My family and I have used Spinnakers reach many times in the past and have not had any serious issues. We have found dirty underwear left behind and we have replaced AC filters and some problems with the AC working properly, but we have dealt with it. However, this year we booked Sunny Bunz because it clearly said that it was pet friendly and that is what we were looking for. Come to find out, in smaller print, it said no pets allowed. When speaking with someone at Spinnakers reach about this issue, they backed up the homeowner instead of us paying guests. It is clearly misleading to have pet friendly on a site and not allow pets. We would not have booked this house if we had known that it was not pet friendly as stated. The realty company said "that is part of a standard amenities category that identifies pet-related features that may be present at a property if pets are permitted. It is not intended to indicate that pets are allowed." I haven't seen this on houses that don't allow pets before. However, if you look up the meaning of a pet friendly rental property it clearly says, "When a beach rental is labeled pet friendly, it means the property allows pets." That statement has since been removed from the Sunny Bunz listing. I wonder why they needed to remove it since according to them, it doesn't mean anything. I will not be booking with Spinnakers any more due to these shady dealings and not sticking up for the paying renters. I tried to handle this in a nice way with choices of allowing the small pet or refunding my money to be able to book something else, but they wouldn't agree. Save yourself some trouble and book with someone trustworthy! read more

The rental company is completely indifferent to any issues that arise and can affect your vacation. We specifically rented a house with a heated pool for the kids to enjoy this year since Sept is historically cooler. Only to get there and the heating pump be BROKEN and never fixed while we were there. We were told "well it worked yesterday when we tested it!" The part never arrived, we were there for a total of 7 days. We had to call each time to check on progress, they didn't even have the decency of communication. We paid a premium for this house BECAUSE it has the option of a heated pool (many do not in this neighborhood, we know because we went to each house that does last year specifically to pick this house for this year), they could not have cared less. No attempts to make it right, no attempts to remedy, just shrugged shoulders that "these things happen." For $8,000 for 1 week, these things should NOT happen or at minimum a pro-rated rate should have been honored. Also, belongings went missing from our driveway moments after their team pulled the trash bin up to the street. At first we gave benefit of the doubt maybe they thought it was trash? Nope, we were told we were the first people to "ever" accuse their team of theft.... so if it wasn't them it could have been the numerous other people using our driveway as a public access to the beach. If you want a fully private house, driveway included, DO NOT RENT WISHING WHALE. All the houses from the cul-de-sac used OUR driveway to access the beach the ENTIRE week. Not one day went by that a stranger wasn't strolling down our driveway to cut through to the next door house's beach access. Either way, feels like a rental/community issue as we leave things outside every single year, and never ever had anything stolen from us. This is the first year we've had strangers meandering in our driveway. Seems suspicious. We thought this was a safe community. At other homes we used to leave the doors unlocked during the day for ease of the family, NOT AT THIS HOUSE, NOT WITH A BABY SLEEPING INSIDE AND STRANGERS ACCESSING OUR DRIVEWAY ALL DAY. We will be returning to EI Realty where they actually care about their renters and ensure our vacation and money is very well spent. It's a shame, we had a great 6 summer run with Spinnakers and would have had 30 more. But the bad taste in our mouth has us wanting nothing to do with this entire community. Such a shame because the homes and neighborhood are absolutely beautiful, tucked away in our favorite part of the island. But you are only as good as the company who represents you. BEWARE!!!! We stayed at Isle Getaway for the last 5 years. No issues. BUT. This year we arrive and find that the owner had put limits on the AC..and NO ONE had notified us, communicated with us.. NOTHING.! I thought I rented the Entire beach house ! Not just parts of it! ! We were stunned! This is a 4 story Beach house ,with 3 BR on the the 3 Rd floor! After a very hot, distressing night with very little sleep for all ,after the owner had " fixed" the controls . I had to go BACK to office the next morning ,to BEG Spinnaker's Reach and owner to help again. It was awful ! How did this happen that NO ONE spoke to me about this!????? BEFORE WE GOT TO THE HOUSE! We always been good guests. We do not leave the doors open. And I have gotten my deposit back each year! Like I said we have rented the same house for the Last years without AC controls!!!? The SR people did reach out to the owner again. And offered a portable AC unit for the bedroom that was the warmest. It has always been warmer than the rest of BR on the 3 floor! But what good would that have been for the rest of my guests? He did take off the all the controls the next morning ,! BUT I have been informed that next year!!! Temps only going down to 70?!? I have found them to be responsive to complaints, but not doing proper maintenance on the beachfront homes to begin with. Have had very disappointing interactions with them post rental, and a total lack of awareness regarding the impact this can have on a vacation. read more

My family and I traveled from Northern New Jersey to Emerald Isle for an family vacation. When I arrived my parents - who rented the property for the week - there were problems with the HVAC unit. The downstairs was ice cold, while the upstairs was easily in the mid 80s. When they arrived, the house was already at 84 degrees. The first night was hot and humid. Not what you'd expect to pay for a few thousand dollars for a week long rental. Everyone was uncomfortable - from a 94 year old woman to a 1 year old boy. Waking up humid from sweating because the AC isn't working isn't a good start to a vacation. What made it worse, is that we called and left messages for management on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Maintenance had come over to try to fix the problem and had told us that this was now the second time in as many weeks that there was a problem with their air-conditioning unit. So it was clear that this was a problem last week but that it wasn't resolved properly. When we spoke to someone from management on Tuesday, they had told us that this was the first time that they ever heard of this problem. That response lack integrity and was insulting to our intelligence. They then tried to let us know that getting approval from the owner to pay for necessary repairs could take time. It would've been great to know that had they return the call within the first 24 hours of us letting them know that there was an issue. The fact that we had to escalate this was a problem. I cannot in good conscience recommend doing business with Spinnaker's Reach Realty. Ultimately the lack of consideration combined with the lack of integrity is why I won't do business with them again. There are lots of choices on Emerald Isle, in terms of where to do business. read more

Our vacation was a dark memory due to the condition of the home, my husband falling down stairs and being hurt (no hand rails on wall) and the lack of comfort. I reported this to Kyle via a review but he said it wouldn't be published because of new owners. He wanted to give them time to fix the home. There doesn't seem to be any concerns for their guests. We paid over $5,000 for a week in a shabby home. I will never rent from this company again. I would consider their actions to be shady at best. read more

A huge shout out to Emerald Isle Realty and Spinnaker's Reach Realty. We live in Oregon and have been planning our vacation in Emerald Isle all year. (The ocean in Oregon is SO COLD!) Two weeks ago Emerald Isle Realty found out that one side of our 4 bedroom bduplex wasn't going to be available because the hurricane repairs wouldn't be finished. Their realtor reached out to the other realty companies looking for a property big enough for our group. Spinnaker's Reach Realty came through for us, providing a beautiful house that's going to make this week amazing rather than the big disappointment it could have been. It's such a pleasure to have a home in a community run by the staff at "Spin". One cannot describe the value of having such a thorough and efficient group monitoring my investment. They are family. In a recent incident the hot water heater started to leak. One would think that here in the heart of winter that it would not be hard to imagine that it wouldn't be noticed for days if not weeks. Yet within a day they noticed it and before they even called me they set the wheels in motion that minimized the loss and started getting repairs made. This is only one instance where they have been either very helpful or saved the day. Having onsite management cannot be minimized in it's value. Judy, Mindy, Lu, Brian, Kyle, Mattias and yes even Randy, have been a valuable resource guarding my investments in that community. And even more so they are a warm and friendly group that I love. read more

Our extended family gathers for an annual beach vacation and this was our first time at Emerald Isle. The staff at Spinnaker's Reach was extremely friendly, attentive and helpful from the time of our initial reservation throughout our entire stay. They were very proactive to make sure the pool was not over chlorinated and that we had everything we needed. Check out was very easy- all you had to do was get your stuff out and take out the trash. We liked that linens were included, that they have single-stream recycling and they take any unopened food and donate it to charity. The only negative was we barely saw anyone there who wasn't white. We rented using VRBO and there seemed to be no overt vetting, but we encountered a fair number of rebel flags flying in the area, so that might explain why a place where "nice matters" might seem otherwise if you don't fit a certain profile. That said, our family had a great experience. read more
