We bought out bikes there about 18 months and I took it in for a service and a few questions, the new owners are so great and friendly and gave me some great advice on taking care of the bike, the battery and understanding how to take the battery off to store it. The even put on my new seat and adjusted the back rack to fit my pack and wouldn't take a dime. Being 70 they were so sweet to take the bike off the rack and place it back on and give me some advice on that as well!!! I think they are so great and would recommend them to anyone. read more

We were visiting from out of town when my car broke down for a couple days, so they were a lifesaver! Also they offer discounts for multiple bikes/multiple days, which really helps the total cost. Free helmet and lock with your rental! I would recommend bringing/renting a cushion for the seat if you are a newer rider(like myself). Friendly and courteous staff, helped us understand all the local bike/multi use paths. The E bikes were fun and easy to use on off road paths or on the pavement. Overall a great experience, I will definitely be back next time I visit! read more

I'm always reluctant to give bad reviews, because I'm aware that I rarely know the whole story. As I write this, follow-on effects of the COVID-19 lockdowns have created a labor shortage as well as burgeoning demand for ebikes and all sorts of other products that are having parts and labor shortages. I get that, and I'm sympathetic to that. Even knowing these things, though, and making allowances, I find that I'm very disappointed in this shop so far. I bought an ebike a week ago and was told that they were a bit backed up and could have my bike for me in 3-4 days. Clearly, we're past that point, and I've heard nothing about my bike's ETA. I called late last week to check on progress, and all the man who answered the phone would tell me is that my bike is in line to be assembled and have all the accessories I bought added. He couldn't or wouldn't give me even an estimated delivery date. Perhaps I should blame myself, too, because there were some weird things about this shop that I overlooked when I was buying my bike. For instance, I was never really fitted to a bike frame the way I've always been fitted when buying a bike from a professionally run shop in the past. The bike has a throttle option (whether it operates with or without pedal assist), and I was never asked which I wanted. And when I asked the best way to ride bikes to check them out, I was directed to just take it around the block, which is not a very good way to let a bike show its form. I've owned and operated businesses, and maybe I'm a bit like a former waiter in a restaurant who has little patience for other waiters who aren't up to snuff. As a former business owner, I always tried to under-promise and over-deliver. It appears that this bike shop has the opposite philosophy: Over-promise and under-deliver. I've yet to take delivery of the bike, and I hope something in the future will change my mind about this place. If so, I'll come back and edit this. It's possible that my experience is unusual, and that they'll find some way to make all this good. I'm not optimistic about that, considering how I've been treated so far, but I still have hope. If you decide to use this shop, all I can say is that you now have some information on the reliability of their commitments, and I hope you have a better experience than I'm having. ************* Update: I upgraded my review to three stars because, once I explained to them that I need this bike for health reasons, they assembled and delivered it within a couple of days. They're really nice people, and I do understand that labor is tight right now. I suppose my complaint really boils down to their setting unrealistic expectations. Had I been told it would take 10-11 days to assemble and deliver my bike, I might have shopped elsewhere since I have an immediate need. So ... there's that. My wife also wants an ebike, but doesn't have such an immediate need. I think I like them enough to go back to them for her bike, and I suppose that says something about what we value. read more

We took our eBikes in for maintenance so they would be ready when warm weather comes. They told us they would probably be able to get to them by Monday or Tuesday of the following week, but they called in the early afternoon on Monday and said they were ready to go! Not only did they do the usual maintenance, but replaced a defective wheel at no charge. We bought our first bike from Small Planet three years ago, and were satisfied enough to buy a second one a year later. Their service is excellent and we will happily continue to do business with them. read more

Most incompetent bike shop I've ever worked with. The owner, Tom, is nice but doesn't know anything about the bikes. They desperately need a knowledgeable sales person and an office manager. The store is a disorganized mess. He has you call Ed who was helpful in the beginning on the phone to select a model, but was rude in person (Hey remember we are the ones who bought that Bulls Xx? E: Congratulations. I don't know what's going on here I just take the bikes and repair them.) I did end up buying a bike because I couldn't find the Bulls I wanted anywhere else. When I brought it in for its first service last week, they said it would be ready in three days. When I called to find out, Zach said he didn't know what I was talking about. When I reminded him that I helped him fill out the slip, he said he didn't see the bike and he was too busy to work on it. I said I could come and take it elsewhere, and he said that'd be good. The next day someone else from the shop called me and asked if I was sure I left it there, because they couldn't find it! We went the next morning in a panic, thinking we'd have to report it stolen, but found Ed at the end store who said it was at his house. So clearly a huge lack of communication among the staff. I finally picked it up a week after I had dropped it off. Walked in and told Tom I was taking my bike. He didn't ask to see my slip and didn't ask for my name. Anyone could have walked in and grabbed my bike. Also, if you are concerned about your health, despite the most recent governor's order, Tom neither wears a mask nor provides 6 ft distance. read more

I had ordered my E-Bike online and although I had carefully followed the assembly instructions, I continued to have issues with brakes and torque adjustment. Phill, the mechanic, quickly accepted my bike and did a complete tune up while I waited. He bled and adjusted the brakes and derailleur, torqued all critical connections and installed puncture resistant liners. Outstanding service, I couldn't give these gentleman a higher recommendation. I'll be bringing my wife's bike in soon. read more

If you're in the market for an electric bike, you have to check out Tom's store. He's got a great selection. Tom, the owner, will work with you personally to find the perfect e-bike that fits your needs (and wants!). I was looking to get an e-bike last month and was happy I found this store. I ended up getting the Stromer ST1 and WOW, so fun to ride! So a warning to fellow yelpers: do not test ride the Stromer ST1. You will absolutely love it and will end up having to get one. Hehehe. This store is good for kids too. Tom carries the Strider and my 2 year old son loves riding that thing. I've never heard of the balance bikes until we visited this store. I'm glad I got my son this instead of a bike with training wheels. I know the location of this store may be a concern to some. I live close to Parker, CO and I can say we've gone up there about 3 times already. It's worth the trip. So check it out! read more

This place is has two really great mechanics. Thorough and reasonably priced even though during covid they could gauge you, they don't. The bikes are wiped down after you touch them. There's hand sanitizer by the door and the mechanics wear masks long before they had to. read more

Sherry was top of her game customer service when I rented an electric for the day. I was in Longmont to explore the city, and this was the best way. Longmont has many paved bicycle trails as well as bicycle lanes. Rental bicycle was in perfect condition and Sherry gave me maps and directions and suggestions to enjoy my day. Sherry was an ambassador for Small Planet, Longmont and humanity. read more

Bikes are junk and Zack is terrible!! My bike keeps having error messages since the day we bought it especially when I take it up hills. Had to take it in for a tune up because it kept breaking down, and Zack kept trying to charge me because he said they didn't assemble the bike when we literally bought it from the showroom floor fully assembled. Zack was also supposed to relocate my wife's water bottle holder, but instead of relocating it he took it and put a cheaper piece of junk on her bike. When I brought the bike home my wife said where is my water bottle holder (larger holder that holds a Yeti water bottle) and I said Zack exchanged for this one. So my wife went back to get it and instead of handling this situation properly he called the police. Police got there and were able to get some of the water bottle holder back (not the part that attaches it to the bike) for my wife and said we will have to handle anything else in civil court, no arrests were made and the cops said this was a complete waste of time...good job Zack. Funny how he called the police because my wife was aggrevated and got loud when it seems like he committed the crime. Avoid this place especially Zack he may call the cops on you for trying to get your merchandise back. read more

The people working at this shop are honest, and I particularly like the mechanic - very knowledgeable and helpful. The reason I am giving them 2 stars is the guy who works at the counter and answers the phone (I think it's the owner, Tom Wilson) is really poor on follow through. After purchasing an ebike from them ~7 months ago, I have called for service or accessories a number of times, and he always tells me "I'll call you with an answer tomorrow" and then *never* does. If this happened once or twice I'd chalk it up to them having a difficult day, but it always happens. I'll call about something, and when he doesn't call me back after a week I'll call again, and he'll again promise to get back to me, and again never get back to me. The last time this happened I called 5 times and still never got an answer (and this was when I was inquiring about purchasing a $450 accessory). I give up. I'm going to find another shop for my future bike needs. read more

I purchased two ebikes last October from a company in CA. Wife and I put about 100 miles on them, had some issues and wanted to get tune ups done. I live in Fort Collins and checked with a couple of shops here and they wanted $200 for a tune up that did not include any e repairs - just the bike components! Ridiculous. I called down to Small Planet and they said the charged $90. Since we were coming from out of town, they also scheduled us to bring the bikes in so they could work on them right away. The mechanics (Basil and Zack) were excellent - their work was excellent, they trued one wheel (not part of tune up), realigned derailleurs, etc. The bikes actually needed more adjustments than I thought they should have (being so new and only being ridden on paved trails and streets). That is more a manufacturing issue. In any case, I was very pleased with the work performed and would definitely consider bringing any bike I own to them. Worth the drive. read more

Wonderful service! I purchased my 'EZ Pedaler 350' about a week ago, and am very pleased with both my purchase and how helpful the salesperson (Tom) was. Over the course of several visits, he was very helpful and patient while I tried out a number of different models to see which one would be the best overall fit. My partner and I worked closely with Edward, who has done an amazing job setting us up with bikes. We visited the store and rode at least 8 bikes between us, after Edward detailed the difference between motors, frames, components, etc. We narrowed down choices, then Ed drove the van to the base of our steep mountain road the next afternoon, where we test rode those bikes and others. We'll close the deal tomorrow after making the final choice -- no pressure from the folks to buy right there on the spot. read more

Small Planet claims to be a service center for Razor brand electric vehicles so I took my sons scooter wheel in for service. A simple tire change. I did not have the correct tools so u figured I'd allow this simple task to be completed by the " experts". Was told $10 for the service. Felt that was fair. Ended up charging me $30...just to change a tire...needless to say, I wasn't pleased and will never return. Beware! Beware! Beware! read more
