TLDR; Got taken advantage of by this office.
I was initially very pleased with how Dr. Marconnette and team were handling my dental stuff. I had just recently gotten dental insurance and thought that everything would be taken care of without hassle. I was really excited to finally start getting my biannual cleanings, and wanted to try teeth whitening.
This would take a turn for the worst though. The dentist at this office and team, repeatedly told me that I needed crowns put on my front teeth, because a piece had chipped off from the reconstruction that my old dentist had done. I was told this 3 times every day I came into the office for the first few months, that this would be covered 50% by insurance and not to worry. Okay cool. It wasn't bugging me, but if insurance is going to pay over half of it, okay.
12 months later, in Feb 2021, we put the crowns in. They look great, and I pay my ~700$ expecting that insurance will cover the rest, since this is what I was told at Dr Marconnette's office.
I received 3 notices throughout the year, saying something like "2000$" for dental services owed. "Whatever" I think, must be just some bill saying that this office has received the payout for the insurance claim.
Well, that October, I receive another, the fourth, one of these letters. This time though, I feel like something is up. I call my dental insurance company and they verify that the doctor's office has just been resubmitting the claim the insurance but I am told -repeatedly- that my insurance in no way covers crowns.
I call Dr. Marconette's office and am told that the receptionist has tried to file the insurance claim 4 different times. I am thinking, "why did they not call, why am I just now finding out about this in October? How many times were they going to resubmit this before calling me?" Okay whatever, how can we fix this? I am told that I will have to fork over the other ~700$
for the other crown.
After the call I am pretty upset. A lot of thoughts are rushing through my mind. They said multiple times that insurance would cover it! I think about calling a lawyer but that would just cost me more money. I think about taking the office to small claims court, but I don't have the time or resources for that, and what evidence do I have that they told me it was going to be covered 50%? None. What if I just don't pay it? Well, if I don't, the office will probably just send it to collections and ruin my credit. I drive up today 11/1/2021 and pay my 700 so that I can just leave this headache in the past. They don't even apologize. I don't even get a sorry, that's the worst part about all this.
So, I guess that the lesson here is to double check on your own, with your insurance. Make sure that they are going to cover the procedure.
*My review was taken down, IDK how they did that but I still, 2 years later remember this terrible interaction. read more
