Just completed my CCW initial 16hr course this weekend with Mike Kenner. Mike is the man, and without a doubt my go to for future needs. I will be recommending him to everyone I know looking into any type of firearms training. Unlike many other unrelated classes and trainings I have attended where the instructor struggles to captivate the classes attention, Mike knows how to do it. Mike is extremely knowledgeable, professional, passionate and enthusiastic in his approach. He knows how and when to engage with individuals. Some individuals may be overwhelmed or intimidated going into such critical and important training, but Mike treats each person with respect and kindness while still being able to stress the gravity of the information he teaches you. On the shooting course, Mike clearly gives step by step instructions for each phase while continuously emphasizing the importance of safety. I noticed him also giving great tips and advice ensuring the shooters are the most comfortable and confident they can be during the course of action. It's not uncommon to come across some big egos in the realm of firearms, so it was especially refreshing having an instructor who is very approachable and humble. This morning, before today's curriculum began, we debriefed on the range qualification yesterday. I took the basic pistol course and highly recommended it to anyone looking to learn the basics. Mike is a great trainer with a genuine passion for teaching. I took Michael Keener's 16 hour Concealed Carry Certification firearms training last weekend. Michael is the veteran owner and oversees all aspects of the training with assistance from his father, a retired police officer during range time. Michael and his father went above and beyond standard educational, training and instructional methods by introducing real world daily life scenarios and some advanced techniques on how to handle. Their clear and effective communication helped me keep up. I appreciated their concern for their students well being by providing shade and water as temperatures were in the mid 90's. I also appreciated that they didn't sugarcoat things and low key called out students indirectly to see if we recognized an issue they saw and then directly as needed. They'd, give you an opportunity to adjust afterwards and provide additional guidance and/or suggestions. Safety is Split Fire's first and foremost priority. I highly recommend. He puts enough pressure on his alumni for growth but not enough to where it makes people put off. He answered all the questions we had and then some. He also presented various scenarios for us to be aware of and how to handle the situation. You don't feel like you are in a room with Rambo, I asked questions and to him no question is dumb.we went to the range and I got a chance to see what different calibers of pistols was like and that is good because you can see what fits your preference in a firearm. And on the range he teaches you about safety in a class room setting and while at the range, and that was great for me because I had never been on a range before. which had restored my confidence in handling a loaded pistol. Enthusiastic instructors focused on safety, education, and fun. The NRA Basic Pistol class was conducted during very strict coronavirus County orders, which made things challenging. The "class" instruction via Zoom helped (no masks at home!) and I liked that it was covered over two evenings. The "shooting" portion of the class at the San Leandro public range (limited lanes = long wait) allowed the instructors to use the waiting time wisely by providing additional training and commentary while watching the other shooters. Sunday, Feb. 23 2020 CCW Intro Class. Instructor: M. Kenner Instructor Kenner did not just read out of his instructor handbook, gave you a test and decided if you passed or failed. He added a lot of realism to the curriculum, threw in a lot of relatable information. He made sure you valued your training. Unlike most firearms training classes that can sometimes be intimidating, simply because the firearm instructor has a high standard for you. (especially in a CCW Class) Instructor Kenner makes sure, "your moving as fast as your slowest runner". Making sure everyone understands the course. Outside of the classroom and onto the range, I personally am nervous when people whom I do not know are operating firearms around me, and I have spent a good 10 years behind a firearm in real world scenarios. No offense to anyone but I have seen enough to make me nervous. Instructor Kenner is on top of safety. Before we are even on the range he has established a standard with his students. Which made it a lot comfortable for me and allowed me to enjoy the range time of class. In conclusion Split Fire Firearms training is a highly professional training course available to all Firearms Advocates. From those who just wish to be educated about firearms, to those who wish to advance their abilities. You cannot not find any other training outside of Military and Law Enforcement, especially in California that allows you to train the way you train with Split Fire. read more

Classes were fun, informative, and real life based. This was not just a stick to the books class. When a coach asks what do you think? Or what would you do? It inspires knowledge. Range day? How about a private range area at a public Range? Highly recommended for beginners (they teach a basic pistol class) or experienced shooters, or even novice shooters-CCW class is excellent.
