Very talented kind and comforting. She was able to explain to me in a simple way why the need to brush twice a day and floss is not optional and what exactly it does. I always thought it was recommended but the way she explained it caused it to click for me And not be hit or miss. I always thought I HAD to brush after I ate breakfast which would cause me to forget or go without and only brush at the end of the day. Since listening to her i have been brushing first thing when i wake up. i have noticed less gum sensitivity, cleaner mouth, better breath and whiter teeth. She was also very thorough in cleaning me teeth and honest about what procedures I needed and what I could try at home first and she would see if it worked before paying for the more extensive options.

I was alarmed that this office wouldn't even do a cleaning because of this "gum disease" and referred me to a periodontist for a deep cleaning and scaling. The periodontist, Dr. Yeoung, said I not only needed a deep cleaning, but also bone grafting and possibly implants. Alarm bells went off in my head because I have been so diligent with my dental hygiene for years and never even have had any bleeding during a cleaning. Also, it was going to be thousands of dollars that I didn't have. (Delta Dental would pay $1,000). I was freaked out and called my Ojai dentist and made the drive for advice. My trusted hygienist told me there was NOTHING WRONG WITH MY GUMS. These two dentists are upselling procedures and obviously are working together to swindle vulnerable patients, (which is easy to do since we can't see very well inside our own mouths and trust them for their expertise). My experience was the worst! I will be driving back to my previous dentist in Ojai for dental work!

The weeks leading up to it were filled with nothing but friends and family alike telling me they were sorry I needed it as it's a horrible procedure but that I'd be happy to have it done after the fact. I felt my heart in my stomach when the day/hour finally arrived. I got to the office and was greeted by the friendly staff. The girls are so sweet and check you in quickly. Staff in the back office are just as sweet and understanding of any irrational fears (as my own lol). I knew I wasn't seeing the same dentist as I had previously so that added to the nerves. The two girls responsible for me that day did a great job of keeping me calm and walking me through the whole process. The doctor came in and introduced himself. He also made sure to acknowledge my feelings and walked me through the whole procedure while making sure I was never uncomfortable. Dr. Michael Ortega has a magical hand. Not once did I feel any pain at all. Not when he injected the anesthesia, nor during the actual root canal nor thereafter. I was so appreciative of him and the tech who molded my crown that same day so I wouldn't have to come back. Her color matching skills are impeccable! Now you can't even tell I have a crown. I went home that day feeling like a million bucks and no longer fear the dentist. Thank you Lancaster Modern for the amazing job you do at taking care of your patients.

His quote was roughly $5,000 to fix it. Dr Stein had never recommended that, even from previous x-rays. Beware please, his go-to seems to be $5,000, or multiples of $5,000, even if not necessarily needed. He doesn't seem to care about anything but money, and I think he'll scare you into doing it.

Two times now I've gone in for my appointment and was seen an hour to an hour and a half PAST my appointment time- resulting in services that I need to get done them not having time for. Now I have to go back for a third visit just to get done the original tooth that I came in for in April. A woman was there about 15 minutes after I got there sometime before 10 AM. She had a doctor appointment at noon somewhere else and after an hour of waiting for her appointment which was at 10:30. She asked if she should reschedule because she wouldn't make her second appointment. I'm not sure who is in charge of the scheduling, but they need to be let go. Over booking an understaffed office is not helping your team or your patient care. The amount of time collectively I've spent waiting in that office I could've driven to my old dentist in Orange County. Got the work done and came back home I understand your time is valuable, but so is the time of the patients who take off work, arranged, childcare, or schedule other appointments in their day. An hour to 2 hours to be seen as crazy work- only to be told " there's not enough time to do the thing you came in here for we're gonna have to reschedule you"

She was so patient with him too. Love this place!
