My daughter went in for a filling that was covered at 100% by our dental insurance. During the procedure, Dr. Kim told her that her nerve was exposed and that if she developed pain, she would need to return for a root canal. After the visit, we received a large bill because the office billed our insurance using a procedure code that was not covered. At no point was my daughter informed that this service was not covered or that she could be responsible for the cost. I contacted the office because I believed this was handled improperly. Based on my experience working in dental billing, the procedure could have been billed using an alternative code, such as an open-and-medicate procedure, which was covered under her insurance plan. Instead, the office chose to bill a non-covered code, resulting in an unnecessary financial burden. Rather than discussing my concerns professionally, Dr. Kim became argumentative and dismissed my explanation, referring to it as my "propaganda. My concern is that my daughter was billed for non-covered procedures without being properly informed beforehand, despite covered alternatives being available in certain situations. I work in dental billing and understand insurance coding and reimbursement practices. It was clear that Dr. Kim was not receptive to the fact that I was knowledgeable about the billing process. My complaint is not only about the unexpected bill but also about the lack of transparency, failure to obtain informed financial consent, and the unprofessional way my concerns were addressed. read more

I went to see Dr Kim for a cleaning. I was surprised he cleaned the teeth himself. I told him I had radiation treatments and he said he had experience with teeth like that. He wanted to make me a new partial and I told him my partial was fine. He wanted to put in a bridge instead. I told him no thanks. He did not listen and kept trying to sell me a bridge. He then proceeded to try to sell me other dental repairs, and it became clear that he had not worked with radiated teeth at all by his ignorant suggestions. When I asked if we could start with the cleaning I came for, he left the office and did not answer the question. The assistant showed me out of the office without explaining and I was left waiting in the front office to pay as I said I would on the way in. After 10 minutes waiting, I went on to another appointment. He then sent me a bill for more money than I had agreed to pay. I told my story to a friend, and they said they had a similar experience there and they would never return. I will not return either he is a salesman and more than a dentist. read more

First time to the dentist in some time due to poor experiences over the years. Had a wonderful experience communicating with staff over the phone both in making & confirming our families appointments. Staff greeted us by name upon walking in for the first time today and had never met us which was refreshing and unexpected. Dr Kim was excellent today! He was super communicative, professional, friendly and made us feel comfortable through every step of what can be scary for most. Both myself and my 13 year old daughter got cavities filled and cleanings. The level of care was exceptional. It's been years since I've been to an even decent dentist in the AV and I'm so glad his Google reviews were excellent and that we had such a wonderful experience. My daughter has always had massive anxiety at the dentist and today with the support and encouragement from staff and DR Kim, she crushed it and handled it like a pro! I have been going to to this Dentist office since my children were in Elementary School. They are now college students living on campus. I kindly called to ask about a bill received Priscilla hung up in my face twice. Told me I was "yelling" mind you I'm at work myself impossible to yell. I've been going to this practice for several years. I didn't have an issue with the Dr. until one day, he was treating me and asked if I wanted to exchange my old silver fillings that I had for over 30 years for some that were more cosmeticly appealing. I asked what was the advantage of doing that, considering I had no issues with my old fillings. He said, "Your mouth is already numb, so now would be a good time if you want to do it." I agreed, trusting that he was the medical Dr. He wouldn't suggest something that would compromise my teeth. Well, after I agreed, I didn't know I would have tooth pain on my molar from that day forward. After I went back to him several times for him to try to rectify the problem, he kept filing down or trying to level that one molar out. Without success, he recommended me to another dentist. That dentist smoothed my molar out, and I haven't had any problems since. I had a full set of recent xrays, cleanings, etc, prior to this with no dental issues before Dr. removed my old fillings. The moral of the story is Dr. compromised my good healthy teeth and removed silver fillings I had for over 30 years in exchange for new fillings that required that more of my actual tooth be removed to remove the silver filling in exchange for fillings that would blend with my natural teeth. Why would a Dr try to fix something that wasn't broken? Was it to benefit me, or was it for financial gain?? Had I known to remove the old filing would require partial removal of good healthy teeth, I would Of said NO! Not to mention that my family member and I have also experienced some inappropriate behavior by one of the staff members here on separate occasions. I will never come back to this practice because of that. I do like the Dr. and the practice minus one employee. This is a friendly practice. I just don't want to put my health in the hands of someone I have to worry about if they're making suggestions to me and my family member for our health or financial gain. Patients beware of this office and their practices. I went in to have only two crowns replaced because they were a decade old. I had zero pain prior to visiting this office. After having Dr. West fill two of my molars, I ended up having excruciating pain and an out of pocket expense of over $3,000 for 2 root canals (at another dental office because I refused to have anymore dental work done at this office). 10 West Dental did a few fillings in addition to my crown replacements. Dr. Kim repeatedly denied he and Dr. West did anything wrong and continued to harass me for almost a year (texting me on my personal cell phone, amongst other things - screen shots attached). He continued to request I go to his office to view photos of other patients' mouths and x-rays to try to prove he did nothing wrong. Again, I had zero pain prior to visit for my crown replacements. He also at one point accused the other reviewer by the name "Bri" of being my family??? Or someone I must know! Because, of the similar review. Don't you think that the same thing probably happened more than once? I am a 40 year old woman. He continued to claim I was treating him poorly and he asked to speak to and through my parents to me about the situation (my parents don't go to his office and they have no affiliation with this office). I have proof of all of our exchanges. Not once did I disrespect him. I have been highly professional and logical throughout every exchange. I have voicemails saved from when he left me back to back messages at night (8-9pm and sometimes 10pm)! I have emails saved also. I can continue to go on with the story but please be aware that you are not in good hands. This office wants to deplete your insurance and Dr. Kim will harass you if you post a bad review. He offered me a free crown to take down my review. But, after the horrible experience and harassment by him, I did not feel comfortable going back to the office. I didn't even feel comfortable calling because every time I called, and I specifically asked NOT to speak to Dr. Kim, suddenly he would be on the phone! I am 65 years old and by far, this is the best dentist I have ever been to in my entire life and trust me. I take great care of my dental health , and that's why this was my very first extraction. I absolutely love the way he explains everything. I really felt comfortable. Dr. William Kim is an outstanding dentist. He gives thoughtful diagnoses and thorough treatment explanations. I had previously brought my father to see Dr. Kim. He saved my father's tooth that a previous rude and aggressive dentist was pushing to do a root canal and crown. For myself, I saw Dr. Kim for a second opinion on a problematic crown done by a different dentist. He reshaped the crown to align with the neighboring molars to fix a bite that had been troubling me for over a year. Whew! In addition, Dr. Kim proactively repaired a neighboring tooth filling that was shearing off and exposing a sharp edge. He also pointed out some other issues that were not urgent, but I should watch out for in the future. He even taught me how to floss properly. I highly recommend Dr. Kim.
