As out of towners, we were surprised just how woke this establishment is. The food was so-so. The York special (2 eggs, hash browns and biscuit) was a mixed mess. Eggs cooked unevenly. Archetype Pizza in York is an absolute must. I'm sitting here eating the second half of my cheese steak and decided to write a review. Archetype genuinely has the best cheesesteak I've ever eaten in my entire life. The pizza was spectacular as well. It was perfectly crispy with the right amount of flop. Stopped here for brunch on the way to Lebanon from MD because I saw they had great reviews and lots of vegan/vegetarian options, and this was legit the best brunch I have had in a long while. I'm used to the regular ol' eggs benedict, breakfast skillet, or pancakes, etc. So I decided to order The Flower Pot for a change of scenery. I'm not normally a gravy person, but mushroom gravy has slowly been growing on me. My boyfriend got the meat version (Garbage Biscuit). And we both were raving about it! He said the bacon on his was exactly how he likes his bacon: thick and chewy. As for me, I was doing a happy dance with every single bite. The gravy was great, the biscuit had such a good flavor, and the fried cauliflower was perfect! I couldn't really taste the cheese that was said to be on mine, but maybe because it blends in with the gravy and that's why I enjoyed the gravy in the first place. I would 10000% eat here all the time if I lived nearby. The only complaint we had is my boyfriend ordered the cinnamon toast crunch specialty coffee, and the flavor was very subtle so it wasn't as exciting as it sounded. But this definitely won't stray us from coming here again! There were so many things I wanted to try. We've also never been to York and it looked like a cute town, so we may need to make our way there for brunch and a walk around town sometime soon! read more

Among the comment was a vegetarian recommendation. So me being me. I decided to test the recommendation with my own in house vegetarian termagant to see if it cuts the mustard. Destroyed! Food & drinks were excellent! Reasonably priced we had 2 drinks each and one large half pep/half cheese pizza for $52. This brick-oven pizza did not disappoint! Took a little bit to get to us but we enjoyed the weather sitting outside while waiting. No parking, only street parking and we went on Sunday, had to park kinda far and walk. Only issue we had while dining was a homeless man trying to use the electric outlet behind our table to charge his phone while we were eating. Ok, so right off the bat we have been here several times in the past and the food was very much hit or miss. This past visit things were LIGHTYEARS better! We stopped in after hearing about their new vegan menu. I ordered the All-In from that menu while my husband and daughter ordered dishes off the standard menu. Everything was good! The eggs were Just Egg patties alongside plant-based sausage patties with French toast and berries. I asked to have the French toast made "churro" which is an option for the French toast entree and they kindly accommodated. I saw some things online about how they were struggling with understanding what's vegan and what isn't and I was honestly pretty concerned but I think we made it out ok! The server who delivered our food even double checked that my food was vegan for me after I'd said not to worry about it -- very kind! The only issue we had was the hostess didn't tell anyone we were there and someone was waiting for a to-go order at the end of the bar so the bartender couldn't see us (we were seated on the Archtype side) so we waited a very long time to be acknowledged. Everyone was super apologetic though, and we get it, things happen. Overall the addition of Archtype really ups the vibe of the restaurant. I love all the old decor. We'd definitely come back, there are a few things on the Archtype menu I'd like to try, specifically. I just hope they take note as to what is vegan and what isn't so customers can be certain they're getting what they order/what aligns with their dietary choices. It could become a huge issue for the restaurant as well should someone with, say a milk or egg allergy orders something off the vegan menu assuming it's safe but isn't. Just some food for thought! Overall very excited to see them offer this large of a vegan menu and hope to support it as much as we can. read more

The service and atmosphere of Roost are deserving of five stars. We had a really enjoyable Sunday brunch. The food was nothing outrageously special, but it was yummy. The sausage was almost inedibly burnt (which is why I can't give five stars) but the rest of the food tasted as we had hoped it would. Both the server and host were lovely and attentive. The honey lavender lattes were our favorite part of the meal--we ended up both getting a second latte to go before leaving. I visited here last Saturday. I was able to grab a parking spot on the street in front of the restaurant and it happened to be free to park there on Saturdays. I was told that there were nearby garages although I didn't look for any. The vibe was chill. The waitress showed us really good customer service. I ordered biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs. The food came out very quickly. Overall my food was just ok. The eggs were very salty. The waitress did offer to bring me more eggs but I did not elect to get a second order. My friend and I were there for quite some time chatting and I appreciated that we didn't feel rushed. I would visit here again based on the good service. Everything sounded delicious, but I ended up getting the garbage biscuit with no queso - a biscuit with apricot butter, hash browns, smoked pulled pork, bacon, sausage gravy, and an egg over medium. It was very salty but wonderful!! I was a bit hesitant due to the price, but it was large enough that 2 people could have shared it. I ended up taking half home. If you like delicious common and uncommon food served lukewarm, this is the place to go. My son had the El Chapo tacos and they disappeared in two minutes! The cheesy grits lasted a bit longer but he said they were also very good. I ordered the huevos rancheros and they were the best I've ever tasted. But everything came out lukewarm. Even the homefries. I don't know how they did it. I know they cooked it all fresh because the wait was long and it wasn't that busy. Maybe cold plates? Maybe it cooled before being delivered? Really looked forward to going here for brunch, but can only report 3 positive things. - coffee was very good, but the 12oz is the best choice for the money (you can add flavor if you want) - garbage breakfast plate was very flavorful but very greasy (to be expected with all the gravy and bacon) - accommodating to handle larger party (split between two room, which was fine) The disappointing things are the reason why we don't anticipate returning: - took over 40min for the food to come out, which wouldn't have been as bad if there would have been check in with the table to see if we needed anything or give a status - our party that was split on the other side/wall of the building got water without ice (hot day, warm inside, not the best thing to serve, especially when our other party got water with ice. The request to get ice was ignored) - the flower pot entree was very bland and dry - the brunch burger was very bland and dry - the ice tea tasted like mix of coffee and tea - waiter was noticeably annoyed when we informed them of a mistake on the bill Overall not attentive to customer needs and we felt we were more of an inconvenience than a patron. read more
