospitalization. There are good, kind people who work here -- I've met them. But readers should know this facility isn't an independent practice. Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is backed by large investment firms, including private-equity and hedge-fund-style investors. That kind of backing often prioritizes profit over pets, which shows in the way care decisions are presented. Please, don't let anyone pressure you into a rushed decision, especially euthanasia. They don't always know best. You do. Sometimes choosing life really is the best choice.

Kerry M. was our vet and she walked us through every step, educated us, was patient, and was so kind to Iverson and us. I had to cancel the first appointment because I was not ready to say goodbye. They offer a cancellation window up to 4 hours before your appointment and allow you to carry over your deposit to when you reschedule, with no extra fee. So thankful for this understanding. The cost may feel steep, but the in-home service is so so worth it. Iverson had his last meal while the pain meds were administered. It was a distraction where he didn't even notice. He felt safe and comfortable in his home, surrounded by family and on his favorite couch. He was then given a sedation medicine where he drifted into a nap on my chest. When the final medicine was given, he felt no pain as he crossed the rainbow bridge. I have heard horror stories from other in home service companies. I had 3 friends use Caring Pathways and that is why we went with them. I am so grateful and thankful that we chose to work with Caring Pathways. It helps with acceptance and closure and provides a peaceful passing. I will forever recommend them to other family and friends who need to say goodbye to a family pet member.

We moved from Seattle to Albuquerque June 2022. Our 5-yr old German Shepherd had just been diagnosed with end stage liver disease and had begun needing abdominocenteses, a procedure where accumulated fluid is removed from the abdomen. Every 3-5 weeks, 2-4 liters of fluid would accumulate and have to be removed. We had it done at a Blue Pearl facility in Seattle/Kirkland three times before we moved, and it was very stressful for her until the last time when the vet used a different technique and let me be with her, so we could avoid any sedative or drugs, which is imperative when the liver isn't functioning well. We got to Albuquerque, and the first new patient appt at our chosen clinic was 10 weeks out, and the ERs in ABQ didn't perform this procedure. Since we'd had so much good care at Blue Pearl in Seattle/Kirkland, we searched for a Blue Pearl locally. The closest were Phoenix and Denver. We chose to drive the 8 hrs up to Denver. Because fluid accumulation is unpredictable, we can't always go to our vet in ABQ even now. The procedure takes an hour, so the vet can't fit you in between other appts, so we've had to go to Blue Pearl Lakewood 4 times now. Each time we've seen Dr. Jill Bull, and each time her assistants have been remarkable. All the intake staff and medical staff have been professional, efficient, very compassionate, kind... We've interacted with many different support staff on the phone and in person since last July and have only had good to exceptional experiences with everyone. Dr. Bull is everything I look for in a vet. On our first visit, she listened to our 3 prior experiences with the procedure and agreed to use the other technique that had worked so well for our dog the last time in Seattle. She cared more for our dog's well-being than doing it the "easy" way. Dr. Bull is a fantastic vet. She listens, she considers, she's professional, kind, compassionate, clearly skilled in technique, patient and adaptable to situations as they develop. Because our dog was not sedated, and we had to keep her still for an hour, things changed often, and Dr. Bull and her tech (Bree was beyond fantastic) took all in stride and made everything work well. Our dog was calm, and all has gone very well all 4 times despite different circumstances each time. Our 4th visit was Jan 6, 2023, and Dr. Bull told us she'd recently been made facility director for Blue Pearl Lakewood. Finally, the right person for the right job - she'll still be treating patients, so it's a win-win for all. I hate HMOs, but back in Seattle during COVID, Blue Pearl was the only place that allowed me inside with my dog, which is why I chose them over everyone else. They were super strict with COVID protocol, but they knew you can only give exceptional care if the animal's person is directly involved, not just talking on the phone as they wait for hours in their car in the outside parking lot. I have been deeply pleased with Blue Pearl's clearly putting the animal's welfare over their own convenience, and the ensuing care my dog received at Blue Pearl Kirkland/Seattle was excellent as well as at Blue Pearl Lakewood, CO. I can't say enough good about Blue Pearl, wherever I've gone. Maybe now that they've taken over in Lakewood, the bad reviews will only be about money (ER visits are rarely cheap.) And btw, although the fee is higher at Blue Pearl Lakewood ER for the procedure than at my local vet (not an ER in Albuquerque), it's still very reasonable. (It's half what I was paying at Blue Pearl Seattle.)

For our recent visit, I had called around and shared information about our dog's injury. She had sliced her paw open on metal, garden edging. I asked each place I called what their wait times were and their base rate for bringing a dog in for emergency services. Blue Pearl/ACC, had the shortest wait and we're slightly less expensive. In reading the reviews, I had to gauge if this was our best option. However, our vet told us that for a wound like the one our dog had, it should be addressed within a couple of hours, so I went with Blue Pearl. I was not disappointed. My vet's office advised me to request a vet tech assessment before deciding the best course of action. Blue Pearl was happy to oblige. Danielle almost immediately took our dog back and returned a short while later to inform me that my dog had cut her paw open to the bone. I agreed to have them address the wound surgically. The vet who assessed the wound, and ultimately did the surgery, was David Burnett, DVM. I was provided an itemized estimate and had to pay the exam fee. I was able to use my Care Credit which really helped, since the total cost was just under $1k. Care Credit will allow me 6-months, interest free to pay the balance. Having several animals, including a horse, I knew an emergency visit/surgery would be expensive and wasn't surprised by the cost. I felt like all of my questions were answered by the staff and that my plea to Danielle to take good care of our dog was heeded. Dr. Burnett was friendly and patient with my questions. Our dog was ready to be picked up within a few hours and we were provided medications and great instructions for her aftercare. We were instructed to have the sutures removed in 2-weeks. I waited to write this review until that time came, because I figured if our vet gave our dog's recovery a thumbs up, then this place deserved 5-stars. I am an informed consumer and not afraid to ask questions that ensure I and my pets receive respectful and proper care. I am happy to recommend Blue Peal to others. Our sweet pup is back up, and literally running, because of their great care.
