There have been many evenings he has called well after-hours and he hasn't seemed hurried or bothered, but rather concerned and available. One thing about this clinic is that they have kept their prices fair and within your budget. I think they have to charge what the lab charges them and there isn't much they can control. Their pharmacy program is helpful and cost savings, too. I recommend them to everyone.

I respect the veterinarian, but the clinic's staff training and procedures are unreliable, and after two consecutive errors involving my dog's care, I cannot continue bringing her here. This is based on three issues with three different cats. And these are not even complex, uncommon issues -- urinary issue, vomiting, and diarrhea. Most recently we brought a cat in because of diarrhea. We were prescribed a probiotic. They didn't tell us what to look for or what to do if it didn't work but after 9 days of treatment and no improvement I called to ask what they suggest next. I also asked if we should be concerned about it spreading to other cats since we are a multi cat household. The vet prescribed a medicine but gave no indication what it was for. I called and asked what are they treating. The kind person on the phone checked the notes and said diarrhea. Well, okay, but bacterial, viral, parasitic? What did you rule out with the first treatment and what are you testing now? Maybe I'm nit picking but this seems like basic, helpful medical information that should be communicated to a caretaker. I also failed to receive an answer about whether whatever they thought it was now would be contagious, which is frustrating because I told them another cat had similar symptoms. Super nice people don't get me wrong. Just completely underwhelmed.

Our poor boy, Dudley, a yellow lab-bloodhound mixed was recently sent to doggy heaven, thanks to Wash Park vet. Dr. Ingram helped us objectively understand our dog's declining condition in the context of his pathology, which we desperately needed. Being so emotionally attached to Dudley, we needed this perspective. Dr. Ingram was thorough, empathic and positive about the scenario. She helped us decided that it was Dudley's time, a decision that was not taken lightly. Melinda delicately and patiently explained in great detail the procedure that would be done over the phone. On the day he was euthanized, the staff blew our minds with how sensitive they were. They saw us coming through the window and solemnly greeted us and walked us back to the room where the procedure was done. Dr. Jones conducted the procedure and made us feel at ease and cared for. It is in these instances that this type of attention to detail is crucial. As a psychotherapist, this sensitivity is paramount in moments of deep sadness and the staff delivered in a big way. I am so grateful for them making a sad experience as easy and comfortable as possible.

Initial visit was fine- wellness exam and shots, I really had a great experience. This second visit was very routine- dog was itchy. I got there about 5 minutes before and quickly put into a room. Then waited for a few minutes for the tech, no worries- they asked a bunch of questions, then waited another 15 min for doc, who was there for about 15 and most of same questions. We ended up deciding on an allergy shot- he left again, 15 more minutes. Again, this seemed like a simple fix. At this point, I was there 1 hour and had to leave for another meeting. I had thought 1 hour would be enough but apologized and I asked the tech if I could just come back in a couple hours and get the shot since i had to go. She said yes, we'll call you. I called back about an hour later, and was told I'd need yet ANOTHER exam by the nurse, another $38 plus the cost of the shot (which I think was at least 100). I'd already paid $95 upfront for the visit. I told them since I had just been there, can't I just come in and get the shot? I was told no. No apologies for the wait, no accommodation. I told them to just forget it. They could care less. They texted again reminding me about the $95 and I gave them ANOTHER opportunity to just make it right, why would I need another exam? I would have done all this if I'd had more than an hour the first time. I asked if the vet could just prescribe the pill to that I would have some treatment, even if I didn't come back for the shot. At least my $95 would be well spent. I could get the prescription from Chewy or anywhere. They didn't do anything so now I'm out the money and my dog is just taking Benadryl and I'm hopeful I don't have to go back in... I said I was really disappointed, they'd lost me as a customer. They could honestly care less. So disappointed in the utter lack of customer care here. '

After a thorough exam the Vet suggested a course of action with multiple options & pricing. She took the time to explain everything fully. The next day one of the staff members called to check on Ellie. The staff here is very knowledgeable, caring & compassionate. This place is great!

Many years ago I took my previous dog to Gentle Touch for surgery on a tumor near his eye. The surgery caused cherry eye. On the follow up appointment I was told I needed to schedule another procedure to fix the cherry eye. I asked if there would be a charge since it was a result of their surgical work, they replied they would charge for the procedure (to fix something they caused). Decided to find another vet. After a number of years I returned there because I didn't appreciate my current vet basically telling me I had to buy Tri-Heart from their online store or else come to their office, pick up a prescription, mail it to Chewy and wait for the order. Previous vets I had worked with were ok with a phone call from Chewy to verify that the Rx was issued, and they sent 12 month supplies to me as ordered. Before making an appointment with Gentle Touch, I specifically asked if they were willing to verify the Rx on the phone and was told they would, so I made an appointment with them in good faith. After the vet tech finished with me, Dr. Chad Van Koot came in to the exam room and informed me that they would not verify on the phone as I was told they would (the only reason I scheduled the appointment), that I would have to mail in the Rx to Chewy, then he offered to let me take the dog and leave with no charge. I opted to stay since the tech had already done some things and being an ethical person who believes that their time is valuable as well (even if they don't believe mine is), I grudgingly accepted paying the $90 charge. The vet gave me a paper Rx, I mailed it to Chewy then was informed by Chewy yesterday that the 12 month supply I ordered was being substituted for a 6 month supply because that's all the Dr. prescribed. Which means in 6 months I have to go through the process again. Ridiculous. We're talking about heartworm prevention here, not narcotics. They obviously knew I was unhappy because I got a call later that day from a woman at the practice who spent much of the call badmouthing Chewy, saying they are a fraud and that they got in trouble for selling fraudulent drugs. Yes, Chewy did have a problem a few years back... with fish food! I've been buying heartworm prevention from them for years with no problems. Other than the fact that I don't appreciate Chewy only shipping via FedEx, they have always been a good supplier of products for my dogs. At one point while the woman on the phone was badmouthing Chewy i told her that my experiences with Chewy were far better than my experiences with Gentle Touch. By a mile. I tired of the woman's gaslighting quickly and ended the conversation. It's always somebody else's fault with some folks. After learning that I would have to go through this dance again in 6 months, I called them to voice my displeasure and was told that they would email me a Rx in 6 months. Chewy will not accept emailed Rx, they want originals. So Gentle Touch wants me to go through this again in 6 months. I'd rather pay for another vet visit than go back there. The clinic was far less clean than others I have experienced, the people are nice, but in the end, it's the worst veterinary practice I have experienced in a lifetime of caring for dogs. I won't be back unless it's a life or death emergency, you can be certain of that.
