I'll give 3 stars because my first interaction was pleasant... But the new guy Aaron is really abrasive, he was sighing a lot and had a look of pure frustration on his face when I first walked in. Regardless I paid for labor , 15$ for a literal 5 min job , replacing a tire and inflating the tire, so while waiting I took my dog for a walk outside the store, I realized I didn't want the tire inflated So I call on the phone while walking my dog, when I mentioned this to him he relied (very stern and short) "Too bad , it's already done............................ " Ok like I just paid 15$ for a 3 min maneuver and you don't offer to deflate it and use such ab as I've language . Ugh , disgusting service, Aaron left a bad taste in my mouth. Gross. Stopped in with my bike to have the alignment of the handlebars to the front tire looked at. I was prepared to leave the bike there to have it serviced. Aaron looked at it and within minutes he had it straightened out and had me on my way. Also inflated both tires and educated me on how to fill the tires and keep them from deflating. Sales sell the first one and service like this sells the next one and keeps customers coming back in. I was referred to this place and now I know why. Great service! read more

We were among Greg and Ted's first customers back when they opened the store in 1996-1997, and it's the only bike shop I'll trust with my bike or any of the other three we've purchased from Spin Doctor since then. When we missioned for a year at Black Forest Academy, they boxed up our bikes for shipping for free. Greg is never to busy to help us find something we need, big or small. Great bike shop. I brought in a bike that hadn't been ridden in years. They tuned it up, replaced the chain and it looks and rides like new.

I left this review on Google, and figured I'd leave it here as well. What a great shop, and great people here. I'm a perfectionist and really appreciate someone who is extremely competent and skilled at their craft...especially these days as it's hard to come by. Greg and his staff are very very good at what they do, and very nice people too! They were able to set me up with an awesome Giant Trance, and since I can never leave anything alone, they hooked me up with some nice upgrades and really just did high quality work through all of my "changes" on this bike, as well as my hard tail, and even my wifes bike. Would highly recommend them for any bike purchase and for any work/maintenances/repairs that you might need on any bike. *Re-reading my review I notice that it sounds very sales-pitchy. Well here we go. I cannot stress enough how much I love this place and the level of service you get here. I am now starting my second year of cycling , so I am a total newbie. I love it though and any question stupid or not, has been answered and not in a condescending way. (I'm looking in you general direction Performance) This place is great for the pros, there are a lot that shop here, and newbs like me. I found there is a general chauvinistic attitude towards female riders at the big box bicycle shop, I do not get that feeling here. In fact Greg, the owner, is very helpful, respectful and just a very nice guy in general. He and his staff are very knowledgable and in the summer this place is busy like crazy, get there early. Bikes tend to be better brands and higher end models, they also special order bikes, so this is a great place for the serious rider. Had a return last summer of an accessory I was not happy with, not the fault of the product or store, it didn't fit my needs. No hassle return and exchanged for an item that worked out better. Great for accessories and tunes-ups, get your bike in early, it will take about a week in some cases. They are a smaller shop than the big chain, but vive la différence! Well worth it on many levels. read more

Circle of life stuff- our only son's first bike - Specialized Fatboy was purchased here. This week 20+ years later I 'subsidized' his next purchase. Giant Defy Advanced - no better team than the one at Spin Doctors. They sized him, swapped out a 'blazè' white saddle for an hot matching Red/Black number. Helped him get oriented with a Disc Brake and wireless instrument system. Can't say enough about Greg's shop. ps: even works on Vikings fan's bikes! read more

Found my go-to bike place. This review may be a little preemptive but I really enjoyed my first encounter here. I came in with one of our bikes that the movers put together wrong. I knew it'd be an easy fix but Greg really knows his way around a bike and had it fixed up in less than 5. Just needed brakes reattached and chain put on correctly. He was very welcoming and didn't charge me, he said to consider it a welcome to the community. I'll be back for sure if I need any more parts or repairs, especially since he loves Specialized bikes. read more

I broke off the seat of our Trek bike. Must be extra strong arms these days or something...The owner said to bring it in and replaced the part for me on the spot without making a big deal about it. I didn't have warranty nor had I bought the bike here. We were also educated about the life span of bike helmets, so we picked a new helmet for my daughter. The helmet price was great and we paid nothing for the repair of my bike. The owner also loaded the bike into my van. We will be back with all our biking needs! Oh and they rent those travel storage bins that you attach to the roof of your car. Will definetely use that service in the future! read more

Bought a Giant hybrid bike there last summer after not having a bike for about ten years. The staff there were very good. The follow up customer service was great--I needed several adjustments to the handle bars. I also needed a new longer stem by by 10 mm and they ordered it and switched it out for free. One younger sales guy was a bit over the top with pressure for accessories but it was tolerable. Also, he couldn't fit a bike nearly as good as the owner. Also, a young lady there as well as the owner there were very accommodating in keeping the store open for a couple minutes on two occassions for some bike adjustments. They have a good selection and the owner really knows his stuff--could be a tad more friendly though... Small place but good value for the money simply because of the after-purchase assistance alone. Buying a bike is a lot of money and they make me feel like I was still getting something long after I made the purchase because of their help. They don't negotiate much on price. I have recommended them to others and will go back for other supplies. read more

Unlike other bike shops the guys who work here don't act they are doing you a favor when they help you out. I go out of my way to go to this shop when I can. Rather give my money to a place that is not run by a bunch of folks who act as though they are curing cancer when they are only wrenching on bikes as I have experienced in the Fox Valley region. read more

Consistent 5-star reviews don't lie!! This shop was a little out of our way, but we decided to make the drive because of the great reviews and we were not disappointed. They have a great selection of bikes (although we went to have one assembled and didn't really shop.) Took our bike in - told the guy what we needed and then he told us they'd have it done by Monday at the latest (it was Saturday afternoon and the shop is closed on Sunday.) I was a little bummed because the bike was a birthday present for my son, but I also knew that I had dropped the ball on bringing it by sooner, so couldn't fault the shop for my lack of planning. I happened to mention to the guy that it was for my son's birthday and if they could get it done any sooner, we didn't expect it, but would be greatly appreciative. He told me he would check with his repair guy and if they had a lull, they'd squeeze it in. We went down the street for lunch and before we could finish that they were already calling us to let it know it was done!! Great, fast service. They've gained a customer in us, for life and made one 4 yr old's birthday very special! read more

The team here was wonderful. Courtesy, knowledgeable cycling expertise, and amazingly prompt service. My bike needed a serious overhaul, and I went in expecting that they'd say it would need new tires, etc. Instead, I was told that the bike was in relatively good condition, but it just needed a tune-up. Went to several bicycle shops around the Chicagoland area and tried different brands out. Spin Doctor had one of the models I was interested in so I stopped by to check it out. The owner took the time to set up the bike and make certain adjustments that I asked to really get the feel of the bike. I asked if putting bigger tires would improve the ride and he said he could put a set on for me to try out the following morning. That is above and beyond what I was expecting any shop to do. I came back in the next morning and the bike was ready to try out. It felt great and I took it home with me. I would highly recommend this shop. read more
