They have really tasty snack options! You can order your food all the way in the back and snag a table to wait while it's being prepared. I LOVED split milk! The drinks were SO GOOD & super affordable. Their snack / food items were great too. I highly recommend the cauliflower wings if you need a bite to eat while here. Great cocktail bar. The bar is large and has a ton of stools, and there are lots of tables and booths. Service was friendly and fast, and the bartender recommended a drink that I would like which was helpful. I enjoyed The Devil Made Me Do It, which was delicious. When I first heard there'd be an unaffiliated social event here, I incorrectly assumed Spilt Milk was a café; lo and behold, it is a cocktail bar! Now, you know that Ritual Spirit-Free stuff which it seems every other bar has? I once tried the 'tequila' in a shot. Big mistake, never again -I'd rather drink Malört. Why am I telling you this? Because, in my opinion, one of the measures of a great cocktail bar is how good its mocktails are. Ritual is nowhere on the menu, and the Chai Bella mocktail was fan-freaking-tastic. It was exactly what a mocktail should be... and, as per the bartender, they stay far away from Ritual. The Chai Bella was perfectly balanced, with a sweet bitterness from the Ghia Aperitif (non-alcoholic), sweetness and tartness from pineapple and lemon, and, of course, sweetness and chai flavors from the chai tea syrup. It's the kind of mocktail I would happily down three of! Then there was the service. The bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided great hospitality. He consistently checked in to make sure I was all set while waiting for a group, but in no way was he overbearing or did I feel compelled to buy another drink or leave. When the social group assembled, even though many of us were not drinking, we all felt welcome in the space. Speaking of the space, it's what I would call an ideal cross between a dive and an upscale cocktail bar. The vibe is comfortable and homey with just the right amount of upscaleness. The only critique is that initially, when business was quiet, the music was a touch loud for my taste... but bear in mind, I am basically the "Loud Noises!!" guy from Anchorman. With this, while it is a little bit of a hike from where I am in Chicago, I look forward to returning and trying some more of their goodies, liquid and otherwise. read more

My first visit to this establishment was for a Monday evening family dinner. I had always been curious about this bar, but had never actually made it inside. That is kind of a big mistake because it's a really dope bar with a really extensive drink menu. On this occasion, they were partnering with a local restaurant (Umamicue) that does not have a traditional brick and mortar to do on Monday night, Family dinner. It was also Memorial Day so people were down to get some yummy barbecue. Upon arrival, the line was literally out the door and they actually ended up selling out. We were one of the last people that were able to pay for a plate which included a custom cocktail. Overall, the event itself was a success, but I think that when having a very popular restaurant, maybe they should do two times (5pm and 730pm) to ensure that everyone that came out could get a plate. At least 60 people were turned away. I would return to the bar just to have drinks on a regular day. I'm not sure if I would return for a family dinner unless I knew I was gonna be guaranteed a plate. We ended up sharing a plate between 2 people, for me our party of 4. However, I will say the food was really good and I did want more, but it was a bummer because it was just such a limited amount of food on that day. We ended up dining on the outdoor patio and that was really nice. There was a lot of seating and it was colorful and bright back there. My understanding is also a dog friendly patio. All in all I do plan on trying this establishment again. My spicy Margarita was fire. read more

Stop number two on a cocktail crawl. It was a backup for another place that closed earlier than we thought, but I was glad we chose Spilt Milk. A nicely decorated, dark and intimidate space gave it a bit of a speakeasy vibe. We ordered their version of an espresso martini (delicious, rich, perfect pick-me-up for a long night ahead) and an elevated take on a marg (lots of ingredients, but tasted like a standard marg to me). Arrived at Spilt Milk and noticed it's a bit smaller inside compared to the last bar we went to, but the space is really cute and cozy. They have a photo booth too, which is a fun touch! Eh, not sure I loved this place. They have a Sunday meal, but at the door they are very annoyed when you say "what list" when they ask if you are on their list. This is a bar, when we were there (it was summer) they didn't have any frozen drinks and were very annoyed when asked. I felt like saying take it off the menu or cross it out for today. I felt old here and I am not old, and there were old people eating in the back. Overall I felt like my drink wasn't very tasty, and I asked for a Woodford bourbon and they paused as if they didn't know what to do. The music was loud but it was good music. read more

Spilt Milk held the honor of being my first stop on my recent trip to Chicago. Wow, this spot had been on my radar for a while. It is a party inside that is beautifully adorned. The back bar is extensive, and they can cook you up any drink under the sun. I stayed with their menu and got the daq to the future. A wonderful daiquiri variation with the demerara being the star of the show because it bends so perfectly with the rum, THe interior is bustling with groups of friends sharing toasts and company. The bar is long with multiple servers cooking up drinks, working together, and having a great time. The vibes are perfect. It is dimly lit, and feels very divey. However, it is anything but. Bouncer was kinda rude which set a bad tone. The interior and patio is really cute. They had a photobooth that was $7 for two strips (b&w, color) with 4 frames (PHOTOBOOTH DISCLAIMER: there's no visual feedback for the pictures) I wasn't a huge fan of the drinks because there was too much going on and there wasn't the classic cocktails (maybe you can request it? Great place for cocktails! Their menu has some cool festive winter cocktails, along with the classics. If you're allergic to nuts, inform the bartender because there's a few cocktails with nut ingredients. The place is dimly lit, nice for a cute girls night or a date to catch up with a friend or partner. there's free street parking nearby and a CTA bus stop right in front. I had the Paloma Clara and wasn't super head over heels, but my friend said the hot drink was really good! read more

Spilt Milk is a really cool spot for cocktails and vibes. The venue is really open. Upon entrance you're greeted by the bar on one side and a bunch of booths on the other side. There's music blasting but not overly loud so you're still able to have conversations. The house cocktails are tasty. Each cocktail will run you around $16 and they utilize different spirits from gin to baijiu which is cool. Overall, had a nice time would recommend you check them out. read more

They have some good interesting cocktails, we ordered the Erikah Baijiu, Turn the Sage (so good, it's bourbon based) & the real star the Espresso martini (the marty)- the bartender really did it's thing, the coffee and liquor was present! We ordered food at the kitchen window, we had the chubby smash burger, kfc chicken sando & chubby fries- if u like saucy fries this is the one for you! We enjoyed the food, it really hit the spot. They have a outdoor patio, however it seems to fill up quick as we couldn't get a seat, we sat at the bar which was cool. The bartenders were friendly and the service good. We'll definitely be back. Hipster bar located in Logan Square on Fullerton at California. It's known for the interesting and strong cocktails along with the photo booth so you can take drunk pictures. Spilt Milk actually does have a few cocktails with milk in these. Most don't though, and are okay for those who are non dairy. The prices are kind of high, but that's expected for hipster places like these. About the main reason to come are the cocktails, along with the cool atmosphere. It's not a real big bar, but there's room for a group. The photo booth is epic fun, and there's always people getting pictures. It's about $14 for the cheapest cocktails. The best one we had the last time was the Logan Squares. It's bourbon with banana High Life syrup and tobacco bitters. There wasn't like a tobacco taste to it though. First time going here the kitchen wasn't open. Turns out we weren't missing much though. It only has a few small bites. These are mostly meaty items like pork tacos. Only vegan item is a smashed cucumber salad, not worth it. They do sometimes have pop ups come in on an occasion. Great place for cool cocktails and of course that photo booth. It's kind of pricy but you get some good stuff. There's also beers and wines, and sometimes on Mondays they have a pop up with food or whatever. read more

We have been going to Spilt Milk for almost nine years now and absolutely love it. (We bought our home down the block in October 2016 and had our celebratory drinks here the day of our closing.) The old fashioned was ok. The service is borderline disrespectful. Zero acknowledgement walking in the door. Zero acknowledgement when they're finished making your drink. The bartender was too busy chasing a woman clearly out of his league to actually do his job. Not sure if this is a purposeful hipster idgaf attitude or just a terrible employee. A vibe! Thats the best way to sum up this local spot. If you are a sucker/connoisseur for a dim lit, lounge, with great music; this is your spot. The ambience is great. The dim lighting isnt too romantic. So you can bring a date or bring friends or whatever. The bartenders are amazing, great service from initial interaction to receiving my drink. My friend and I went during the day on a Saturday, the place was empty which was great, however as the day went up it did get busy. The drinks are very unique so I would ask questions to then bartender to find what you like. Our bartender was amazing and friendly, I can't remember her name. Passed by so many times and finally got the chance to try it. It was super busy on a Saturday night, but we're able to grab 2 seats at the bar. The service was pretty alright. Love this spot! Great for either date night or drinks with friends. It's like a cocktail bar mixed with a normal chill bar, the best of both worlds. The Moscow mules I got were on point and the servers were great. Was able to walk in on a Friday night and sit down at a table. Good crowd and great vibes. The bartender named, Juan, was especially rude to me and my 15 friends I brought in for my birthday. I visited Spilt Milk on June 14, 2025 at 7:30pm.i went to order a round of drinks. When I saw a specialty cocktail being made next to me, I asked what it was. I politely said, excuse me, "May we please have two of those instead of two vodka sodas please?" He didn't acknowledge us. When I then asked again, "just wanted to confirm that the vodka sodas were being cancelled", He replied: "I heard you, and im not having this conversation with you" multiple of my friends saw the interaction and all of my friends urged me to make this yelp review. have never been treated so disrespectfully and especially since i brought 15+ patrons for my birthday. read more

It's no reservations and no cover, which I think makes the experience a little more relaxed. I ordered the red diamond cocktail, which came with mezcal, cognac, hibiscus, lemon, lime, & absinthe. The flavor mix was really good and I'm hoping to try more drinks there. The jazz quintet was great as well. We just stayed for the first set which lasted until about 10:15, but really enjoyed the skilled musicianship. Definitely enjoyed my experience a lot and hope to be back!

And of course they hand out free hot dogs every night at midnight, which in my (intoxicated) mind was cemented as the definitive Chicago dog, even if it comes with no toppings whatsoever. And fittingly complementing the amazing energy of the bar is a 10 hour Youtube video of that memed Ukrainian kid dancing at a club playing endlessly on the TVs. Rocking sunglasses and looking like a stud, absolutely grooving without a single care in the world, and effortlessly matching every single song on the bar's playlist. That kid truly embodies the spirit of this bar. No matter what day it is, what time of day it is, or who visits, the bar's energy always works. I also have to mention the elote and cornbread because I get them almost every time. The elote is creamy, a little spicy, and goes so well with all that smoky meat. The cornbread is sweet, soft, and perfect alongside the brisket. The service is always really nice. Everyone behind the counter is friendly while you're ordering and they're weighing out the meat, and then after you pay it's self-service. The whole setup is awesome. There's a big open indoor seating area that kind of reminds me of a food hall, with drinks, a coffee shop inside, and big screens where they sometimes have sports on. When the weather is nice, sitting outside is even better. That whole little area around Green Street with the other restaurants nearby has such a good vibe. I've been three different times and somehow my tray ends up looking almost identical every visit, which says everything you need to know. The brisket, elote, and cornbread have basically become my order at this point. Easily my go-to when I'm craving BBQ in Chicago.
