honestly i don't come here often as i don't often go out to eat chinese food (we are chinese) but this is one of the few places i feel comfortable bringing my kids to. it feels clean, spacious yet cozy, and special enough for a special event (celebrating my brother being in town), yet not too delicate or fussy. the server was also super nice and accommodating of all our requests. my two year old enjoyed the salad so i was thrilled. and of course she liked the buns from our duck dish. she also was treated to pocky by the bartender at the end of dinner which she was extremely excited about. we all enjoyed the lychees in our kao yu. at the end i was asking my brother how many he ate because i only got two! the green beans, one of my husband's favorite dishes, were surprisingly better than i expected them to be. it was nice how so many of the dishes came with rice and soup or salad, so we had a fun variety of food for everyone. my parents appreciate the black rice option. we also got the fried sticky rice which was nostalgic for me. i feel like i don't ever crave the food here but i keep giving it high ratings because the overall experience is well-rounded and they are inclusive and welcoming towards my children. read more

The spicy orange chicken was delicious! I can handle a lot of spice so it wasn't too spicy to me, just enough to have a flavor of spice but I will definitely ask for extra spice next time. The Lin's know what they're doing. This is definitely fancier than Panda Express but not so fancy that you'd feel out of place if you went to dine-in in casual clothing. It's not fine dining. We're always greeted right away upon walking in. The entire staff is always very friendly, prompt, and attentive. I've dined here a few times, and have been to the bar just as many times, if not more. The drinks are yummmmmy! Not too strong, not too sweet... just right for my mixed drink needs. Drinks: the Mala Lychee Margarita is my favorite. I've also had the Mango Bomb, the Spicy Dang, the Haikoutini, and the Watermelon Green Tea Margarita before... All yummy! Food: All I need is the Szechuan Wontons with a side of steamed rice, maybe even two orders of the wontons... So good. I don't venture out into the menu much unless I have company willing to try new things. This last visit, we sat at the bar for a couple drinks and ordered the Wok It Calamari. I mean, if you like calamari, you'll like this... it's nothing special, average calamari but still a yummy snack... the little pieces of peppers were great to nibble on as well. We've ordered the Appetizer Trio before, the Honey Cashew Shrimp, and the Kung Pao Chicken. I'm sure there were others but I don't have pictures to help my recollection. All I know for sure is... I have not been let down by a dish (or drink) that I've had here. I don't crave Chinese food often... but when I do-- this is definitely one of my first choices. It's a yes from me. read more

This was my second time here and have been pretty happy with my experiences. The menu has a nice selection of items. From down to earth dishes to more traditional Chinese options. Something for everyone. Restaurant is clean and well organized. Some parties can get a little loud but otherwise service is on point and fast. A little pricey but these days what isn't. This spot has been recommended to me a few times. I was finally in the area and decided to pop in for lunch. The first thing I noticed is the massive outdoor patio overlooking a grassy courtyard area. This patio has TVs and heaters for those chilly fall and winter days. I sat inside and ordered the mixed veggie tofu off the lunch menu, but subbed chicken and opted for the chow mein. This order also comes with cream cheese ragoons and the salad. All of that for $12! The chow mein was very good and I really loved the sauce on the chicken and veggies. The veggies were surprisingly still firm, which I love because nobody likes a soggy broccoli crown. The portions here are so huge that my wife was able to create an entire lunch for herself with my leftovers. I will be back to try their roasted duck dinner special! read more

Before the door even closes behind you, you're greeted by the hostesses at the front and are either seated immediately or told to wait depending on how busy they are. The wait time was about an hour for my group of friends, but Spicy J's has a text feature where they notify you when your table is ready, so we were able to stop around while we waited for our table. They were able to easily accommodate 6 of us. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection, and was in large portions. 35 minute wait at Yard House for a late 10:00 post- movie dinner so figured we would head to Spicy J's, and got sat right down! i've only ever been during their 3-6 PM happy hour so i was excited to try out a late night bite. got the spicy orange chicken and the szechuan wontons, both were excellent. not TOO spicy on the orange chicken, but just enough for a small little kick. the wontons are just superb, a must every time we come. totally melt in your mouth deliciousness. we sadly not received our white rice order that comes with all entrees (they were workin' on closing, totally understandable). while the entrees are BIG, good for sharing, my girlfriend and i were very hungry and really regretted not getting the noodles. but craving more to me is more a compliment than complaint overall love this spot, the ambiance and theming inside is great and they have a really nice bar serving dark horse and crow & wolf root beer floats! didn't try this time, but sounded great. also little trick to deal with riverpark parking... i always park directly behind the theatre. plenty of spots and an easy exit. highly recommend spicy j's! read more

Service was super super slow. Yes she told us pork buns would take awhile( not even worth the wait) and they did 1/2 hr. Then it took another 1/2 hr for our meal to actually get here. I asked for a glass of water which she never brought. It was a wed at lunch it was just us and one more couple so they can't say it was busy. A couple came in after is and got their food before we did. More people came in after us but even then it wasn't busy. When we finally get our food it wasn't even warm. Don't waste your time or money at this dump.Won't ever come back to this over prices place. And your system being down has nothing to do with cold food: and having a photo shoot with someone else is no excuse. Maybe schedule it when you don't have other costumes. We went again to Spicy J's to try their weekday lunch specials. There's a large variety of dishes at reasonable prices. The portions are generous and include soup (hot and sour or egg drop) or salad, egg roll or cheese wontons, the entree with fried rice, rice or chow mein. I had the cashew chicken with fried rice and my dad had the black pepper beef. Food was decent although could have been a bit more salty and flavorful.
