in for AC work on recommendation except they've moved to a new location since carl had his car in…read moreand now it's that much closer to work. neat! so I stopped on the way home and made arrangements to have the air serviced the following day. we got back with the gold car in time to hand over the keys as they were locking up, exchanged pleasantries, and said good night. got a phone call the following morning saying they couldn't find a leak but there must be one since it took a bunch of refrigerant. did the money-for-services exchange and the air blows a bit cooler now plus there's a colorant going roundy-round what ought to show up around the icky part(s) sooner rather than never unless the AC just fixes itself in which case I'm going to have them take a look at my house next ;-) this place still has the new shop smell (plus popcorn) and I don't know if it's had enough time to get seriously mucked up yet but clean is clean... so it's a couple days later and the air is still conditioned so now we sits and waits :-)

my regular guy was inconveniently between shops at the end of summer when the silver truck was…read moredriving poorly. the engine would wind up something fierce but didn't transmit those revolutions to the wheels. sounds like a job for Transmissions Unlimited..! but NOPE! bad slip yoke, bad bearing up front, bad rear CV-axle, sketchy brakes, and the AC compressor is shot - not sure why it was still blowing the coldest of all airs, but it was wrecked none the less and stealing all the power. after assessing the suggested repairs I elected to have them fix the the drive line stuff while I took care of the bearing and made arrangements for the AC - so no cold air during the warmness :-( everything seems to be in good order a month later and I'm mostly okay with that even though it was a little spendier than I expected (not unreasonable since I didn't have to dink around getting filthy and using coarse language after working my regular job all day) and it was done by the weekend despite coming from the KC MO FoMoCo plant which left me with just the wheel bearing to do, easy peasy... so when I got the AC taken care of that shop found a holed transmission line that was discharging into a mostly concealed cavity in a cross member hiding the leakage (it's a Ford so this type of thing isn't a complete surprise) but it was leaking and a little low on fluid and I kinda think a transmission shop could have noticed that while they were noticing the brakes and the bearing and the slip yoke and the CV shafts and the brakes and stuff...

Not only did management not inform me of the damage, they filed a claim with the truckers insurance using my name and information and attempted to pay themselves to repair the damage (valued at over $2,000). I'm currently working with All-State (who recommended this shady shop, and was outraged by the aberrant behavior) and the NC Department of Insurance Fraud division, as this is both Insurance Fraud and Identity theft. They claimed 'new ownership', although the staff and management that I dropped the car off with, was the same as I when I picked it up and it was under Classic Management when the car was picked up. Whatever you do, don't trust these people with your vehicle.

One of my tires had a red dot on it, as it was a new replacement after a flat. It was in the same position as when I drove in. Had an 11:00 am appointment and service took almost a full hour. Came out, signed their paperwork and saw the marked tire. Spoke with service manager Matt and he said they'd do it right away, sorry for my wait and that the tech (Colin Walsh) was an hourly employee and "would not be working there anymore starting Monday". I drove an hour to return to Flow, where I purchased the car in June, thinking perhaps loyalty would matter. I'm only 20 minutes from Modern Hyundai in Concord, so I'll be going there from now on, hoping they don't literally lie to the customer the way Flow did.
