Listen... some places just get it--and SD Luggage is definitely one of them…read more I bought luggage here about 8 or 9 years ago, and let me tell you... they've been THAT spot ever since. What I absolutely love is that they truly have something for every budget. Whether you're trying to travel cute on a coin or splurge a little, they got you covered without making your wallet cry. The variety? Customer kiss Different styles, sizes, colors--you can find your whole travel vibe in one stop. And they're really good at pairing pieces together for a great price, like... why make it hard when they make it make sense? I needed something ASAP this time, and boom--found exactly what I was looking for without that overpriced, luxury-store pressure. Just good quality, fair pricing, and options on options. Now let's get into the customer service... TOP. TIER. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and valued--not rushed, not ignored, just genuine help and good energy. So before you go running around San Diego checking all these other spots, do yourself a favor and start here first. Trust me... you'll find what you need AND keep your coins in check. And as always--you can thank me later

But to my surprise, it was smooth sailing. The border patrol on the way into Mexico asked what we were doing down there and just asked some normal questions, and we were on our way. My passport hadn't been used in…read moreseveral years and I though since I was in San Diego, why not make a trip across the border and get myself a new stamp...spoiler alert, I didn't get a stamp :( So I guess this will be a two part review as it gives the aspect of enter Mexico and entering the US. Each side is different and each side has it's own set of rules. Some good, some give you pause, and the agents might want to loosen up a bit when someone is new to this. As you can tell it was my first time crossing the border to Mexico. Each country you visit is a bit different and this wasn't any different in that aspect. After making the long walk from the transit station we were finally inside and approaching the gates. When we approached we were given our forms to fill out and bring to the desk once we completed them. The agents on the Mexico side were stern but understanding when we had questions on what was needed on the form. Once I had mine completed, I was onto the agent, where he looked it over, signed off on it, gave me a slip of paper and with no stamp, I was onto the next section. Security. Much like security at an airport you need to have you bags and items scanned and then make your way to the exit. Being that I was waiting for the rest of my group to clear security I stood around and took it in. Not much in aspect of to see, bathroom for use if you paid, and then you kind of shuffle out the exit down into Tijuana. To note, do not take a picture in here or video. You will get hit with a hefty fine. Once through the checkpoint you are free to explore. My god is it a chaotic mess when you finally walk down to street level. Tons of street vendors with souvenirs and food and taxis all trying to get you to take their vehicle in hopes of being able to get back here for the next fare. When you get to see the border for vehicles when making your way back, wow. It is out of this world and kind of mind boggling to see that many vehicles backed up for a checkpoint. Then you make your way back through a long walkway with shops along it. Your last chance to get items duty free before going to the US. Now, the US portion of the border is just as chaotic, but everything in here feels brighter. But brighter doesn't always translate to quicker. I was just as confused and anxious here as I was going across. It is crazy to figure out which line is going to be you quickest way to get outside. I entered a line that I thought was going to be great. No one was in the line. When I approached the gate/desk, I walked up to it and thought I'd get right through. As I started to walk I was told to go back and wait, so I did. Then I see the agent wave for someone to walked up. Seeing that I was the only one standing there and no other lines directly next to me I approach again, only to be told to go back. I do again. Then he waves yet again and I approach. This time the agent, on the verge of yelling, tells me to go back. Basically making me think that I should have been able to read his mind that he was calling someone from a few lines over to come to him. How am I supposed to know that. I was ready to go through, no one near me, waving to move forward. Thank god that another agent at the desk/gate across from him waved me over. Yes, he actually waved me over. This agent was much nicer and a delight to deal with. We made idle chitchat about why was over in Mexico (to be nosy), why I was in San Diego (for work), what I did for work (come to find out that what I do for work impacts him). He was much more kind and gentler in his approach to the situation. After that debacle was over, back through security and you walk out to the plaza in hopes that the transit train is there waiting for you.

Alan, who owns this company, immediately responded to my inquiry about a cost estimate for a round trip pick up and drop off from Chula Vista to the TJ airport. The price was very reasonable and at first I was hesitant to book since I could not find reviews online but reading his website I made the decision to book with him and I'm glad I did! Alan picked me up promptly and even agreed to pick up my family at another location nearby. I found out that he lives in TJ with his family so he knows the area well and that he has been taking people not only to the airport in TJ but also drive people (including some businessmen) around the city and beyond (Ensanada, Rosarito, etc) I paid him half when he dropped us off at the airport and then the rest when he dropped us home after we came back from our trip. I would definitely book another service with him the next time I fly from Tijuana or even a day trip to the southern part of Baja California.

Like others I found this fellow on tripadvisors and most were good reviews. But in this case Alan, the owner, left four of us stranded at TIJ airport Sunday, Dec. 5 @ 7:30pm with no phone calls or messages alerting me of a problem, and I had pre-paid in advance with Paypal as he insisted! He was late by 35 minutes picking us up in San Ysidro for the transfer to TIJ airport on our outbound flight a week earlier, which could have, but didn't tip me off yet to his false promise of service. Do NOT trust him or his service the way we did unless you prefer lip service to real service. I have still NOT received a phone call or message, apologizing or explaining what went wrong...even a lame excuse would have been better than none. There was NO MISCOMMUNICATION with pick-up day or time on our return either. I sent two emails which he confirmed weeks earlier, talked with him about it on the ride to TIJ and a third email while in Mexico reminding him of the pick-up on Sunday. Needles to say, for the first visit to Tijuana Airport and arriving at night to get abandoned by your transfer company turned out to be a harrowing experience for my wife, her older sister (age 60), brother-in-law (age 65) and myself. From transfer across the border to hoofing it on foot with all our luggage was not a pretty sight. Stay CLEAR OF THIS GUY AND HIS COMPANY!! He talks a good line but does not deliver.

We worked with Cathy and while trying to decide on a destination (we had several on our list), were impressed at her in depth knowledge of what seemed to be everything related to traveling. She's very passionate and experienced as a traveler, as well as in her field as an agent. Her advice and insight definitely led us to feeling confident in all of our planning decisions. Cathy put together several itineraries for us and was always available, with a quick turn around time whenever we had any questions. Working with a travel agency can also be really pricey, but Carefree will work with you to customize a package that will fit within your budget. I especially appreciated Cathy's patience and all of the time she spent with us, whether it was communicating in person, on the phone, or email. Thank you again, Cathy, for making the planning of our honeymoon such a breeze.

The woman who said she could help me didn't even let me finish stating my problem (not even halfway through) when she just started nodding her head vigorously and saying she wouldn't help me. I walked out less than 5 minutes after I walked in. It was rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional to not even let me ask her my question. Not to mention that when I walked in, there were about 4 people there but no one attempted to help me until after a solid 30 seconds of standing there like a deer in the headlights. I took my business elsewhere (to VeryBest Travel in Bonita, CA) and they were not only willing to solve my problem, but did so in less than an hour. It doesn't cost anything to be nice and to hear a customer out to see if you can help them. Obviously, my problem wasn't so "impossible" to solve that less than an hour later another travel agency was able to help me and did solve my problem. Needless to say, I will NEVER be returning here.
