I signed up the day before and called to make sure my online portion made it on time before my simulation in the morning and they were able to send me my course quickly. Last time i went to the Antioch location, but this time went to the Concord one off Clayton Rd. I'm glad there are multiple locations to choose from to find the date/time available that work for me. Very easy to find the building. Each time so far has been an easy and pleasant experience, the simulation gives great feedback. Conner is great, thorough, and a fun instructor. This was my renewal course, while it was my boyfriend's first time ever taking a BLS course. He teaches the course in such a way that it's easy for both beginners and seasoned professionals. We both passed, yay, and received a free CPR face shield. As for new covid precautions, each student has their own desk, with an adult and infant dummy, and BVMs to match. He does require each person to first wash hands after checking in the front desk. Coffee and snacks provided in a separate mini room off the hallway. No eating or drinking allowed in the actual class. Mask are to be worn at all times. Had to renew my BLS certification, searched for the cheapest but effective renewal place nearby, and found this place. I attended the BLS training on Feb 15, 2020 at 3pm. It is easy to find, lots of parking, and is in a safe area. The building, bathroom, and work area all nice and tidy. The equipment are new, lastest model, and easy to use. They make the class sizes small enough for the instructor to go around and check if youre doing it right, around ~20:1, and you work with a partner. They provide cups for water, coffee, and tea, as well as snacks. Also has a charging station for your phone, with multiple adapters. Our instructor was Nina H., she was amazing. I learned more with her than when I did my first training at another institution. She is very interactive and keeps the class lively yet is very much informative. She was able to answer the concerns of the students when asked. She performed the tasks to show us how it should be done and gave tips to remember them easily and other modifications. The only thing I'd say to add for this 3 hour class would be a 10-15 minute restroom break. I didnt want to run to the restroom and miss out on something valuable from the class. But other than that, everything was great! Will definitely be coming back here for a renewal after two years and would strongly recommend this place, especially with Nina! read more

They kept the class casual and informative giving out practical pointers not shown on the video. I had flashbacks of my college days sitting in my anthropology class, bored out of my skull. Surprisingly, Tomas Suzuki is nothing like my college professors--he is like a breath of fresh air. Took this course during a Thursday 10 am class. Our instructor was Connor. Upon arriving at the location, there is a sign outside the door that asks for students to wait 10 minutes prior to class to enter. Upon entry, Connor was behind a desk, taking attendance and handing out books to us individually. He was masked and instructed us to wash our hands before class. Once in the classroom, the desks are socially distanced as much as possible and each student had their own safety equipment to work with. They provided alcohol wipes and hand sanitizer for each desk as well. Every student was required to wear masks. The class was very informative and moved at a pace that I personally liked. Connor was very enthusiastic although I know he probably teaches this class more times than he would like. Despite that, he didn't seem annoyed or rushed to get through the content. I felt very comfortable leaving the facility with the knowledge I needed for basic life support and I would highly recommend this place to others. There is a 25 question test at the end, which Connor grades before you leave. It's very straight-forward. Also, don't forget to check-in and receive your free CPR mask. Parking is abundant and free. Btw, the class is mainly run by video and if you choose to bring a notebook to take notes, I would recommend that. We didn't use the book much. But I went through it when I came home and it had a lot of good information and would probably help if you decide to renew. read more

Fantastic PALS initial yesterday with Robert. Only two students (including me) in this in person course; it was a great balance of educational and casual. Robert is extraordinarily knowledgeable with his years of paramedic experience and his own up do date reading of key papers. He kept us engaged and curious, stimulating some great conversations. STS as a facility was awesome as well. They are the only PALS initial offered in a 1day course I found in the bay area. Also, their giant gallon hand sanitizers with a whole tub of hospital grade wipes on each table and large room, making it easy to maintain 6ft apart all made me feel there is minimal covid risk taking an in person class here. So I went to this class today knowing that my CPR card was near to expire. It's in a new location that's a lot bigger and more conducive for the training. Wendy was the instructor. She was extremely good and very upbeat. I've taken a lot of these classes in my 31 years in EMS. This one was by far the best. She kept it interesting and had other small tips and tricks to keep people's attention at the screen. The end of the class was a 25 question test that if you just read the questions carefully you should pass. If not she helped you correct to pass. The only thing I didn't like about it was that you didn't get a physical CPR card at the end of it. I guess the American Heartt Association now emails electronic cards. if you need to go to one of these classes for your job, I recommend this one strongly. This is now my 2nd or 3rd time renewing my BLS Provider license with STS. This time conditions were a bit different given the Covid environment, and honestly I couldn't have been more pleased with the infection control practices they had in places. All tables were separated, ensuring social distancing. At every work station, a huge jug of hand sanitizer and alcohol spray bottles were available. After every hands-on segment, we were asked to spray and wipe everything down. We were also told that everything was wiped down prior to class. I felt extremely safe and comfortable.
