Lamb kati roll, masala fries, Aloo Tikki Chaat
Louise F.

Came here while helping some friends move - and even with all the manual labor, 1 roll was enough to fill me up (and some masala fries, and an aloo tikka chaat). When i took a bite of the masala fries, i thought to myself "ohhh, this is what masala fries are supposed to taste like." Because I've had masala fries, but none nearly as good as this. The lamb kati roll I had was also realllly good. Super drippy and really difficult to keep clean, but really really good.

A good bite! Prices are so reasonable. Mango lassi is good and only $4! I would come back. Fast service and casual setting.

Spice Waala offers tasty and affordable Indian street food. I also love their mission of supporting the community! I got the chicken tikka roll and aloo tikka chaat -- both were incredibly flavorful, especially the aloo tikka chaat with the potato underneath all the fixings *chefs kiss* Ambiance is pretty casual and it is nice place to just eat and catch up with friends. Service is quick even if it's busy and the workers are helpful if you have any questions. Only downside is there is limited seating and parking in the area if you come during a busy time.

Ordered delivery. It's way too heavy for my personal liking. The filling was a good portion of protein. I did like the wrap

I went here for a fairly casual lunch as food comes fast and is very affordable. A kathi roll is $8-8.50, and the snacks are $5.50 each and are fairly sizable. The recommendation is to order 2 rolls or 1 roll and 1 snack for a hungry adult, but I ignored the recommendation and ordered 2 rolls (chicken with egg, and lamb) + 1 snack (aloo tikki chaat) and a mango lassi, all for myself. I was really stuffed at the end, but that was also because this is my only meal I would eat today based on my personal logistics. The chicken tikka kathi roll is really nicely grilled, fairly tender, and the egg soaks up a lot of the chicken tikka flavor so I recommend adding an egg to just one of the rolls. The $1.50 surcharge is okay, but trying it for one roll is more than sufficient. The lamb kebab tikka roll is also good, with a good amount of green chutney that brings forth a slightly sweet flavor. The aloo tikki chaat has a potato patty with yogurt, tamarind, and some crisps, which is a great starter but I enjoyed eating it throughout the meal. It helps cool down with the spice, although the food is not too spicy. The mango lassi is on the thicker side, but can't really complain for $4. It also helps cool down with the spice, and a meal is not really complete without. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and its relatively fast casual format. If I want an affordable and quick meal, I would come back again.

Spice Waala is one of my favorite places to come in Seattle! Prices are affordable, service is quick and friendly, food is always good! The Cap Hill location is nice and has some indoor seating. It's pretty casual and is great for takeout. Food + aloo tikka chaat - fried potato patty is amazing! + chicken tikka roll - very tasty! + masala chai - way better than Starbucks! + mango lassi - creamy and refreshing I've also had their soft serve and that's pretty good as well! Overall a huge fan of Spice Waala!

Great price and quick service! We came in a Friday around 5. The space to dine in is on the smaller side. It's good for 2 people ideally, but can sit 4 people at one of the tables. For one of the rolls and a mango lasso it was 13.79. The rolls are smaller than a burrito, but pretty filling. I tried both the lamb and the chicken tikka. The flavor was good on the lamb, but I liked the bite of the chicken better than the minced lamb. Both were good though. While the taste was there, I wish there was a bit more freshness to the roll, maybe more sauce or more onions? It was a roll of mostly meat, which to most is probably a good thing. Mango lassi was great and thick, would recommend trying! Overall a place to stop by for good food, just wish there was more freshness to cut through the meat/richness. Looking forward to trying their other menu items! The fries looked amazing

Wow. I will be coming back here over and over again. They are the perfect definition of girl dinner, where you can get a bunch of small bite-size items that are affordable, flavorful, shareable, and not too heavy. They also have a rotating seasonal soft serve, and I just had the lychee flavor which Was so good. I think about it all the time. I can't wait to come back here again.

We came on a weekday right when the place opened. Service was quick and food was pretty good. There's bench and table seating inside available but can get full as the place gets busy. It was pretty quiet overall, music playing was chill too. The masala crispy fries were delicious! We asked them not to put the masala on it, but asked for it on the side. If you've had chaat masala, their masala tastes very similar to that. Not bad but we enjoyed the plain crispy fries with the side chutney. The chicken tikka roll was good. Not the best I've had, but overall spices and quantity was good. Prices are pretty decent here for the value!

Jamil R.

We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! I wouldn't consider it super authentic, but overall the food is very good. The service is also very friendly, we had a lot of random questions for the cashier and he was happy to answer them all.

I finally had the chance to try Spice Waala in Cap Hill! They sell Indian street food for reasonable prices and they have rotating ice cream flavors. My friends and I came for the soft serve, they had a Chai flavor when we went. I thought the ice cream was alright (didn't taste too much like chai to me) but I'm glad they have creative flavors. I got two items to go for dinner - the Aloo Tikki Chaat and the Paneer Kathi Roll. Huge fan of the Chaat, I would 100% get it again. The packaging is creative and comes with detailed instructions so you can put it together in the right order. The roll was alright, nothing really special! I thought the two items were filling but I definitely have to come back and try their other items :)

Bansari S.

It is a super small store front but cool to be able to watch some of the food being made while you wait. Food was alright not the best chaat or items tbh. And a bit overpriced for the amount. In would get it if you wanted to try but there are better Indian restaurants in walking distance

Chicken tikka roll, lamb kebab roll, masala aloo (fries), papdi chaat ("Indian nachos")
Chi D.

Came here on a weekday for take out lunch and everything was solid and prices were reasonable. I loved the lamb kebab roll and would get it again in a heartbeat. The fries (masala aloo) were a little soggy, but much improved by some time in the air fryer. The masala chai was not my favorite, and I say this as someone who regularly makes my own masala chai at home. It just wasn't that spicy. I like a strong ginger kick though and a good amount of cardamom, so if you like a more timid chai, maybe this is for you. Interestingly all of the staff were white. Bathrooms are down a hall, but clean.

The currys were piping hot and delicious. I've struggled to find great butter masala in Seattle, and taste of India's hit the mark! Not pictured, but their naans are huge. My husband and I each ordered naan, and the amount of rice, curry, and naan was the perfect amount for a full serving of leftovers. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary samosa appetizers and chocolate torte dessert. Ultimately this place is fantastic and we look forward to coming back- would love to come on a summer evening and sit outside on their patio.

so, this place is pretty clearly, and almost objectively so, made exclusively for westerners…read more what i mean by that is that this place serves Indian food that will not attempt to challenge western palettes in any way - rather its goal is to have people walking out with a mildly positive attitude towards the food. if someone were to ask them how the food was, they will say that it's fine and say that indian food is an underrated cuisine. the first indication of this that caught my eye was on the menu, where it was listed that "all spice levels are American standard". The fact that this is on the menu at an *Indian restaurant* is pretty ridiculous, in my opinion. I'll get to the spice levels later The second indication was when the waiter brought out our naan, and said "Here's your naan bread". I almost laughed out loud at this point. Naan bread? Thank god we didn't order chai or he would've said "Here's your chai tea". when we actually got our food, it was as disappointing as I expected Despite the fact that I ordered the 'Hot' spice level (the second highest), this had utterly no spice at all. I know that I have a high spice tolerance, but you know it's not good when other people at my table who have a low tolerance cannot taste any spice whatsoever. I've had hotter dishes ordering the 'Hot' level at American restaurants! In addition to there not being any spice, there was pretty much no flavor at all to the curries. There was just no point to the gravy on both the Jaipuri "Masala" and the Vegetable Kofta, as it both cases it was quite bland and essentially tasted like nothing. The paneer and the kofta were ok - but nothing more than average. Again, the lack of any kind of flavor is just crazy. Our table also got the Biryani, which had decent vegetables but also suffered from a lack of flavor The roti and garlic naan that we got were really hard and difficult to break apart. not very good at all If you're Indian - do not come here - you'll get far better Indian food either a) at home or b) at another place If you're not Indian - I would highly recommend trying another place to actually get a taste of what Indian food is really like. This watered-down version simply isn't it. I would recommend Saffron Grill in Northgate for an example of Indian food done correctly on the positive side, one thing i appreciated about this menu is the customization available for different curries this is especially helpful when it relates to giving options to vegetarians, as it doesn't restrict people who are vegetarian to specific curry options having paneer, vegetables, and tofu options available for each curry is pretty good i also thought the spinach naan was pretty good. out of all the bread we ordered, it was the only naan that managed to be soft, and easy to pull apart the spinach inside tasted pretty good as well the complimentary samosas (although clearly reheated from frozen) and sweet at the end was a decent touch the portion sizes were also decent - the amount of rice that came with the curry was pretty significant

We were really hungry and decided to join them as I've had this spot saved too as the reviews were pretty positive. They were definitely very popular but we were put on the waitlist but I think it would be helpful if they took peoples' numbers as apparently they would just shout it outside. We weren't aware as we went somewhere else to wait as it was very cold. When we arrived, a different employee started cleaning a table for us and we waited but then the employee who did put us down was frustrated with us as he called us and no one of us answered cause we were elsewhere. We weren't sure if we had a spot after that but luckily the employee who was cleaning was done and offered that spot. They also did drop a glass cup after cleaning nearby which was concerning but they did clean it up right away. Once we were seated, it took almost a half an hour to get some to take our order. Luckily we did get our water refilled decently but there were a few times where our empty glasses were seen and ignored. I definitely think there should be staff training as it was non-existent. I understand being busy but you're across the convention center so it should be expected. The music was also so low I didn't know it was even on, they have a loud fan going on and even their TVs have no volume. It's a pretty awkward ambiance, especially with how they try to look like they are a upscale restaurant. It did take some time to get food and it seems like the kitchen was frustrated too as I heard the bell signaling food being ready several times. The food was actually good, especially for the price. The portions are generous. We never had paratha but our friend recommended it so we got the aloo paratha while my boyfriend got their butter masala and I got their tikka masala extra hot. It wasn't really spicy at all, definitely nothing like what I've had at other Indian restaurants. The curries were flavorful with good pieces of chicken. We might return if we need something nearby but there are definitely better options that I would walk for.
