I try to go to this local spice shop as much as I can. The owner is very nice. They have a HUGE variety of olive oils and balsamic vinaigrettes and I think that's what keeps me going there. My favorite olive oil so far is the jalapeño infused one and my favorite vinaigrette is the mango flavored one. They have a large variety of extracts as well which I'd like to dig into. I also bought a wonderful mortar and pestle that works so well. It's number one in my kitchen now. Their bar soaps... also wonderful. Came in handy when I was going out to travel! This place was dreamy. I was visiting on vacation and blown away. I love to study herbs and what they can do for you. I also went through a tea phase when I was younger where I liked to try rare loose leaf teas. This store had almost every type of loose leaf tea or herb that you could think of. Usually, these are impossible to find without ordering online. In my previous town, we had a cool herb shop, but it was a little more quirky of an atmosphere. In my current town, we have a coffee shop with a little selection. But overall, I was really jealous of Ventura having such a thorough selection in such a clean and professional environment. read more

Originally I went here to pickup boxes for our Toys For Tots event. Audrey was so warm, engaging and professional I stayed a bit, learned about the store and bought some items. Wow what a wonderful person. I thought she was the owner. Almost everything there is from local suppliers including art work and ceramics. Their selection is amazing. And I really like that you can purchase small amounts rather than a big jar at the supermarket (which will go stale before you use it all). This place is really amazing! We were visiting from LA and was walking around and Suzanne and another woman (I am sorry I didn't catch her name) were helping us. I said I had some female issues I wanted to try and calm down with teas. They helped me SO much! I love supporting small businesses and I don't need to just do it on a Saturday as AMEX commercials tells us. I do this every day. Even with groceries. Very nice staff and SUPER helpful. Huge selections of teas and spices. We even picked up some espresso flavored sugars so I can add them to baking. They gave us some free samples! Hooray! I finally found file ("fee-lay," also known as ground sassafrass) powder to make my authentic New orleans gumbo. This store carries every spice I could ever imagine, and then some! I apparently have a lot of learning to do regarding unique culinary spices. The staff here was uber friendly and informative, as I had a lot of questions. I will definitely be back! Spice-topia is awesome! I stopped in looking for sumac. They don't have it yet because they can't find an organic supplier (ok reason by me!). After trying a free crepe made in the back with one of their infused sugars (awesome), I decided to ask the guy at the front counter about the spice blend they said had sumac in it. Turns out he was the owner, Ed, and he was so friendly, helpful and knowledgable. He showed me the berbere blend that has sumac in it, we smelled and talked about a bunch of others, and then I discovered the infused salts. He said the white truffle infused salt is great on popcorn. I got that and the aged balsamic infused salt and have enjoyed them both on popcorn twice now. It is so good!!! The place was a utopia of smells and spices to make life more delicious! Oh and I bought fenugreek seeds because I had heard they were good for you (relieve headaches, and it works!), then I realized after I paid that I didn't have a tea strainer to make tea with. He gave me one for free :) This place is awesome, go check it out! read more

Such an amazing spice store. I live in LA and actually drive up to Ventura every few months for their gourmet white truffle salt. I can't live without it anymore... I have been into spices since before I can really remember. My mom would put organic non-GMO locally grown cinnamon in my baby bottle (BPA free)-decades ago before it was trending to do so. Not to throw shade at this apparent pop up of a spice shop man but let's just say I've tasted better spices. I'm going to continue taking my business elsewhere for my spice needs. What a great find! We had friends from Australia that wanted us to send them some spices and sauces from America so we stumbled upon this amazing shop online and stopped by. The store is beautifully arranged, very user friendly and appealing to walk through. We were immediately greeted and asked if we needed help. From there we had our own personal shopper with us the whole time giving us samples and telling us about all the various lines they carried.
