my regular guy was inconveniently between shops at the end of summer when the silver truck was…read moredriving poorly. the engine would wind up something fierce but didn't transmit those revolutions to the wheels. sounds like a job for Transmissions Unlimited..! but NOPE! bad slip yoke, bad bearing up front, bad rear CV-axle, sketchy brakes, and the AC compressor is shot - not sure why it was still blowing the coldest of all airs, but it was wrecked none the less and stealing all the power. after assessing the suggested repairs I elected to have them fix the the drive line stuff while I took care of the bearing and made arrangements for the AC - so no cold air during the warmness :-( everything seems to be in good order a month later and I'm mostly okay with that even though it was a little spendier than I expected (not unreasonable since I didn't have to dink around getting filthy and using coarse language after working my regular job all day) and it was done by the weekend despite coming from the KC MO FoMoCo plant which left me with just the wheel bearing to do, easy peasy... so when I got the AC taken care of that shop found a holed transmission line that was discharging into a mostly concealed cavity in a cross member hiding the leakage (it's a Ford so this type of thing isn't a complete surprise) but it was leaking and a little low on fluid and I kinda think a transmission shop could have noticed that while they were noticing the brakes and the bearing and the slip yoke and the CV shafts and the brakes and stuff...

I took my car into Advanced Transmission because I had a small transmission leak, but the transmission was not slipping or making any noise. To my surprise, I was given an estimate of $2800! They claimed the transmission had a bad bearing and that was causing the leak. In order to fix the leak, they would need to remove and overhaul the transmission. I took the car to another mechanic who properly diagnosed and fixed the leak for $200. The reason that the transmission was leaking was there was an axle was defective and it was leaking out of the seal. As a courtesy, I went to Advanced Transmission to let them know that they had misdiagnosed the leak. I talked to a young man in the office and and told him about the misdiagnosis. He became defensive and insisted that it was an "honest" mistake. I asked the young man if after working on the transmission and determining that they had misdiagnosed the problem, would I still be charged $2800? The young man immediately answered "Yes"!!! They are a transmission shop that can't diagnose transmission problems and then charges you for their mistakes.

The…read moredeal sounded great; 3 year transferable warranty, unlimited mileage, and heavy duty rebuild to the V8 specifications rather than the V6 in the truck. Within a 2 month period, I had to return twice for warranty work. A&M had my Explorer the second time for eight weeks. This is not an exotic auto. Are there many vehicles more common than a Ford Explorer? I would call to see when I could expect to have my Explorer returned, leave a message, but not get a call back. When I did get to talk to the shop, I was told, "If I returned phone calls, I wouldn't have time to do my work". I would stop by the shop trying to find out when I could expect my Explorer back and I was told, "I tell you what I tell everyone. It will be done when it is done". I finally just went and bought another vehicle. I sold this one when it was returned, after using Small Claims Court. If you don't care about having calls returned, don't mind living with uncertainty not knowing when your vehicle will be returned, and could live without your personal transportation indefinitely, 8+ weeks in my case, try A&M. They are pretty nice people.

They are super understaffed and will not fix anything quickly. Just go anywhere else! I personally will never go here again to get my car serviced. I came to get brakes replaced and an oil change. Here's how it went. 1. The cost My brakes ended up being $1,300 which I felt was a bit high for two axels. Plus if I hadn't denied it, they would've charged me $150 to change two air filters (cabin and engine) that both cost $20 at any auto parts store, and can be easily changed at home. 2. The service They're pretty understaffed. I visited on a Friday and they had to hold my car over the weekend. When I got my car back on Monday, the engine sounded odd, I also noticed an oddly high RPM. And my car struggled to drive up hills. They gave me a sticker for the wrong oil grade, which was a red flag. All of the signs I noticed were signs of a mistake during the oil change. I went back in and told them about how my engine was running poorly and they told me they'd take a look. I got a call from the front desk who told me they'd determined that my engine was acting strange but that they had done nothing during the oil change. They quoted me a $650 procedure to fix the issue. I turned it down since it was out of my budget and when I got my car back it was running just fine. Like nothing happened. After a week of driving it daily with issues. Even driving it TO the mechanic that morning with issues. Suddenly fixed when they told me there was no issue. Either the front desk was trying to upcharge me for no reason, or their technician noticed their first mistake and fixed it without telling them, because they said they didn't change a thing and now it runs fine. Seems like they didn't want to admit fault and refund my oil change. That interaction was sketchy - I didn't appreciate them trying to sell me a $650 solve that wasn't the root of the issue.

I thought it may be a temporary outage, and I had previously had a good experience here; since they are local, I got in my vehicle and went to the shop. Sign on the door said they take lunch from 12-1- same as myself- so I waited patiently. At 1:05pm, walked to the side and saw someone sitting in the waiting area, so I knocked on the door- no response. Knocked again- was ignored. It's bad enough that there is nowhere to park, and the shop looks like a graveyard of dead vehicles now, but some of us also take a noontime lunch and don't appreciate when businesses ignore them and don't keep to the hours they post (not to mention, apparently don't pay their phone bills). Last repair was A/C - I knew it was a diverter (known) issue and they fixed it quickly and at a very fair price. They have loyal customers who are ALL colors and both sexes. I've met MANY of them while sitting in the waiting room and chatting. Not sure what the intentions of the person writing that review were, but lying to hurt a business for some reason is unethical. Do better.
