On January 29, 2026, I visited your Speedway location at 1518 N. Main Street, as I have routinely done for more than 30 years, to purchase gas, snacks, and fountain drinks. Throughout decades of frequent visits, I have never experienced an unpleasant or inappropriate interaction with staff--until this incident.
As I placed my items on the counter, the cashier picked up a Hershey bar, looked at my partner, and asked, "Where's the other one?" The tone and implication were accusatory. I responded that we had decided to purchase only one and asked whether there was a problem. She replied, "I saw you with two," effectively implying theft. I was shocked and offended by the assumption, especially considering we had a substantial purchase at the register.
Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident. A few months prior, this same cashier loudly accused my partner of not paying for a fountain drink while he was actively completing the transaction at the register. The accusation was made in front of other customers, causing unnecessary embarrassment. When it was explained that he was paying for the item along with fuel, the cashier did not apologize. Instead, she responded dismissively, stating, "Well, how was I supposed to know that?"
This pattern of behavior reflects poor judgment, lack of professionalism, and an inappropriate approach to customer interaction. Public accusations of theft, especially without evidence, are unacceptable and damaging to the customer experience and to your company's reputation.
After more than three decades of loyal patronage, I am deeply disappointed to say that I will no longer feel comfortable visiting this location as long as this individual remains in a customer-facing role. I believe this matter warrants serious review and corrective action.
I am submitting this complaint in hopes that Speedway will address this issue and uphold the standards of respect and professionalism that customers expect. read more
