I took my car into Advanced Transmission because I had a small transmission leak, but the transmission was not slipping or making any noise. To my surprise, I was given an estimate of $2800! They claimed the transmission had a bad bearing and that was causing the leak. In order to fix the leak, they would need to remove and overhaul the transmission. I took the car to another mechanic who properly diagnosed and fixed the leak for $200. The reason that the transmission was leaking was there was an axle was defective and it was leaking out of the seal. As a courtesy, I went to Advanced Transmission to let them know that they had misdiagnosed the leak. I talked to a young man in the office and and told him about the misdiagnosis. He became defensive and insisted that it was an "honest" mistake. I asked the young man if after working on the transmission and determining that they had misdiagnosed the problem, would I still be charged $2800? The young man immediately answered "Yes"!!! They are a transmission shop that can't diagnose transmission problems and then charges you for their mistakes.

The technicians are thorough and you receive a detailed report about the condition of your car and anything that needs attention immediately or repairs/maintenance to be aware of that will be needed in the near future. Hayleigh, Eric, and Jamie are courteous, professional, friendly, and communicative. The other staff there are also great (I just don't know them as well yet). Everyone there seems happy to be there and enjoy their work. They are happy to arrange an appointment for you, answer any questions you may have, or give you a ride to or from the shop if you need it. Exceptional customer service!

They are super understaffed and will not fix anything quickly. Just go anywhere else! I personally will never go here again to get my car serviced. I came to get brakes replaced and an oil change. Here's how it went. 1. The cost My brakes ended up being $1,300 which I felt was a bit high for two axels. Plus if I hadn't denied it, they would've charged me $150 to change two air filters (cabin and engine) that both cost $20 at any auto parts store, and can be easily changed at home. 2. The service They're pretty understaffed. I visited on a Friday and they had to hold my car over the weekend. When I got my car back on Monday, the engine sounded odd, I also noticed an oddly high RPM. And my car struggled to drive up hills. They gave me a sticker for the wrong oil grade, which was a red flag. All of the signs I noticed were signs of a mistake during the oil change. I went back in and told them about how my engine was running poorly and they told me they'd take a look. I got a call from the front desk who told me they'd determined that my engine was acting strange but that they had done nothing during the oil change. They quoted me a $650 procedure to fix the issue. I turned it down since it was out of my budget and when I got my car back it was running just fine. Like nothing happened. After a week of driving it daily with issues. Even driving it TO the mechanic that morning with issues. Suddenly fixed when they told me there was no issue. Either the front desk was trying to upcharge me for no reason, or their technician noticed their first mistake and fixed it without telling them, because they said they didn't change a thing and now it runs fine. Seems like they didn't want to admit fault and refund my oil change. That interaction was sketchy - I didn't appreciate them trying to sell me a $650 solve that wasn't the root of the issue.

We agreed that if they looked at it and we're not confident then they should not work on it. When we arrived in the afternoon they said they were able to remove the monitors and move the stems for access. We saw a long stem hanging off one tire, which we had not seen before (it may have been tucked behind). We didn't think that was right but we're not "tire experts." Shortly after we headed out for our first trip after they worked on these stems, and we made it to Binghamton NY where both tires went flat. This happened to be Fathers Day and all roadside service providers wanted to change more than their 2 hour minimum @ approximately $150 per hour. We slept in the CVS parking lot and got service the next day. The issue was the UNSECURED stem had come loose. The roadside service replaced the stem and SECURED the extender. We were able to complete our trip to Bar Harbor and back. Upon our return I reached out to John and sent him the invoice. He said he would review it and get back to me. Three weeks later I had to call him and he said he was on vacation for a week and then just forgot about me. He feels they have done nothing wrong and said they would not have left the stem unsecured. I have a photo of it right after we left their shop. Bottom line is this business will not take ownership for their mistakes.

I was initially told that my car calls for a $1000 alternator, which did not turn out to be the case, and that I got a good "deal" on it. The local Dodge Dealership calls for 1.1 hours labor for the alternator, and .5 hours for the battery, for a total of 1.6 hours labor. The parts (at Autozone) were $175-$250 for an alternator and $180 for a battery. By my estimate, this was a $900 job at the very most! Won't be going back. Update: After posting, I received quotes for the same job, from 2 other locations, and both were under $900!
