I normally get a London Fog Tea Latte, and they used to be very good. These last couple of times, it's as if they steep the tea and then add warmed milk to it. No foam, no creamy texture. Just a mug of tea with flat warm milk. So this time I took my drink back and talked to the barista. I showed her the drink, and she acknowledged that it definitely was not very creamy or foamy. But here is the part that really floored me. She said that they use an "auto steamer" (which is a steaming and frothing device used by larger coffee chains) and that there was nothing they could do about this situation. Seriously? They then just looked at me with blank stares. Totally bizarre for a small local shop that considers itself to be unique and focused on quality.

Points for the name, borrowed from the nearby trail and surely eliciting squeals of delight from the old school train crowd! Front of the house staff were very friendly and patiently explained the different pastry options on offer--many of which looked amazing. First we went with breakfast; my brioche egg sandwich was quite good though my husband found his english muffin sandwich to be bland and unremarkable. Unfortunately, their food system needs some work. I ordered the sandwiches for dine in with my name. The kitchen staff prepares the orders, hurriedly mumbles a name on their way out of the kitchen and unless you are standing in the right spot to hear him, you don't know if that's your order or not. Making matters worse, our food was prepped to go. Staff did offer to plate it, but it seemed silly to also dirty dishes and plastic containers so we declined the offer. The pastries are really where Interurban shines! I had half of my husband's cinnamon roll three days later and it was amazing. Like Costco cinnamon roll amazing. And my roasted pineapple cheese danish was phenomenal the next day hot out of the toaster oven! I was going to take a picture but I devoured it before my wits were totally about me, so you'll just have to take my word on that one.

I usually ask for it in a mug, but unfortunately they don't have mugs, so you get a paper cup. I asked for whole milk, a little lavender, and a little vanilla. After I got it and looked inside, I was seriously disappointed. It was pretty much a cup of hot milk with a tea bag floating at the top. It was hot and had reasonably good flavor (the bag was still steeping), but there wasn't much latte texture at all. I didn't even finish it. They have a nice selection of different bakery items, cakes, and cookies. I saw many people enjoying these, but I didn't get anything myself. Service: The folks taking the order were nice. They seemed to know lots of regulars who came in for beverages and food. Atmosphere: The place is super cute. It has an old-time feel to it, with a tin ceiling, wood floors, period lighting, and a cast-iron radiator. The roaster sits in the middle of the place, with a counter all around it for enjoying your drink. Other seating options are along the outside walls and near the front windows. However, we did not have that long to wait as we were on our way to somewhere. I approached the counter to ask how much longer it would be after about 30 minutes and was met with an unpleasant and unhelpful employee. I usually do not leave 2-star reviews, but 45 minutes was ridiculous for lattes. The employees should have warned us that they were so backed up because we would have went elsewhere. Okay, you don't have to have that specific scenario to enjoy this cozy spot! My Salted Caramel Mocha was a thing of rare beauty and joy, and I went ahead and signed up for their loyalty club at the same time (who doesn't like freebies in exchange for your soul/data?). If you want to work out of this location, make sure you have a fully charged battery as there are few outlets in the inner cafe area; the outer area is better equipped that way but was decidedly lacking in heat and not a place I could stay for any larger amount of time! Since I was there a while, I also went with a peanut butter cake, though I was disappointed to find out that you earn no points on food, just coffee. The cake was very good but also very rich, and I wish that had water on hand to help me finish it!

Milk Chocolate Peanut Cups: I don't know if there's a better combination with milk chocolate than…read morepeanut butter. It's important that each component be just right or it can ruin the cup though. The Nutman Company was founded in 1992 in Hubertus, WI. Not that I dislike Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (quite the opposite), but Nutman's version is easily superior and possibly the best I've ever had. After having these I could easily go without ever having Reese's again (gasp). The milk chocolate is smooth & creamy. Biting into the chocolate, it's very soft & the creamy peanut butter innards are quickly exposed. Reese's has a chunkier and more solid peanut butter core. The core of this product is more velvety & smooth. It's not in a messy liquid state, but it's not nearly as firm as Reese's and other brands either. It reminds me of peanut butter chocolates from another local WI candy maker (Quality Candy/Buddy Squirrel). Just like those other brands, Nutman's version is Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews
