I just now saved $960 today by going to Kehoe Automotive, and here's how they just became my…read moreFAVORITE auto shop: About two weeks ago, the manual transmission on my '97 Honda Civic was getting extremely hard to shift in the morning, and only got better when the car warmed up. I took it to my usual place (rhymes with cartels, and that's a very appropriate word for them), and even though they put in a brand new clutch pressure plate and resurfaced the flywheel at a cost of $970 three years ago, they wanted to do the exact same repairs, but at a cost of $1270 this time around. I know that most clutches just don't go out like this in 30,000 miles, so I took the car to Kehoe and they found out pretty quickly that the clutch was perfectly fine... it was a leaky clutch master cylinder reservoir. They noticed fluid leaking from the master cylinder actuator shaft seal. Kehoe replaced the clutch master cylinder, bled the clutch hydraulic system, and the owner Dave even came to pick me up at my house to bring me back to their garage when everything was finished. The total cost for all of the work done at Kehoe... $308. That's nearly a grand less than what *artel's wanted to do to my car for repairs I didn't even need! It's SO nice to finally find a local auto shop that won't try to upsell and get you to buy what your car doesn't need, but will explain in detail exactly what your car does need, and they'll get it done quickly. As I left, i instantly noticed the noise was still there. I brought it back and was told it's the wheel bearing. Okay but then why did you tell me it was my cracked muffler? He said, well it was still cracked and needed to be repaired. I said ok, but i brought it in for the loud noise and that was not resolved. he said i told him my muffler was loud. I dont get it I am not a mechanic, he is. Why would they repair based off of a customer that doesn't know anything about mufflers. They took it out for a test drive and lifted it to examine it before repairing so they should have noticed this. Now I am down hundreds and supposed to pay them another 500 for the repair I initially came for. Just infuriating.

And my car doesn't make a bunch of noise anymore. These guys know what they're doing and how to care for their customers. They're humble in their work and business. You will be able to find it, just give them a call and they will direct you about 2 minutes nearby. I needed some exhaust work done in a pinch, called them, they said they could take me in, 20 minute later after getting lost and such, the car was up on the lift. The exhaust I purchased even though it was made for the car, had issues with fitment. The only resolution was to cut both flanges and weld the pipes together. Wasn't my favorite idea but I didn't want to ship the exhaust back and deal with a restock fee, etc. I would lose more money that way as it was and on top of it, wanted to hear out it sounded. I was quoted $80 for the labor and materials (despite how little material there was to get worked with..), and while it wasn't the best price in the world, the two workers I initially dealt with seemed to know their trade and I figured again, to save the hassle on shipping the exhaust back, restock fee, then wait for another exhaust... just wasn't worth it. So I accepted. They completed the work in under 20 minutes. It sounded great. Funny thing was, the owner came by in the middle of the fabrication work and was the one that finished welding the pipes together. When he was done, I was paying him the $80 dollars and he said,"okay man, let me get you change." (I think they are cash only) The owner was going to operate for me at a lower price. Imagine that. What a good guy - not sure if his employee was trying to rip me off or if the owner just wanted to cut me a deal, either way- I appreciated it from his end and told him that I was honest and that the other guy quoted me $80.00 so he could keep it, he thanked me and likewise, and about 45 minutes, I was already heading home. Overall, great guys, not sure about again the amount I paid, I will just chalk it up as "it could have been better, but definitely could have been worse." Would I come here again? Yes. I went to the shop for a transmission fluid change. They charge me 225. I look under my truck after…read morethe service, its bone dry. Doesnt look like they touched it or cleaned it or changed the washers. I go back to ask what they did and why the plugs dont have any new washers. Because they dont look like theyve been touched. Transmission fluid leaves residue and even cleaning with brake cleaner would leave evidence. The tech told me he filled it and drained it from the level plug. Which makes no sense because the level plug indicates its full and isnt a low point to drain the pan. He said he has special tools to drain and fill from the level plug. In my mind im thinking BS. I wanted a refund. I dont think they did the service but they charged me anyway. Dont go here if you value honesty and integrity. The feeded me bs saying the level plug which indicates is full is where they drained it. You can see from my pictures none of the bolts look cleaned or even touched. No residue of oil, or cleaner because it looks like nothing was done to it.
