Awesome place. Fun. Big. Lots of back issues. If you have a few hours to spare this is the pace. Organization is a bit odd- it's more by decade than title but that makes it fun to fun I think. Prices d add los seemed good. read more

This place is amazing, best of all the people working there. My wife and I came down 2 weeks ago from Northern California and they welcomed us in, chatted with us, we joked around. We talked about our cats haha. They are so knowledgeable and love how they have everything organized by decades. They gave my wife a trivia question and because she got it right, wink, wink, they let her pick 2 comics for free. I saw them interact with this little kid, you can just tell they love kids and love their job. When I'm back in Souther California, I'm definitely stopping by there again! read more

Couldn't ask for a nicer group of folks. Very friendly, welcoming, and happy to have visitors. Great selection of comics from every era and all reasonably priced. A back room is filled with $1 comics as well as toys and other collectibles. read more

My husband is very into comics, figures, etc. so in the last 14 years, as you might imagine, I've accompanied him to many comic stores and the like. By far, the people here are the friendliest, most helpful, most affable people in the industry! This place carries back issues, which is what my husband was on the hunt for. He was able to find so much of what he was looking for with ease. Fair prices, well organized, and just generally a great spot. read more

Such a wonderful place! I collected comics in the early 90s and coincidentally found this gem next to the studio where my triplet 6-year old boys are learning the piano. I couldn't help myself but pick up some nostalgic memorabilia. Looking forward to sharing this tangible (no iPads here) experience with my boys. They even have the best arcade games (MK & Marvel vs. Capcom)! I'm now working on tracking down my old collection :) read more

Spero's Heroes is a fantastic comic book store that definitely brought out my inner geek. The staff were kind, enthusiastic, and friendly. They were very accommodating to my gf and myself and their 4 legged team member was very cute. The selection was rather vast and all fairly priced. The team was even super generous enough to provide us with the opportunity of winning an issue, after successfully answering a trivia question :) The team informed me that they were also in the process of expanding their manga catalogue and even asked for some suggestions of what I would like to see which shows how they value their customers' opinions and feedback. I think it goes without saying that with the experience I had, I will most definitely be back to peruse for old classic comics! read more

Spero’s Heroes Comic Book Store - All the comics we couldn't leave behind :) - Comic Books Near Me - Chatsworth, California

Spero's Heroes is my number one go-to for the older comics I'm collecting. The staff are delightfully friendly and the selection is easy to search through. I don't make it here as often as I'd like, but it's always a treat when I do. Be warned, though, the staff are SO pleasant and the ambiance SO inviting that one could easily spend much more time here than initially planned. I have. I have bought at other stores in town (because even Spero's doesn't have everything every day). But, when I do, I invariably end up asking myself how much better the price would have been here. THAT is how good the prices here are. read more

Best Comic Book store experience ever!!! I went in to buy a Funko Pop for my son. The entire staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The owner made a point to shake my hand and offer cookies. It really made my day. And the trivia game at the end of the shopping experience was so much fun!!! read more

Great store for back issues. Found some great Nexus and BPRD issues in the dollar bins. Everything is pretty well organized as far as the boxes go, but looking in them you might need to dig a bit to find what you're looking for. They have a neat trivia game as an incentive to keep coming back. I will be returning to see what their Aliens DH cache will yield! read more

We visited Spero's as part of our Southern California road trip, and it was without a doubt the highlight of our trip. My husband likes oldish comics in readable condition, so when he saw that they had an entire ROOM of $1.00 comics he was overwhelmed, then thrilled. The boxes are all sorted and labeled to make it easier to find what you like. We had a great time searching and my husband went home with a whole box full of comics, but the best part was visiting with the staff. They are so friendly, so much fun, so kind, the type of people you want to just hang out with all day. They have an impressive collection of really valuable comics that they brought down to show us, just for fun, which was really cool. This is a great comic shop and we're really glad we found it. read more

If you're looking for back issues or dollar comic books, this is the store. Great selection and fun staff as well. My kind of jam.

My wife took me to Spero's a few months back for my birthday. We planned on spending thirty minutes hunting for comics but ended up spending over two hours there taking to some of the kindest and caring people we've met, Reza, Elliott and Loki. Since that first stop, I've visited hidden on multiple occasions and just redeemed my first stamp card at their Halloween event! Although they have great comics and get fresh produce weekly, it's the people that keep me coming back. Reza runs the store like its his own and treats every customer like they're a guest in his home. Kevin is a wonderful conversationalist and always shows genuine interest in whatever I'd like to talk about. Loki is the shop's secret weapon as she fills the room with energy and laughter. Last but certainly not least, Elliott, the godfather, is responsible for creating this special culture that keeps me and so many others coming back. You can tell he loves comics, but he loves people more than anything. If you're looking for comics, this is the place. If you're looking for comics and an LCS that will capture your heart, look no further than Spero's. read more

The other Nelson. This is coming from a guy who has collected comics well over 40 years. Of all the places I have gone to collect these paper treasures, this place is by far hands down the best when it comes to key back issues, prices and friendly staff. It's starts with the God Father of comics Eliot and extends to his staff Kevin and Reza. They always make you feel welcome and both are super knowledgeable about everything comics. I urge everyone to drive to this store to check it out. It will not disappoint. read more

I read on a few different lists that this place was the spot to go for back issues, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. The staff was exceptionally friendly to me and my wife, and they pointed me exactly at what I was looking for. I came in on the hunt for '90s green lantern back issues, expecting to find two or three, but I ended up with a huge chunk of issues that I needed with more left behind that I didn't grab...the selection of the back issues here is unparalleled and well worth making the trip out here from the neighboring areas. At checkout, they even do a trivia question, and if you answer it correctly, you get a free 3-9 $ comic of your choice! I will most certainly return here for all my back issue needs. The prices are fair for the non-key back issues, but don't be surprised if your bill ends up ballooning due to the sheer volume of titles they have available! read more

What an addictive store. I have to set a timer for myself so I don't get lost. No seriously, this place is filled with great comics (selection) and I'm always getting such a good deal that it feels like a steal!! I love this comic shop. They got a huge selection of dollar comics as well as many cool key issues. Elliot (the Don) , Reza and Kevin are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. A unique comic book experience made by and for comic book fans. Drop by if you get a chance, it's well worth it.

The best for back issues. $1.00 back issues with a huge selection. Staff is welcoming and friendly. All around great vibes and a good time.

I have been to Spero's a few times now and I have left the store each time feeling completely satisfied. I have spent many hours searching through their curated whole collections and flipping through 50 cent issues in the back room. The last time I went I decided to do a short box fill up. They give you a short box and you can fill it with as many comics that will fit. I spent a good chunk of my afternoon pulling down their various boxes and flipping through back issues. They have a great and organized selection from all publishers in the back room. They only charge $65 for the short box fill up and you keep the short box. I also wanted to note how kind everyone at the shop was. They checked in periodically but not in a way that was disruptive. One associate made sure to ask if I was having fun, which I found to be such a sweet sentiment. These are people who love comics and want to make sure their customers are having a great time looking at their inventory. I was indeed having fun. One thing I want to note to any reader is that this isn't a place to set up a monthly subscription box. I don't mean that as a criticism, just looking to inform that this isn't a shop where you can peruse new weekly releases on the rack. They have plenty of recent releases in stock of course. I can't wait to come back. These trips to Spero's do a lot of the heavy lifting with filling the gaps in my collections. Thank you Spero's! read more

If you're looking for a place to dive head first into some classic and modern comic issues, THIS is the place. Spero's Heroes is packed with box after box full of comics, organized by character and/or comic book company. Staff were very friendly and greeted everyone that came in. They all introduced themselves, gave us a tour of the store and made sure to check in to see if we needed help. Highly recommend this store. Don't forget to test your pop culture/geek knowledge at checkout, as one of the nice staff members loves asking a trivia question to customers before they leave. read more

This place has so many books to choose from, and the booksellers are AWESOME!! Lovely little gem of a comic book store. Boxes upon boxes of comics to peruse through. In the front, they have some "valuable" comics up. what's cool is they put up comics for sale on their Instagram and you can buy it for pickup or shipping. I've bought two comics that way. The owner is very nice and gives you a punch card when you shop there. Definitely recommend if you are a comic book fan. read more

I have never felt more like family in any other comic shop I've visited. The staff welcome you warmly every time you visit, give tours, point out new books, and even invite you to play a trivia game at the counter with a chance to win free books every time you check out. One of the things that stand out to me which is not very common among most shops is the diversity in the staff. They represent diverse ages, genders, and backgrounds which lead to plenty of lively conversations. I couldn't say enough good things about this shop. They have a forever customer in me. read more

It's not just the best comic book store, it's THE ONLY COMIC BOOK STORE WORTH TALKING ABOUT. My son has been wanting to come here for weeks, and we finally made it happen today. The inventory at this place is great, but what made it extra amazing are the people who work here. They connected with my son and were so engaging with him. They have a trivia game where if you answer a question correctly they will give you a free comic, which my son loved. They really go out of their way to make your visit great. My son left the shop saying, "see!! I told you it was worth the drive!!". We will definitely be back. read more

Nice staff but be careful if you're female. I went there once on a Comic Book Store Crawl on Devonshire with my dad and I think I was looking for a Daredevil comic book and they had me almost look in the back and were kind of pushy with their sales pitch. I love it here. There's a reason why this place has amazing ratings. I like the vibe and acceptance that this comic book store offers. It operates under the same guidelines as everywhere else: Be nice, don't be a Chad/Karen, and if you don't like it you can take your entitled ass self elsewhere lol. The employees are very pleasant and respectful. Sara was very helpful. She answered all my questions and never made me feel like I was being rushed or dumb. I felt like she is absolutely committed to making this a fun, nerdy and fantastic experience for her customers. 10/15 would recommend! read more
