Immediately upon entering, it's easy to get excited and inspired by the variety of salts, spices, and honeys. The staff are very friendly and can order just about anything you want, if it's not on the shelf. It's really satisfying shopping from a local small business, as well. Try the habanero sugar! Such a cute store! I wish I lived closer because I would be here all the time. It's a pretty roomy shop that sells teas, spices, other cute little accessories, cooking stuff, jams, etc. They also seem to have cooking classes too and I think you can also buy cups of tea from them as well. They had a pretty large selection of spices and teas and had little jars where you could smell what you're going to be buying. Their tea runs about 6 bucks for an ounce which I thought was pretty standard for loose leaf tea places. Great place if you're looking for gifts for the holidays. Very nice people that work there as well. Oh and they have an area where you can sample some of their nut butters, mustards, jams, etc read more

Such a cute little mom and pop shop located in downtown Ventura. Had a lot of spices to offered from different types of salt and sugar to pepper and herbs. Very creative. We ended up buying a bag of habanero salt, lemon salt, and vanilla bean sugar. We tried the habanero salt with some soy sauce as a potsticker dip at home and it was fantastic. I mean to try the lemon salt with maybe some fruits like watermelon or cantaloupe and the vanilla bean sugar to add to my coffee. Enjoyed browsing the store but price were a bit high. One small bag of spice will cost you about $2-3. Not sure how long it will last us either but overall, worth a visit since the shop is so unique. read more

Awesome little shop if you love to cook, or love someone who does. :) I came in for one spice, and walked out with two shopping bags. I got some really awesome looking teas for my mama, some local YUUUUMMMY looking salsa for my husband, and a bunch of spices to get him more interested in cooking me some fancy chicken! :) lol, let's see if it works. Cute little curation of home goods and gifts. She sources a ton of local in here, which I love. Think beautiful hand-carved wooden cutting boards, tea drinker gifts, specialty jams and olive oils. Awesome spice boutique! I spotted this store as I perused through the unique mom&pop stores in downtown Ventura. I love that this store carried every spice imaginable - both in seed and (some in) powder form. You can purchase the spices by ounce and they are pretty inexpensive. They also carried a wide array of teas, which I love. In the back of the store is Rob (the owner), a microwave, and his handy dandy TopChips Kit. Rob demonstrated making potato (or any other fruit) chips sans oil. He flavored the chips with the different salts and spices the store carried. I just couldn't walk away without purchasing one. I should have purchased more for my friends & family. Ha! read more

Unique little store on Main Street in Ventura with a nifty selection of infused salts and spices, including some exotic kinds like black lava salt. They also had cool nut butters and they let me sample the coconut walnut butter before I bought it. So yummy. They also had a man with his coffee products for sale and a woman selling Indian chutneys and giving samples. The store has a cute display for all the spices, and they also have some cute tchotchke gifts if you're looking for something like that. A must stop for anybody looking for something different for their cooking. I'll be back the next time I visit Ventura. read more

Spice-topia is one of the most accurately named businesses I've come across. Simply put, it's spice Utopia. A few years back I stumbled upon it and bought some great sugars, and I've been a few times since. I'm definitely going to stop by more often. They have a large selection of infused salts, infused sugars, and loads of different spices, herbs, and rubs. A lot of then are interesting ones you wouldn't find in a regular store, or are harder to find, like nigella seed or porcini mushroom salt. They also have a very large selection of loose leaf teas, and fun tea related paraphernalia. The employees are always great. I wish I'd gotten the name of the girl who was there today, she was fabulous. She helped me put together a great gift set of spices. Honestly this place is one place I can't find any flaws with. Stopped by here randomly as we were walking down main street. We were immediately entranced by all the crazy unique spices, rubs, and dips. There were too many to count, and all ones I had never seen before. We ended up getting a bag of Habanero infused sugar. We then went to the back and looked at the hot sauces. The man working there was awesome! He showed us all the hot sauces they had, gave us his personal opinion, and some background on the company (a lot of them were local). We got to try every single one! We ended up buying two bottles because they were so good. I would come back to main street for this store alone. YELP CHALLENGE 2015 1/100! I only gave 4 stars because I had very limited interaction, but it's definitely a place that I will visit again. I was browsing the main street in Ventura while waiting to go to an appointment in Santa Barbara. Faye was very nice and helpful and offered me the option to taste anything that I was interested in. I didn't do any tasting, but I did purchase a cup of tea. I think it was the mango (something something), but it was very nice, even though it wasn't sweetened (she didn't offer and I didn't ask). I'm a fan of how nice it smells in there - all those spices and everything smell so good. I aspire to have such a collection in my own kitchen. read more

This little spice shop is absolutely amazing! I have never seen so many amazing spices all in one location, not to mention the fact that they also have loads of different kinds of exotic teas! If you want medicinal teas they have them as well as all kinds of fresh herbs and spices. They also have things that you could consider as gifts or gift items for family or friends. This would be a great place to get that quirky kitchen gift for that quirky friend who loves all items kitchen related! They have some cool jams and jellies and other yummy food items, as well as a sampling station where you can sample some of their ice teas that they create they have little cups and you can go back and get more, I really love this place! I was so impressed I even loved all of their little jars and all the little artistic pieces they sell. We picked up some delicious green tea, loose-leaf you will need an infuser and they even sell infuser's there. I'm very happy I walked into this little shop with the walls that hold layers and layers of jars, both tiny jars and large jars of so many things! Sadly, I didn't get a chance to buy everything I wanted, as our movie was about to start, so I'm going to have to go back again and I do not mind that at all this is the perfect place for a tea connoisseur or a spice connoisseur who wants to find something special to take home. read more

Spicetopia is a gem in downtown Ventura! Its our main stop to restock on organic teas and spices. Everything is so fresh and aromatic. They had several local products including Shark Tanks Henry's Humdingers Honey. The spiced honey flavors are available for tasting and will definitely tempt to you to purchase all the flavors! They brew fresh iced and hot tea as well. My next stop is to attend one of their cooking demonstration classes. Can't wait! read more

I got a tea sampler and then I fell in love with their Earl Grey tea, which I usually do not like, but this is perfect. I went in to get more tea and as I was talking to the Tea Sommelier he gave me a sample of the 'Russian Caravan' blend and holy cats I found Tea nirvana. This shop across Main Street from the theater is small and easy to miss, but it's really worth a visit. It has a lot of unusual gourmet specialties, especially spices and teas. It's pretty inside and open enough to not feel crowded. Plus the salespeople let you alone to browse, and they know their products well and can give detailed information when you ask. We picked up some za'atar (a mixture of African spices) and some Alderwood Smoked Salt. For our dog, we got some peanut butter & tumeric antioxidant treats, which she loves. This place was dreamy. I was visiting on vacation and blown away. I love to study herbs and what they can do for you. I also went through a tea phase when I was younger where I liked to try rare loose leaf teas. This store had almost every type of loose leaf tea or herb that you could think of. Usually, these are impossible to find without ordering online. In my previous town, we had a cool herb shop, but it was a little more quirky of an atmosphere. In my current town, we have a coffee shop with a little selection. But overall, I was really jealous of Ventura having such a thorough selection in such a clean and professional environment. read more

I try to go to this local spice shop as much as I can. The owner is very nice. They have a HUGE variety of olive oils and balsamic vinaigrettes and I think that's what keeps me going there. My favorite olive oil so far is the jalapeño infused one and my favorite vinaigrette is the mango flavored one. They have a large variety of extracts as well which I'd like to dig into. I also bought a wonderful mortar and pestle that works so well. It's number one in my kitchen now. Their bar soaps... also wonderful. Came in handy when I was going out to travel!
