Did delivery here and The food at Spicy Girl was so good, and paired with my beverage it was the perfect balance. This spot definitely feels like a treat. The menu is not overly expensive, but it is also not an everyday casual price point. It is the kind of place you go when you want to enjoy something special. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Portions were solid and felt very fair for the price, which I really appreciated. Everything tasted well prepared and satisfying. I was referred here by my best friend, and it absolutely did not disappoint. This is definitely a place I will be back to and would confidently recommend for the value, quality, and freshness of the food.

four words : salt and pepper fish ORDER THE SALT & PEPPER FISH!!! this dish speaks to my bay area california native spirit!!! this is one of my favorite meals to eat. its a go-to and a staple for me. i've also had the spicy girl fish, shrimp fried rice and garlic green beans. all amazing ! but i keep going back for the salt & pepper fish. i've dined in and ordered takeout, always amazing! when dining in, the staff are chill. this is a casual restaurant. one of the great things about it is, it's open extremely late, and the lateness does not compromise the integrity of the deliciousness. give it a try, and let me know what you think! bonne appétit

FOOD WAS SO GOOD I FORGOT TO TAKE MORE PICTURES. We just drove into houston for the thanksgiving break and a friend suggested spicy girl for dinner. there was free street parking all around the restaurant after 6pm so it was perfect timing. no wait for a table of 5 people but it was also a wednesday. we ordered mapo tofu, three pepper chicken, walnut shrimp, green beans, and fried fish. it was DELICIOUS and the perfect amount for us. we were stuffed. the server was also so so kind and kept checking in on us and refilling our waters. she would make quick conversation with us and made us feel like regulars. would definitely recommend!

Solid late night option for comforting Sichuan food, There's a decent variety of dishes on their menu from dim sum, breakfast to even Chinese street foods. (They even have peking duck here too!) and you order via a QR code at the table, and the food comes out pretty efficient. The atmosphere is decent for a late-night spot... We came in late on a Friday, around 11pm, and there was still a lot going on.. There were staff organizing and some even making zongzi (粽子) while we were there. Lots of walk-in traffic and nonstop to-go orders. We sat at a booth, and I was able to briefly chat with one of the ladies *owner/manager in Mandarin and she was really friendly. Food-wise, it's good enough for this area. I'm not comparing it to Chinatown spots, but it still hits. The mapo tofu wasn't as intense as places like Mala Sichuan, and the dan dan noodles weren't as authentic as some others I've had, but everything was still flavorful.. The three pepper chicken dish was the standout at our table. Overall, good service and you really can't beat this kind of food at that hour. They're open until 330am on weekends, which is kind of wild, but makes sense once you see the late-night crowd. Parking can be tight in the lot, but there's a garage nearby and street parking if you can find it.

As with most places, there are pros and cons. I just happen to be a big fan of good beef noodle soups all around, but I'll get to that in a bit. First off, this is an establishment that has perfect placement and planning for late night eats, being around the midtown area. Ever felt hungry after a night at the bars? I think everybody has. This place is perfect walking distance. And that's great, because the parking situation is lacking. If ever thinking of driving there, expect to try to find street parking somewhere, pray that it's close by, and then walk on over. But yes, the atmosphere is nice and welcoming! Service is solid - you can tell people are really trying here. Good decor. They even have an area with Spicy Girl swag! Considering the location of this being around Midtown as opposed to Bellaire, when you're walking in, you'll notice this isn't exactly a place where the natives go. It's a very diverse crowd. That said, the food is solid overall! I did a massive takeout order from here as I was hosting friends. Tried a variety of dishes. It was a success! I'd say the "Fish Jump Out of Water" dish impressed me quite a bit with how tender the fish was. I'm a bit curious how different this dish is compared to their water-boiled fish. Also - as I was waiting for my food, I noticed many tables ordered the 3-flavor pepper chicken. The presentation of that dish is pretty incredible. I myself ordered the 3-flavor pepper intestine (I'm a fan of intestines prepared correctly). This dish was solid! Same with the eggplant, beef, chicken, and pork dishes I ordered. All tasty. But we go back to the beef noodle soup. Because when I see on the menu, "Taiwan Beef Noodle Soup," my eyes light up. See, I LOVE Taiwan beef noodle soup. So a day earlier, while dining in, my instincts told me I had to try their Taiwan beef noodle soup. Dining in for a dish like this is the only way to go. Unfortunately, this dish was a bit lacking. Sure, the taste was fine. The broth is good. The noodles taste fine, but they also taste like they were the stick noodles bought from the Chinese supermarket, which is fine because that's what I do for my own cooking and it still tastes good, it's just it's not as good as some other establishments with high-quality beef noodle soup. Also, the beef is more chewy than tender, and almost could be described as more tough than chewy. However, I can see how on a drunk night after the bars, this could still be a hit! It's just not the dish that I would recommend for the ultimate Spicy Girl experience. One more thing: when I tried to order online for takeout to try to save time, the payment system wasn't working and I had to drive there, order takeout on site, and just hang out there and wait. I could tell the workers were hustling hard to get me the food quickly, which they did, bravo. But that's an added obstacle of slight inconvenience to the experience. So overall, not a bad place to go. In fact, a pretty brilliant place to walk to after the bars. But also, there are dishes to go for more than others. And combined with the inconveniences such as parking and online payment not working, that's why I have it rated as slightly above average, but perhaps not elite in a crowd of strong Houston restaurants.

Late night cravings? This place has some great Chinese cuisine that they do take out style in restaurant after normal dining hours. They have lots of self seating and their menu is available on the QR code at the table. Ordering is made very simple, you order through their QR code and the food is brought out when it's ready. However, if you are planning to split bills or checks, you'll need to order separately. The food came out hot and fresh, and it was good quality for late night kitchen service. The portions are decent and filling we came as a group of four and each of us ordered an entrée and some starters like the eggrolls and we were definitely satisfied at the end of our meal. The drinks are nothing special but they do quench the cravings. There is no real service after hours, but the staff is fairly and hopeful, fair warning, there is no water service either and they only do bottled water for charge. The restaurant itself has a great chill vibe, but it can be noisy, but that's to be expected.

Hot spicy pork dumplings and 3 flavor pepper chicken

Late night cravings came down to this spot with my group. There was a late night menu that was to-go style and quick. The place was nicely lit and the people working there were friendly as well. We started off with the hot spicy pork dumplings. These were soo delicious. I was just slurping these away. The sauce was great. For the main meal we got the Taiwanese beef noodle soup and the 3 flavor pepper chicken. Both were great and flavorful.

Divine. Maybe because I was starving. Maybe it was the wonderful company. Maybe it was the mushrooms. Everything was delicious. It has been a while since I've been here and thank God I came. The chow fun was superb, honey ginger tea delivered with the most lovely tea set, mushrooms out of this world, and service attentive as can be. Ms. Kim was the server for a fully packed restaurant and still was bringing it. I will come back!

Spicy girls is a very convenient place to go to if you have the midnight munchies. Beware, parking is fairly limited. Plan accordingly. There's a modest seeing Arrangement inside. This is a very self-serve oriented experience. There are no waters served on site. You'll have to order from the QR code, particularly at late night hours after 9:00 p.m. Food is generally well prepared and meet fast food expectations. I would almost want to compare the flavor profile similarly to Panda Express. Not to say that this is bad by any means. Just dependable, reliable, and predictable. If simplicity and predictability is what you're going for, then this is the place. Mongolian beef was well prepared and juicy. I just wish there was a little more beef. But I still enjoyed the dining experience for what it was. Thai tea was a little bit more on the bland side but it's all right.

3 flavor pepper chicken was nice and crisp. Spicy boiled beef was incredibly flavorful. Portions were sizable. Quick and professional service. Inside was nice. Nothing fancy but a good atmosphere.

Beef chow foon

I would give 5 stars for the following dishes: Fish with tofu in spicy sauce Spicy crispy chicken Unfortunately, the beef chow foon was lacking in both flavor and wok hei (smokiness), and the xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) were also mid (no flavor in the soup). So I think this place can be really good if you get the right dishes, but lacks consistency.

Very small place when you get inside, so be prepared to maybe not sit or wait for a table. They have a pretty large menu which is good. We got everything to go since there were no seats..we ordered the Dan Dan noodles, amazing spicy fish, 3 pepper shrimp and spicy edamame. We should have checked the order for accuracy because we live an hour away. Got home and we received spicy chicken NOT fish. I'm a pescatarian so this was very disappointing for me! The other dishes were good but the edamame was lacking. Super pissed about the fish.

Mapo tofu genuinely one of my favorite dishes of all time, and I can say without a shadow or a doubt this is the worst mapo tofu I've ever had. It feels wrong even calling it mapo tofu to be honest, it lacked any peppercorn, was not spicy in the slightest, and had the consistency of soup compared to the more viscous consistency I've come to expect from my mapo tofu. I would have a bit more leniency if it had good taste at the very least, but while it wasn't unedible it was mediocre at best and I found myself putting siracha to get through the last half of my plate. Seeing such a poor representation of one of my all time favorite dishes brings me great sadness, as it might dissuade someone from ordering it at a place that does it properly and may even scare people off tofu dishes in general.

Do we need reservations for weekend lunch?

Do they serve dry pot here? (xiang guo or gan guo)

They have hot pot but not dry pot.

Any gluten free options?

Yes, please let the server know if you are requesting gluten free.

What is and isn't vegetarian? They use eggs in "vegan" dishes, so I'm worried they also use oyster sauce and shrimp paste. I am trying to figure out what I can order.

If you're not sure, stop thinking around it and just eat a salad

Still only "family style" meals, no options for individuals? Note, individual means no one to share…

They have individual meals, just not combo meals.

No parking validation?

I didn't see any pay parking- there are spots right in front and on the side- and street parking around as well.

Are there non spicy dishes that are good for kids?

Yes, we do have non-spicy dishes. Some of the dish can customize your dish with less spicy or non-spicy, please let the server know.

Does Spicy Girl offer BYOB?

No byob here, they have a full bar.

Why no lunch menu? Lots of Chinese places only sell "family style" but in the business lunch world,…

I think they are still in soft opening phase and menu isn't fleshed out yet.

Any vegetarian options?

I know the edamame and cucumber salad are vegetarian appetizers, otherwise they have sauteed mixed vegetables, sauteed cabbage, and other vegetarian options under their Vegetables section on their menu.

On my most recent visit we ordered mapo tofu with pork intestines off the specials menu - a hybrid of two of my favorite Sichuan-style dishes. The blend of bouncy, savory morsels amidst tender, saucy tofu was at once revolutionary and so obvious; why hadn't I yet seen this at any other restaurant? And sure, innards may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's important for you to know that none of my past orders from the 50+ item menu have ever failed me, whether enjoyed in the restaurant or at home. Maybe you'd prefer the aromatic, classic, perfectly balanced three-cup chicken? Or the sweet-skinned duck, glazed so delicately that specks of sugar crystal threaten to jump off onto the plate as you pick up a juicy slice with your chopsticks? And if you're vegetarian, might you consider the punchy garlic eggplant or the wok-kissed string beans? I could go on. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself, though I'd recommend parallel parking on the neighborhood streets behind the restaurant rather than the rocky parking lot, to save you some trouble. Bring friends and chow down family style - you'll need help covering as much of the menu as you can, but you'll definitely have to come back to try everything.

I think we may have went on an off day because I have tried takeout form this place that was delicious, but on this day the food wasn't my favorite. We did overall enjoyed our experience and time and I would recommend giving this place a try! We ordered a total of 5 dishes and everything seemed very authentic to Sichuan cooking. With Sichuan cuisine though, a lot of the food will be on the oily side, so keep that in mind. - Eggplant In Spicy Sauce (5/5): Definitely order this dish! You can tell the eggplant was prepared well because it retained its beautiful purple color and luscious shape. The flavor was sweet and savory seeped well into the eggplant. My only comment would be that there wasn't a strong garlic flavor, but it was still so tasty I think it deserved that 5/5! - Mapo Tofu (2.5/5): I came here specifically for the mapo tofu but was left a bit disappointed. The flavor was pretty good and had that strong Sichuan pepper spice that lingers after a while. My issue with the tofu was the consistency of the sauce. I found it to be very thick and clumpy in an unpleasant way, almost like eating little gelatin pieces. I would probably come back to try it again just in case this was a bad batch, but it's hard to compete with wanna boa's mapo tofu. - Spicy and Crispy Chicken (4/5): Pretty juicy and crispy chicken with a slight kick. I love anything fried chicken so I did enjoy this dish but it was pretty standard and there wasn't much to write about. - Red Oil Dumplings (3/5): Pretty standard oil dumplings. They weren't really spicy which would be good for people who can't handle spice. I think I would've liked a bit more meat filling but overall not bad. - Dan Dan Noodles (3/5): I loved the texture of the noodles but I found the sauce to be kinda slippery which made it hard adhere to the noodles. I also thought the flavor could've been a bit stronger. Service/Ambiance: the interior of this place was super cute, especially the upstairs area. I loved the dim lighting and tiny table lamps which gave this place a cozy romantic feeling. The outside was also interesting with an all black exterior and no sign. That might make it hard to notice or find the restaurant, but that did give it a more hidden feeling which was nice. Parking was also abundant and service was great!
