While I do appreciate Mr. Tire filling the air on her tire "on the house".... They told her she needed a new tire, it has a nail in the sidewall, and it couldn't be repaired. I looked at the sidewall inside and out of the tire for a good 10 minutes, only to find I was wasting my time. There was a screw in the tread of the tire. If the only way you get business is doing a courtesy tire pressure correction and lying to people you should probably find some other profession.

Monday, Nov 3, 2025 WARNING*WARNING…read more STAY AWAY. RUN. HIDE. FROM: MR.TIRE at 2323 Northwest Blvd. Newton, NC 28658. Tel # (828) 464-2434. Two female family members recently went into Mr. Tire in Newton, Catawba County, NC, to have her newly purchased battery from a different retailer get installed. The battery compartment in her vehicle is located behind the front passenger's seat. It's around 15 minutes to swap on a bad day. On this vehicle, it's moving the floor mat, removing 2 screws from the cover to get to the battery, and unscrewing the battery safety crossbar that keeps it from moving. Disconnect the positive and negative cables. Removing the old battery, putting in the new one. Applying the battery gel that was also with the new battery and tightening the safety bar, cables, battery/ floor cover, and placing the floor mat over it. That's it!! "And for her to get a shocking bill of 100.00 dollars!!' Actually, it was for like $95.94. But still. This outrageous charge!? I then went back to Mr. Tire to speak to them. There were 2 guys at the counter. I was only dealing with one of them. The other one was sitting to the side. Looking uninterested in our conversation. I first asked if they offer any military discount. He said NO! While I'm talking. The other guy sitting to the right side goes back to the garage area and quickly calls his assistant manager, James Simmons, and gossips about what's going on. Very unprofessional. It looked more like when a baby goes to mommy and cries that the other kids are touching his toys! So, while the guy I'm dealing with is talking to (so-called "not-ready-for-prime-time supervising", James Simmons), his boss. His boss already knew what was going on and said, "That was the price", "There's nothing he can do about it", etc., etc. They weren't willing to work something out, meet halfway, 'NOTHING'. They were happy and thrilled to have been able to take advantage of 2 vulnerable ladies, who didn't know anything about cars, and didn't think that they would be ripped off. I would just recommend going to someone else. Where they will treat you with respect, decency, and most importantly, without, "Malicious Intent"! The staff here at Mr. Tire in Newton are unprofessional, ill-equipped to handle customers' complaints, issues, and/ or concerns. They don't give a damn about you! And to the so-called " make-believe I-will-pray-for-you " assistance manager, James Simmons. I hope you're able to sleep at night knowing what you're doing to the innocent people who walk into Mr. Tire, thinking they'll be treated fairly and charged a decent price. You and your goons, sadly to say, didn't just cross the line. "You erase it"! Pat yourself on the back, why don't you? NOT AN UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER. NO! I JUST PITY ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR LOW, LOW STANDARDS. AND WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!

Sorry for all the long posts but this is crazy:Still zero stars for this place to. They took my van…read moresaid they would fix it. Because there sister garage messed it up. Nd the owner said they had to. Then lied said i needed a intake manifold gasket i didn't need and i got it another 350.00. Still throwing the same codes still running the same after the gasket. Then on Friday i called and think about it im A month or more of them having my backup vehicle in the garage cause they messed it up and was trying to get out of fixing it. I get a phone call i recorded and its the manager justin said they finally took the peep things off and looks like your timing has been off the whole time. I said unbelievable wow. Mind you now my main van is broken down to and im left without a vehicle so i asked them now what. He said he was waiting on you the owner to decide whether he was going to let him fix it or send it back to westlake in Denver. I said i would rather yall fix it. He said he would let me know. Monday comes and he calls again i recorded it he said the owner said for them to fix it and he would work it out with him. I said great cause Im at Toyota buying anew one now cause I can't be down a day i have a business to run thats why i keep two vans. So i got a beautiful new 2025 Toyota for alot of money all because they were not fixing my vehicle. He said nothing to worry about we are tearing it down now to fix your timing issue. Again i said great. Then i get a call that afternoon that the tore it apart and the timing wasn't off it was a eco mode problem that they couldn't fix and that i need to take it to honda. I was flabbergasted and pretty upset. So i said don't touch it ill come get it and take it to honda. And guess what honda listened to my story went straight to checking everything out and making sure the timing was correct. And it was not it was off and that was the problem the whole time. I got video footage of them inspecting everything and they wrote a letter explaining that was definitely the problem. Now im 53,000 dollars in debt for a new van and I went through thousands of dollars in money and god only knows how many hours of pulling my hair out thinking this was going to bankrupt my company. Moral of story: stay away from westlake and this place and any other select tire location they are a joke.

This was my second time going to this business- the first time they were going to charge me ~$200…read morefor a workup saying it could be all these issues wrong with the car. Thankfully, I went somewhere else who diagnosed it as a knot in the tire and only charged me $40 for a comparable tire- no charge for "work up". This second time I went here, I was running out of daylight with work and everything and accidentally went back to this place (I couldn't remember the other place I had been to that was good, and ended up putting the wrong thing in the GPS, but figured how bad can it be). Momentum calls themselves a family run business but do not let that fool you. I got two second opinions about my car- and some of the things Momentum recommended I did not need done. Not only this, they wanted to charge me over $2,300 for the issues. The two other places I called and asked said it should be under 1K and to go see them. Thankfully, I was able to go back into Momentum and asked them to stop the repairs. At that point they had already done three tire replacements (which I did know I needed so this was fine), and I asked them to finish with the fourth but not to do all the other things they were going to do. I ended up paying $520 for new tires, which I didn't think was that bad. However, I did not appreciate the fact that these tires retail for $70 at Walmart, and Momentum charged me $88 per tire, and only after the fact did they tell me it was also a $30 fee per tire. Plus tax on top of this. This morning, I went to one of the said local shops I spoke with, and they told me the tires were a low quality brand (opposite of what momentum told me), and also said they could have done comparable tires for $365 total. I also got what actually needed done for much less of a price. Needless to say, do not go to Momentum Tire. They are crooks and should be ashamed of themselves. I am not sure if they see a girl and take advantage, but there were older people there too and I can't imagine how much money they are unnecessarily poaching from people. I also found out they have gotten in trouble for price gouging in the past and have that reputation. Thankful I spoke up and saved myself minimum 1K even though I lost some on the tires, but wow, awful experience. Don't let friendliness fool you.

I have had some work done at Momentum in Morganton a couple of times within the last 9 months: oil…read morechange, oil pressure sensor replaced, serpentine belt replaced, NC state inspection. They were very professional, and the work was done to my satisfaction. What made Momentum stand out and earn a great review instead of a good review for me was for following events that took place yesterday. I noticed a severe oil leak just after taking my almost 16-year-old dog to the vet to be euthanized. A sad day to start and then more stress heaped on with my first oil leak on a car I have had for 7 years - coincidentally just after trying out a new garage that had over charged me and tried to sell me several services that I knew I didn't need. After noticing the oil leak, I immediately took my vehicle back to the garage (new place in town - they still have balloons out front) I had decided to try out with an oil change one week earlier. As I write this review, I have now had 2 bad experiences at the "new garage" and left very unsatisfied both times: both when I picked up my car after the oil change and when I took it back after noticing the oil leak. I then decided to take my vehicle back to Momentum which was the last garage I had work done before the unsatisfactory oil change. I didn't have an appointment yesterday, but they fit me in since the oil leak was severe, and I was a returning customer. Not only did they fit me in, but they also found 2 different potential leak spots. They warrantied one which could have been a result of the oil pressure sensor they had replaced months ago, and they did some deep dive analysis on other potential leak spots, tightening up what seemed to need it. They went the extra mile and restored my faith in a garage. I had two negative experiences at the new garage I had tried out and a bad day in general. Now I know the first place I will take my vehicle from now on. No more trying out "the new place in town". My go-to garage from now on is Momentum. Thanks for restoring my faith in a local business and making a bad day a little better.
