We came in and wound up waiting about 20 minutes at the very front with no one acknowledging us finally, somebody set us and we sat for another 20 minutes before we came to the front to allow them to know that we've been sitting there for someone to laugh in our face. I wanted to like this restaurant in Bowie. I had lunch, the service was attentive and restaurant was clean. The food was nothing to boast about however. I had the enchiladas and ate it because I was hungry and needed sustenance. The food on the other hand was mediocre at best. I was just passing through, but expected better TexMex being that I was in Texas. The chicken was overcooked, dry, chewy, and bland. The 'queso' reminded me of Velveeta cheese with a couple of peppers thrown in. It's a shame the food was so bad because the staff was wonderful. I will never stop foot in either restaurant in Denton ever again. When I'm in town I will gladly come here and enjoy myself. I was certain this place must be tops because it seemed the parking lots were always packed. We stopped for a late lunch and I ordered street tacos after reading a review for them. I was highly disappointed in the street tacos. The meat was cubed and was not appealing by sight or smell. They were pretty plain-jane. We were staying nearby and hadn't planned on going out to dinner but a friend recommended this place. But we were very pleased to find that Bowie is a nice place, complete with a well occupied historic downtown complete with a diner, Italian restaurant, this Mexican restaurant, shops, and tonight, a Christmas Parade, Texas style of course. The place was a restaurant connected to a motel which is not longer there, but there is still the motel restaurant sign out front, which must remain, if you ask me. Looks great in the attached photo of the super moon. The restaurant was well kept on the on the front though clearly it dated to the early 60s. We walked into Spicy Mexico, and were seated immediately and brought chips and queso and salsa. As we read through the menu, the Parade crowd began to fill up the place and soon, it was full. We waited the perfect amount of time for our orders, not so quick as we didn't have time to talk for a bit, not so long as to wonder where our food was. This is my measure of well thought out service. My combo fajitas were just what i was hoping for, especially the steak. My wife's spinach quesadillas were really fresh. My niece and family came Sunday night for dinner and received appalling service. My 3 year old niece was ordering her own personal dinner of rice and beans and had a slight stutter when ordering. The waitress then MOCKED my niece back to her face making fun of her for her slight stutter. My niece then put her head down and leaned into my brother in law asking him to order for her because she was no longer confident enough to order on her own due to the bullying she received from the waitress. She was then uncomfortable the rest of the night and I am appalled by the lack of courtesy and respect given by this restaurant and waitress. There was no remorse only bullying and I am furious with this turn of events. There was never even a simple apology for this disgusting encounter. I encourage you to eat ANYWHERE else but here. Anyone who will make fun of a child (she is not even 3 years old yet) does not deserve yours or our business. If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. read more

We have eaten here several times but today will be our last trip. In the past we have thought the chips were way too salty but have come anyway. The chips again were very salty today but you can expect that from chips. The problem this time was the fajitas. We had the chicken and shrimp. It was so salty we could not eat it. They gave us a voided ticket in that amount and re charged us $47.40...they got that money too...now they say they don't have the money and will not refund. I really like their food. Not too salty. You might have to add a bit of salt if you're a person that likes to taste the salt. I just add the salsa, which I like to do anyway, and it's perfect. They have good tea. Good chips and salsa. Friendly people. Never been served bad food nor bad service. Good place. More authentic than Taco Bell or Chili's. But a bit more Tex-Mex than Mexico. And I like both. Some prefer Tex-Mex to total authentic. I think they give Dos Chili's a run for their money and I like to eat at all the places mentioned. ¡BUEN PROVECHO!
