That said, it's clearly because everything is made fresh and sold by weight, so the wait is completely worth it. They've expanded the menu quite a bit over time, and while prices have gone up recently, the taste and quality make it worth every dollar. This is still my go-to spot and always will be. I asked for him to make mine Thai spicy, and he happily obliged. It was actually pretty spicy, and he gave me some of his homemade spicy sauce on the side to add. It was very good!! While I was waiting, he gave me and another gentleman a sample of the spicy peppers. I think it was a Birds Eye chili. Spicy and tasty. The very kind gentleman paid for my meal. Recently, I saw Spice Bridge pop back up under the Seatango name. I guess the business was bought by their management/ownership team? From what I discussed with the cook and cashier running Seatango, they are trying to revive the food hall. In addition to the Argentinean Seatango, there's already a Cambodian/Filipino place inside, with an espresso place joining in the near future, and then a Tanzanian cuisine stall opening in the middle of June. Very exciting news! I think this development is pretty new, because when we visited for a Friday lunch, the entire food hall was completely empty the entire time we were there. Hopefully things pick up soon! Milanesa Sandwich ($18) - The sandwich is made fresh so it took around 20 minutes to come out. The time intensive part is the preparation of the steak - in this case, pounded until very thin, then breaded and fried. It's not fried too long, so there's not really any crisp from the breading, but that also then leaves the beef tender with a robust beef flavor. The steak is large, spilling over the sides of the sandwich almost like a Midwest pork tenderloin sandwich. The breading is salted quite well. There's chimichurri spread on the top, leaking oil and vinegar down through the sandwich and onto the plate. There's some lettuce and tomato underneath the beef, then mayo spread on the bottom bun. The bun itself is chewy and almost baguette like but with no crust. It's a simple but good sandwich. It's served with two packets of ketchup and a packet of mayo, but there's enough flavor here to not need it. (4/5) Empanada Beef ($5.75) - This empanada is baked until the crust is completely set, but with no char or burnt bits. The shell is flaky and crumbly, buttery, and packed full of flavorful ground beef mixed with a small amount of olives. There's no gristle in the ground beef at all and the mixture is just dry enough so that it doesn't make the crust soggy. Yet it is juicy enough to be very tasty. I originally also wanted to try the Chicken Curry empanada, but it wasn't available. (4/5) Chimichurri, Regular ($1) - With the empanada, the cook asked us if we wanted chimichurri on the side, with a choice of regular or spicy. We went with the regular. This chimichurri, unfortunately, is not good. It seems to be made primarily with dried herbs, so is missing the fragrance and fresh herbal qualities that a good chimichurri really needs. It's tangy with a good vinegar punch, but desperately needs the fresh herbs. Bread Pudding ($4.50) - Totally different from a typical American bread pudding. Instead of having chunks of bread, the carbs here have been turned into essentially a paste and then melded into a egg custard mixture. It almost resembles flan in taste, but a bit firmer and thicker. It even has sweet syrup dripping out of the bottom like flan, and the cooked eggy crust on the top and bottom. It seems to perhaps have some flecks of dried coconut in the bottom? (5/5) Alfajor ($4) - I thought this would be like a choco pie going in, but it's totally different. This alfajor includes dulce de leche sandwiched between two extremely tender and soft cookie-ish pastries that crumble easily, then dipped into chocolate. It's sweet and easy to eat. (5/5) I love that Spice Bridge is being revived! I would not only visit for the other stalls that are opening up, but also Seatango again for their excellent sweets.
