Gated condo community on the beach. There are both homeowners only and rental units available. The unit I used twice is 2020 had three bedrooms (one master and two smaller) full kitchen, washer/dryer, living room, dining table, and a small balcony. All units include wifi and cable tv. During the tourist season, everyone is required to have a wrist band at all times. Everyone has access to the outdoor and indoor pools, hot tubs, and indoor recreation facilities. I was impressed by the staff of the facility, who are professional in taking care of the facility and the guests. In-season during the pandemic restrictions, they were often checking the pool area for wristbands and making sure nothing was over capacity, At the first sign of an afternoon storm they were quickly moving people out of the pools and securing beach umbrellas, etc. If you want to party at the beach, this is not the place. If you are looking for a safe and relaxing place to vacation or live, I highly recommend Summer Winds. read more

Went to buy candy from the arcade room and the guy with long hair and a black lip piercing gave us a hard time for just trying to buy candy. Worst customer service ever. I would recommend you talk to him to learn how to talk to customers. read more

We rented unit c320. I'd go back or even move here in a heartbeat. The condo was clean and well decorated. Standard kitchen equipment included beat up pots and pans and the usual coffee maker etc. the condo had three nice sized bedrooms, but the two bathrooms weren't accessible from a hallway. We had to go through the bedrooms to get to them. Wasn't a big deal but just strange. The unit was surprisingly quiet. We didn't hear anything going on outside or in other units. While this means we weren't bothered by other tenants, it also meant we couldn't hear the ocean from inside the condo. There's a very nice balcony with plenty of seating off the living room with great views though. The outside area is very well maintained. The staff is always present but very unobtrusive. The pool area is very clean and spacious with plenty of tables and loungers. I loved the town of Emerald Isle! It's a bit of drive to stores but it's a pretty drive. Highly recommend. :) read more

Summer Winds condos are well known by those who have vacationed at the beach in North Carolina, particularly near Emerald Isle - Crystal Coast. Summer Winds is like your home away from home, plus much more. 3 decent sized swimming pools to serve the three arcs of condos. In addition, there are 3 walkways entrances from the condos to the beach. You are literally right on the beach. There is a sports complex center. At first glance, it may seem like a joke but it's enough to entertain the kids. In it is a mini library of used books where you and your kids can check out. There's also a small selection of DVD's that you can rent out. There is a small arcade for kids and adults to play. There's also a small fountain counter where one can order ice cream and whatnots. Downstairs, there is a small gym where one can workout, play racketball, ping pong or sit in a hot tub. So, in a way, if you're in the mood to never ever drive out from the condo but just be a beach bum, Summer Winds has got you covered. Summer Winds gives you that sense of privacy by posting guards. You have to have a tag in your car in order for them to let you in. The condo where me, my partner and his family stayed in was lovely and colorful. We had the perfect view of the swimming pool and the beach. I come from vacation and tell my co-workers about it. Everyone is like..."oh yeah, Summer Winds, I always stay there when I go down there". So, apparently, it is THE place to stay when vacationing at the beach in NC. It is going to set you back financially but it'll be worth it. read more

There were many good things about this place, but also many things I'd find it difficult to overlook when thinking about coming back. Let's start with the good. The condo my family and I stayed in had a decent balcony overlooking the beach and several rooms with good views. There is a sports complex with a handful of games, a pool table, an exercise room, and a small indoor pool and hot tub. The games were enough to keep us entertained for maybe an hour. The main outdoor pool was great, and there was usually adequate seating and shade around it for everyone. The snack bar and food near the pool was decent and had pretty good drinks! The beach in front of the condo was beautiful, and the sand was amazingly soft. Inside the condo, the place seemed cleaned and well cared for. And one of the best things was the food truck across the street!! It had some of the best seafood I've had in a long time. Now for the bad: The condo was a 3 bedroom, with one master and two other smaller rooms with a shared bathroom. Only problem was that all of the bathrooms were "captive." You had to go into a bedroom to get to them, and the two smaller rooms shared one in a jack and Jill set up. Granted that's a minor complaint really, but it was weird not to have a bathroom entry from a hallway. Let's just say there were awkward moments with that set up. The pictures of the condo we stayed in looked much bigger than it actually was. We felt cramped in there. From day one, the internet and phone service were spotty at best. Many of us had no cell reception in the condo, and the free Wi-Fi was slow and had many limitations. Most phone or tablet apps were not useable. On Tuesday after we arrived, we discovered that the cable TV was no longer working. So we spent the rest of the evenings without TV. Might sound like a small complaint, but we had an elderly family member with us who had nothing to do without stable internet and functioning television. We don't know if it was turned off due to that condo's owner nonpayment, or if it was some sort of malfunction for the entire complex. Based on the message on the screen, it looked more like nonpayment. Either way, that was an issue. While it was nice to have several grocery stores and pharmacy stores on the island, they are a bit of a drive from the condo because they are both on the opposite side of the island. Depending on traffic, it was maybe 20 minutes to get there. The last issue we had was that the beach access points were not really convenient to the entry and exit areas of the condo. You couldn't easily "just run back inside quickly for a bottle of water." Maybe this is laziness, but it was a little annoying having to ensure we packed everything, then lugging it all down and back. The bottom line: There were many good things about the condo and complex in general. The bad things didn't prevent most of my family from having a nice vacation. Some Staff is abusive, management incompetent and their idiotic bracelet system does not prevent trespassers because no one ever checks people coming up off the beach. They have also had a bed bug problem in the past in one building. Management always sides with staff no matter how abusive they are to renters or homeowners. read more

Summer Winds is amazing! I am a third generation renter of this condominium and have been staying here for 24 years on vacation in multiple different units. Unit 233 is the best one that I have stayed in over the years! Summer Winds is safe, clean, and family friendly. There are kind, helpful security guards that monitor the premises on a regular basis. The pools and other facilities are clean and freshly painted. The beach itself is clean and large. Most people on the beach are families, couples, or residents of the area. It is very safe and laid back. Everything (pools, beach, etc.) are easily accessible by a minimal walk. The island that holds the Crystal Coast is family friendly and offers the relaxing feel of an actual vacation. I can't recommend staying at Summer Winds enough; you will not regret it! read more

We stayed with friends in 439B in a fabulously decorated four bedroom condo. We overlooked the pool and the ocean, what a view. New bamboo floors and upscale bathrooms and bedrooms. We will request this unit the next time we visit the beach. read more

If I could give it zero stars that would be more appropriate. Stayed in 301 during end of July 2018. The condo was outdated and dirty. Couch was stained and wet when we arrived. Our family rented three condos there and anyone who stayed there and some that visited were sick with the niro virus. We had been in contact with the office from the beginning of our stay to inform them of the conditions/complaints. We also sent them a certified letter and they have completely ignored us. It's a great place to go and relax. A lot of amenities. 3 outdoor pools and a hot tub plus an indoor pool. It also has 2 racquet ball courts and 2 tennis courts. I could have missed something. Oh yeah a fitness center. read more

We rented a 3B/2B unit of 212A for a long weekend for Mother's Day. Upon arrival on Friday, the front door would not unlock easily with either of the two keys provided. It took 5-10 minutes of playing with the lock to gain access. Contacted Agent (who provided a master key with the same results, therefore entire stay we had to play with the key lock unlock the door. Next came the issue with the hall bathroom toilet. Every time the toilet was flushed, the toilet water and contents would splash up over the seat rim requiring clean-up of a disgusting mess. We contacted the Agent who advised us they would have plumber come and resolve the issue on Saturday. By 3PM on Saturday, plumber had not came and contacted the Agent again. We was advised they would not be able to repair toilet issue until Monday and the 5 of us would need to share the master bedroom for remainder of our stay. The Agent did not offer any other resolutions like moving us to a different unit nor seemed to care. Also, we tried to locate a contact to assist at the actual resort to assist and none was available. I would not recommend this vacation rental agency of Realty World First Coast Realty nor Summer Winds to anyone. If I could give a lower rating then 1 star I would. Donna M. North Carolina read more

The employees at the restaurant or whatever you want to call it are rude. I came off the beach and when getting the sand off myself, got my $20 bill wet. I went into the restroom to try and dry it off then entered the restaurant from the entrance closest to the restroom. I walked in and the first employee, a woman asked what I would like. A second employee, a male jumped in and asked if I was wet (the inside was completely empty mind you, not that that matters). I said yes, he asked me to goto the outside order station, which made sense to me, and I went. I then stood at the counter, empty restaurant inside, no line outside for at least two minutes. The female associate opened the door and asked (again, and I did tell her the first time but whatever)) what I would like. I commented that it was a little off to make me wait like that and she replied, well what do you want. I don't think she was trying to be rude, I think the other guy was and they work in a restaurant that sucks at being what it's supposed to be. You may ask why I give this place four stars, that's because if you came here for food your dumb. The rooms are great, view is awesome, easy access to the beach. It's just anything else (food bar, pool, arcade etc.) Is either so far gone from what it used to be or is just run by people that I described above. Security staff is always super friendly and helpful I might add. read more
