My husband and I were on our way to a show at the Florida Theater and wanted to grab a quick bit to eat so we stopped in and I am very glad we did! The food was good and so was the service. I had one of the pockets, but honestly I wanted to try absolutely everything on the menu. The Goodfella Pocket it was very good, the flavor was much like that of a traditional pizza hot pocket but the crust was much flakier which I loved. The pocket came with a sauce that I really didn't understand because it did nothing for me, the dipping sauce flavor almost counteracted the flavors of the pocket. I highly recommend getting the Mac and cheese as your side, it was sooo good! Besides no one goes to a gastropub to count calories so go big you won't regret it. After wandering around Downtown and enjoying a couple of drinks while fighting the cold (for Florida), there's nothing better than sitting down for some damn good food. Spliff's Gastropub was the oasis we were looking for when the grumbling in our stomachs got loud enough for bystanders to notice. We were a group of 4, so we dived into a little bit of everything. Mo's Pretzel Bites and Spicoli Wedges came out first. I was so hungry that it wasn't until both appetizers were gone that I realized I hadn't snapped a single pic. The wedges were different, but tasty. The beer cheese sauce for the pretzel bites was phenomenal and we kept looking for excuses to dip other stuff into it. Both were solid starters. Now for the main course extravaganza. The Gordon Bleu Dreams, The Duval Dirty Bird, The Italian Stallion, and a wrap (because someone was trying to be healthy). The Stallion was a surprise hit with its strong spice and robust flavor combo. The Dirty Bird was like an ultra decadent grilled cheese. I easily could've eaten two more of those. The Gordon Bleu was eaten last, so we dented it the least. You expect the Mac & Cheese monstrosity to be super heavy and instead it was flavorful and light. No one needs to know about the wrap. He ate it in shame in the corner of the restaurant. Everything ordered was fantastic (even the wrap according to the health nut). Spliff's is the kind of place where every tastebud will be happy no matter how picky the eater. I recommend grabbing a bite here if you have the chance and checking out the patio during warmer weather. read more

This place has been on my radar for a while. My friend, Susan and I came here for dinner and a drink. I love all of the graffiti and art work all over the place. The line for ordering was almost out the door when we got there. We ordered our food and drinks and was told there was going to be a wait in the food and they would bring it out. I ordered the Hippie Salad. I did not like the raspberry dressing(way too many seeds), so I got some citrus dressing that was very good. Susan ordered a wonderful looking sandwich and a salad came with her meal. We grabbed a table and enjoyed our drinks while we patiently waited for our food. Next time I will try what my neighboring table had: a Mac-n-cheese dish that smelled and looked scrumptious! I will come back. I got the patty melt your face and the max and cheese. The patty melt was super yummy and had really great sauce. The side of Mac and cheese was just okay. I would give this a 4/5 stars because the burger was great, but the Mac and cheese was just eh. Pictures is the patty melt and the pasta salad, which was not great. read more

Funny name but one you'll remember after you visit. Dropped in after a sunset cruise around Jacksonville, purely on a whim and Yelp reviews. Located downtown in a cool corner location the exudes a distinct and fun vibe is Spliff's. You order at the counter from a diverse menu, we ordered a Mac and cheese, a burger, and their version of nachos. Everything came to the table quickly, delivered by two amazing Lady's that made handling the crowd seem like second Nature and were entertaining in their own right. This is the kind of place that would make a great episode or series on the Food Network. The food all exceeded expectations, which were high based on the amazing job the two Lady's were doing. Everything we ordered stood out but the burger, it was on a whole different level, exceptional by every standard! I love spliffs! Jason hunnicut the owner also owns 1904. So smart in his choosing of a restaurant next to an equally awesome music venue! It's nice because you can get great food while your watching the show . Or have a better selection of beers. The back patio is amazing. He put so much work into it . I love it. Working in Jax this week, and needed a place OT walk to go get dinner and the guys wanted a couple of beers So, Spliffs it is. Man, the food is very good. I had a nice salad and a steak rice bowl, and everything g was tasty. The other guys had a variety, and everyone was satisfied with their selections. There was one beer that was 10% and one of our group was a little intoxicated when we left due to not paying attention to what the bartender told him when describing the beer. I met up with my bestie for lunch downtown today. She works down there and has suggested a couple spots. She mentioned Spliff's and I was down. I love hot sandwiches for whatever reason. I think they are a genius invention. She had the 1904 which is a ham sandwich. Since I'm not really into the ham, I decided to give the Duval Dirty Bird a try. I mean with a name like that why the hell not. The Dirty Bird is grilled chicken thigh with pepper jack cheese, their Caribbean habanero ranch, BACON and lettuce. I got it on wheat toast with a side of mac and cheese. When it came to the table steam was still rolling off the plate. The sandwich was filling and tasty! It wasn't too busy and we went around 12:30. I was worried about the lunch rush. I would def recommend it and there are tons of good sammiches to choose from for all tastebuds. It's nearly impossible to find edible food around downtown/San Marco after 9pm which is ridiculous for a "big" city(bb"s is only other edible option I know of open until 10).
