I ordered the Cheesesteak Jawn with cheese, onions, and mushrooms with crinkle fries. Lavender Lemonade Vodka Cocktail. The cheesesteak was very good! The meat was seasoned!!!!!! The Lemonade vodka was also amazing!!!! I will be back for sure to try the pizza!!! The waiter was nice, the food didn't take long and it had a nice feel.
I usually never make it out of work before Archetype closes. I've heard about this local gem since I first moved to town on October '25. Today was a snow day, and I finally had the privilege to join a group of friends for a fantastic lunch there, and boy was it good! Started with a cold glass of water and a Honey Lavender Latte; what a great way to warm up on a frigid winter day. My close friends had a Caramel Pumpkin Latte and a traditional Café Latte; nobody was disappointed with their drink of choice. There were so many great options on the menu so my gal pal and I decided to do what any good friend would do...SHARE! OUR SELECTIONS: Brotherly Love Hash (a breakfast hash inspired by PA famous favorite a Philly Cheesesteak). This beautiful concoction was made up of ribeye, cooper sharp, hashbrowns, scrambled egg, sriracha mayo, philly roll on the side $16 SKILLET *AND* A medium pizza appropriately named "The Forager". A perfect crust topped with roasted garlic, mozzarella, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and creamy Gorgonzola crumbles. $22.00 Very welcoming staff, sparking clean, and marked with touches nostalgic memorabilia around the restaurant. Consider it a "must" for those living and also visiting the downtown York. Everything that was walked past us as it left the kitchen made me want more, to see more, and to return more so I can try EVERYTHING once, if not, twice Definitely gonna return for the wings as they were not only smelling like the perfect wings but also looked equally amazing and delicious. And I don't say this lightly -- it's the only one that competes with my own. Then the pizza showed up. Sourdough crust -- light, crisp, perfectly blistered. A cheese blend of mozzarella, ricotta, and grana padano that actually tastes like something. The white pizza? It's not "good for around here." It's just good. Period. Fun atmosphere. Friendly staff. Zero complaints. I came to review. I left impressed.

While waiting for over 15 min just to have someone ask us how many, I was ready to rate this place a 1, however, Nick saved the day. We finally got seated and Nick quickly got us waters and took our order. We were in a rush to get to a concert next door, so we just went for a medium pizza, half cheese, half pepperoni. The pizza came out pretty quick and it was worth the wait to be seated!! Thin crust and piping hot! We ate our pizza, Nick got us a leftover box and we headed to our concert. Kudos to Nick for just hustling and being sweet and kind! If we are ever back in York, we will definitely be back!
This is really a hidden gem in York PA. I'm only giving this a four star because we stood in front of the restaurant area for a good 10 minutes before we were acknowledge and seated. The food was delicious. It came out hot and it had lots of flavor. Our waitress she was very nice and what I thought was pretty cool was how she recommended a bunch of different things and she even explained what certain things were. The ambience inside of this restaurant is so cool. It makes me feel like we're back in the 90s with all of the arcade games And neon signs.
LOVE their vegan pizza and hot honey pepperoni cup pizza. Large pizzas and delicious. Great crust. The presentation of that vegan cheese could look a bit better (looks a bit unappetizing in the shape it's piped on right now). The back of the restaurant was too hot, felt like there was no AC (but this was awhile back so might be different now).
If you're craving biscuits this is the place to come. I did a road trip to York to see tulips and stopped here for brunch. The Yelp reviews talked about the biscuits and they were a delight. The staff was so friendly - and was really attentive. Upon entrance it's a bit confusing as the owners own the pizza joint and this breakfast place. There's arcades, a fridge of craft beer and gender neutral bathrooms. Super hipster and liberal for PA - which I loved. The food is diner - and the coffee was super cold at first but the waitress quickly brought me a new mug. The hash browns were perfectly crispy. Get the biscuits with gravy, I got the plain and stole my friend's gravy. There is an early bird menu if you eat from 8-9 am which feels so small town to me. A must stop for brunch if you're in York! The weather was also stunning so we sat in the outdoor seating space.
Good food, great staff and menu! Busy place on the weekends means that it's got to have great food, right? Yup! I'd say most likely one of the best places to go for breakfast in the County. Coffee is great and a nice menu selection, great atmosphere and offer outdoor dining in the warm months.
Pizza and alcohol? Yes please! Such a cool place. The service was great and everyone made sure we were seated as quickly as possible (even though there was a 40 minute wait), and our server was very attentive to us. For my own selfish reason I wish this place was more of a secret because it gets super busy! But that's the sign a a great spot! We ordered the BYO pizza with pepperoni and pineapple. That was seriously good pizza!! I'm not typically a fan of pizza shop pizza, but this was excellent. My daughter ordered the white pizza and of course we helped her finish it. It was so good. The drinks were very good. I love that they have a variety of beer and mixed drinks available. This is definitely a fun place where we plan to frequent whenever we are in York.
Sooooo glad that roost finally remade their vegan options and they did it in a big way. A whole menu. Now I need t come back and try it all.
Cute place, good pizza, on a walkable street downtown. We were staying nearby, and saw this cute storefront while strolling on a Sat late afternoon. Friendly staff, cute decor, and quick take-out service. Their menu includes several types of pizza shape and thickness, cut however you like, with dairy and non-dairy "plant-based" option, with pre-planned toppings that tend to include some spiciness. We opted to select our own toppings, with a mushroom and sautéed onion and a non-dairy mushroom, sautéed onion, and green pepper. Both were delicious, and the non-dairy one was just as good as the regular cheese. The Archetype (regular) crust is a Neapolitan-style, thin and chewy, lightly charred, with just a little crisp and a pillowy edge. We got take-out, and you can eat-in here with some nice craft brews. For the record, this is not a cracker-y thin crust, more like a coal-fired hand-tossed, just so you know what "thin crust" means here, for those of us who like "thin" :-); Also, I couldnt read the online menu during closed hours. This is a great little downtown pizza shop!
Came here again and it was just as good. We enjoyed a drag story time while eating! The crushes were amazing and homemade with fresh fruit.
We kept hearing buzz about this Pizza place in York! Formerly Archetype Pizza sits a place that is a vibe! Outside seating available, tons of old pictures and neon signs. It felt vintage! Our waitress was great. We came for the thin crust tavern style pizza everyone raves about (heads up this is a special and was no longer going on). She was able to convince the chefs to make one for us! The price of their items for the quantity you get does not match up well. We understand local and higher quality ingredients but about 6 bucks for 30 fries is a little steep. The Tavern Style Pizza was around 25 dollars. We also got a chicken biscuit sandwich for our group and it didnt come with the side it was supposed. My rating is a 4 star based on taste and quality of the food, but the prices vs the amount of the food limiting it from a 5 star. The tavern style pizza had great taste and flavor. I see why people rave about it. I would like to go back and try their archetype pizza and detroit style. The chicken egg biscuit sandwich was also delicious! Overall, we want to go back and try other items. Know it cost a little more than your local pizza shops. read more
My daughter and I stopped in the other night for dinner. We split an order of the pretzel twists and a small pizza. Half bacon and half sausage. The pizza seemed to be cooked in a wood fired oven. Thin crust and a great char on the bottom. Light on the sauce, cheese and toppings for the price but the flavor was great. The pretzels were loaded with salt and we had to rub about half off but once again the flavor was great. The decor is very different and didn't seem to have a theme. Just like hey this looks cool so let's put it on the wall or behind the bar. There's a big shelf by the front door with games to play. Decent sized bar. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and stay on top of taking care of their tables. A very decent place for a night out downtown. read more

Amazing service at this restaurant! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and sat down. Very friendly place for everyone with a relaxed vibe. Ordered a pizza with vegan cheese (a whole plant based menu!) and pepperoni, sausage, and long hots. The crust had the perfect chew and texture. Great flavor. Very happy this place exists, will be back next time I'm around. Really want to try the square pies and Detroit style! read more

This very small, retro, trendy restaurant is small but fantastic. The vibe is very hipster, yet inviting to all. The seating is limited but the kitchen is shared with a brunch concept for the morning. That is connected as one unit but closed after brunch times. Most tables seat four. Some are high tops or low. Then the bar is past that and splits the restaurant to another section of tables in the back for larger parties. There is a video jute box, a pinball machine, and a video game in the back. The bathrooms were totally redone and immaculate. We ordered a beer off their extensive list. (available and live online.) There is also a paper copy but we had to ask for it. Our server was at our table very fast despite his busy section. We ordered drinks. The bar drinks took a minute but were ran by another employee. One appetizer was the Sesame Citrus Smoked Wings. Wow! Cooked perfectly. Awesome sauce. Just the right amount of smoke. Very good! 5/5 We also got the Chips and Dips. The chips were fresh. Queso was rich and creamy. The guacamole was fresh and smooth. And the salsa was wonderful. Again.... 5/5 We ordered a smaller round pizza called The Jersey Turnpike. It had Long Hot Peppers, sausage, pepperoni, and sauce dollops. It was thin. Was cooked perfectly. Had the perfect balance of chew and crunch. The flavor was a great balance of salty, spice, and savory. 5/5 I would love to go back and try the Detroit Style Pizzas. I lived a long time in Michigan and they reminded me of Buddy's Pizza or Como's Pizza in Ferndale, MI. I love a good pizza with vodka sauce. That was from my time living in NJ. Everything from the food, the service, the drinks, and the ambience was awesome. I recommend trying to go at the beginning of a meal time. It filled up right after we got there at 5. This was also a Friday. Overall, this place is a now a top restaurant in the area for me. 5/5. Please go try this. You will be so happy that you did! read more

Lover, loved, loved our visit. We arrived just after 12PM and the restaurant almost empty. We were greeted and seated quickly. Everything on the menu enticed us to order it but one can't order the entire menu. The choices we made were Excellent, tasty, and filling. The Garbage Can Biscuit was ... WOW!! Onlu negative comment is that it was FREEZING in there. The A/C was COLD and the server informed us it had been that was for several days and even they were wearing sweaters ... If you find yourself in downtown York, PA, we recommend you stop in. read more

This is a great place to grab a pizza with a friend. The atmosphere is video game themed...which was really cool! It felt very chill and comfortable. The pizza was also AMAZING! The crust was crispy and cheesy, the flavors of the tangy peppers, savory vodka sauce, fatty sausage and yummy cheese just meshed so nicely together. My mouth is watering just writing this review hahah. The service was also very good! They were attentive and helped us when we were split between 2 pies. I just wish they were closer to where I live!!! read more
