The food here was phenomenal! We were greeted by a very welcoming and friendly gentleman that took our order. I had the chicken kabobs and my mom had the lamb kabobs. I asked if we could have a side of rice which they don't usually have but they were so kind and accommodates our request which they totally didn't have to do. Each order of kabobs comes with a side of bread and a creamy and slightly spicy dipping sauce. I was so full and satisfied but couldn't finish it all in one sitting. The only thing that was better than the food was the hospitality that business owner Sayed extended to us. Not having experience with this cuisine before, he had variety of dishes prepared for us which was such an incredible and welcoming experience. This Afghani restaurant was quite decent and is located near Des Moines not too far from Highline College. We decided to experiment for "date night" and this was a pleasant surprise, the food was very tasty. There is a prayer pad at the front of the store. It was about 77F degrees in there at 9pm at night in March, so it was a bit warm that I had to take off my jacket. This might be from the kitchen equipment though. We had as follows: "Chicken Kabab, Chicken Karahi, Samosa and a Sprite." Total was $54.27 for the entire meal. It came with a generous portion of a Naan type bread which tasted great. The chef was nice to us and answered all of our questions. He gave us some hot Ceylon tea before the meal was served, he also mentioned all the food was Halal. Side note: There was a homeless man that was in just before we got there (when the place was empty) and was begging for food. The chef gave him a portion of rice and something else. I thought that was very upstanding of him to do that for him. If you ever wanted to experiment with Afghani food it has some similarities to Indian and Mediterranean, yet has it's own unique flair. 5 stars. read more

I really wanted this to be good, but unfortunately it disappointed me. The bread was not warm, room temperature so basically cold. The samosa were still literally frozen on the inside. Lamb Kebab was cooked ok but a bit salty. At least the server tried to be nice. read more

At first we were skeptical about going there because this place had 5star reviews so we thought maybe it's fake but we ended up trying it as others around weren't so good anyways so as we entered the restaurant it was clean and we were greeted by very nice owners. The food menu was limited and very reasonably priced. We decided to order their palao rice, Chapli kabob, and chicken kabob. Man we lovedddd their palao rice and chapli kabob. The best food hands down. Chicken was also good. Food was fresh and very tasteful. My family has only been introduced to Afghan food in the past year, but what a treat! We were excited to see this place open near our home and stopped in to order take out. I found the shop to be very clean and tidy, and employees are very attentive and kind. Not knowing most of the dishes, I asked for recommendations, and ordered three dishes to take home. All were delicious and well prepared and well packaged for carrying home. Looking forward to eating here again soon. Can't say enough about how nice the staff was. I arrived at a slow time (daytime during Ramadan) and the employee there took time to ask questions about our food preferences and answer some of my questions as well. I didn't take any photos--next time. If you've never tried Afghan food, don't wait. The Kebab is amazing. (Served like a sandwich or buritto in a large flat bread) Kabuli Pulau is a flavorful rice dish that has a kind of sweet beefy flavor and a lot of aromatics. There is not a heavy use of hot/spices nor particularly heavy flavor--I'm certian you'll find something for everyone here. read more

I was reading some of the reviews and saw that people complained about the small portion. I thought the proportions were very very generous compared to the price. We just pulled of the highway for a bathroom break but the grocery store bathrooms were closed. We were starving and my wife and son walked in and ordered a couple of chicken kebabs. WOW! so delicious, we live in Bellevue but will definitely be coming back any time we are down in kent and will order extra for leftovers. Go try this place anytime you're in or around Kent and you will be so grateful you did! The food is delish - we tried the chicken kebab, lamb kebab, the chapli and the samosas, and they were all high quality, flavorful and well cooked. The food truly seems like a labor of love because you can tell everything is made in a homemade fashion. The samosas, for instance, reminded me of Pakistan -- something I have NEVER had in the several years I've been in the US and elsewhere. Also, ask for the green chutney because that's divine. For dessert, the Russ malai is off the charts. They serve free tea which is very generous and the prices are overall very reasonable. The owner Syed treated us with a lot of care and respect and we had a great time chatting with him. I really wish this place was closer to Seattle so we could go more often but we'll definitely come back anytime it's on our way. I hope the place thrives!
