My son has been talking a lot more. I love his therapist Ms Erika! One thing that has been a continuous inconvenience is the receptionist. Lucy seems to pick and choose the parents she chooses to be nice too. The reception area seems to always be a mess , the sign in sheet seems always full (the names are not taken off wich is a HIPPA violation), I constantly have to ask for a clean sheet. When I ask for a new sheet she always replies with, " oh I was just waiting for someone to say it's full" as if it is the parents job to remind her of what she needs to be doing. Also, as busy mother it's nice to recieve reminder calls as I would in the beginning . Now it's seems that it has been a slack. I asked once if they where no longer doing confirmation calls or txt to wich she replys they are only courtesy not mandotory the parenIts are responsible for remembering their kiddos appointment and says it in a rude tone. If she was not so busy asking parents to give her not the company but her a good yelp review very unprofessional with something that should be earned not asked for (treating everyone the same). Sitting in the waiting area for an hour noticing how she favors only families that give her attention she wants. The quality and the professionalism that this location offers is amazing. My daughter's speech pathologist was great. Armine is the name of my daughter's speech pathologist. Armine created an environment where my daughter felt safe. My daughter thrived with Armine. Armine would make sure to check in with my daughter to see how she was doing emotionally, and based on my daughter's needs Armine would modify, and accommodate the sessions. Armine introduced us to many educational board games and puzzles. We currently use those puzzles and board games to continue to expand Lyla's vocabulary. We really enjoyed every sessions. Every session was different, and always a learning experience for both my daughter and myself. By observing Armine, during sessions with my daughter I was able to gain more knowledge in how to continue to interact with my daughter, and expand on my daughter's speech. My son has been receiving therapy since January 2021 and is currently still receiving therapy. We are more than happy with our services. He has CDS with Rosana, OT with Kat and Speech with Gigi. Although we've had changes in therapists for OT and Speech, my son always done well with whomever they would set us up with. The therapists and the admin and billing staff (Luci and Dena) have been extremely accommodating in terms of letting me know if there are any changes to scheduling or billing process. I've never ran into issues and have always felt that any concerns I had are always taken care of 100%. My son has improved so much through these services. Going through a pandemic with a child with delays is rough. We are so thankful that we found Speech Source. They are truly a blessing. I recommend them a million times to any parent. I love speech source center! My son was part of their 3:1 program which is designed to help kids with learning disabilities. I brought my son here three days a week for 3 months it was challenging to accommodate my work schedule, but it was worth it. My four-year-old son Elijah was diagnosed with Autism at two years old. He has been attending Speech Source Therapy for over a year and a half now. Irene was amazing with assisting us in starting his services right away. Since the beginning we were very happy with the support and therapy he received! Once the covid-19 pandemic hit my husband and I were worried about how we would continue to get him the help he needed. After discussing it with my husband, we decided to give teletherapy a shot. Speech Source transitioned us into teletherapy via Zoom and we could not have been happier with the decision! Throughout the past five months Elijah's language development has been flourishing! We're constantly hearing him produce more sounds, say more words, and he's even been able to tell me " I love you" a few times. As a parent of a child who was considered nonverbal when diagnosed, those were the most beautiful words I've heard in my life. Elijah enjoys interacting with his therapist, doing the interactive learning videos, and the fun activities his therapist plans for session. Rude receptionist. I called to inquire about their services and whoever was answering phones today was so rude. Please know that during this pandemic, it is not an easy decision to have my child and myself (currently expecting another child) be exposed to an unfamiliar environment, which is why I want to make sure that I find the right therapist/center before signing up for anything, hence my questions and research. In the past, I have dealt with therapy centers that actually had their therapists' bios on their websites. This one did not and so I wanted to learn more about their therapists as well as the center's COVID precautionary measures. If by any chance it is your company policy to not share this type of information then just say so. Don't be rude and hang up abruptly on me. From the beginning of the conversation, I could tell she just wanted to get this call over with. This is basically how the conversation went. Not in exact words but you get the feel of it: Me: I would like to inquire about your speech therapy services. Staff: What insurance do you have? Me: xxxxxxx Staff: Has your child been evaluated? Me: Yes, it was less than a year ago. Staff: Well, if they were evaluated more than a year ago then you will have to get them evaluated again. Me: Like I said, they were evaluated less than a year ago. Staff: You need to submit their evaluation and physician's prescription. Me: Ok, but before that I would like to learn more about the services you provide. Staff: What do you need to know? Me: Well... First, are you providing center-based or home-based? Staff: Center-based. Me: Is your center abiding by all COVID-19 restrictions? Staff: Yes. (gave me basic info on policies related to masks and signing a COVID waiver) Me: I would love to learn about your therapists and their experience/qualifications. Would I be able to see their bios on your website? Staff: No. Me: Ok so can you tell me about your therapists? Staff: They are speech pathologists (and some other basic generic info). Me: So I actually would like to know more about who the therapists are and their qualifications and experience (before we decide to get therapy services outside of our home and sign some COVID waiver). Can you provide their names (so I can maybe look them up)? Staff: (rudely just gives me three first names). Me: Can you give me their last names too? Staff: (rudely) gives me one last name. (only after I ask for others, she provided without spelling out any of them. I asked her to spell two of them for me as they were long or distinct names to me). Me: Ok thanks. (verified the items I needed to submit if interested) Staff: Bye (CLICK. Hung up on me) Me: ...... I don't ever write reviews here on yelp so this is very rare for me to do but I thought it was necessary. These are very tough times for all of us and especially children with special needs. Online therapy is just not an ideal method especially for some children who may have other developmental delays. It is tough to see our children fall behind even more but we also want to make sure our children are safe and healthy. As a parent of a child with special needs (and expecting another child), I want to make sure going out to a center and exposing ourselves to an unfamiliar environment is worth the risk. Was I asking too many questions? I certainly do not think so. Your website says under your mission and philosophy: "To provide our patient's and their families with the highest quality of personalized care in a warm and comfortable environment." "Every patient is treated with personalized care, feels comfortable and welcomed in our office." Perhaps your receptionist didn't get the memo. I truly hope that your other staff and therapists do not have the same attitude when dealing with clients and parents. At least for the sake of our precious children. My review for Little Learners in 4311 Wilshire Blvd...My son has a speech delay and needed to go to a Center based program an early intervention program or a place that can get him ready for school and for him to also learn how to socialize with other kids. This place is not just to get one on one Speech therapy or one on one Occupational therapy it is also a Center based program for little kids ages 18-36 months it has a Preschool setting for little kids. My husband and I wanted a place for my son that is like a Preschool that has a structured curriculum and not just like a daycare, we've looked at the other places and with the other places you just drop off your kid and leave them for four hours it was more of a daycare place and they did not really have a school like setting, although that sounded nice and I would have a break for a few hours we were not ready to leave him in a daycare because he fuzzes a lot sometimes when I change his diaper and I just think it would be difficult for someone else to change him, also he gets frustrated when you can't understand what he wants and will throw himself on the floor or throw a big tantrum. We were about to give up on finding the right place for our son until we went to "Little Learners" Early Intervention Program at 4311 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 200 outside you will probably say is this a Preschool it doesn't look like one but wait till you get inside they are located on the 2nd floor, and it was exactly what my son needs, they had a Preschool like setting, it really looked like a classroom, they have a Structured Curriculum, they had 4 teachers that are also specialist's, one is a Speech therapist, a Child Development Specialist, an Occupational therapist, they also do one on one Speech therapy and one on one Occupational therapy on children if your child needs it. And not just that, just when you think it can't get any better "they let the parents stay in a waiting room where you can watch your kid while he/she is inside the classroom" 'yes mom's you can watch you kid slowly get use to the idea of you not being around all the time and also you can adjust to the fact that someday you would have to let go of your precious one to the real world. But what I like about this place the most is the wonderful staff, from the School Director Ms. Elizabeth Aguirre to the teachers Javier, Marian, Melissa and Marianne they are so nice and so professional and so good and kind to all the kids, I know it sounds too good to be true but it is and I would confidently recommend this place to anyone because I've seen some improvement already with my son since he started going to this school and he just started. He loves going to school, most kids hate going to school but he loves it. If only there was a way to request this school to have more than just three days a week of school and longer hours I would be one of the people who would make a petition letter myself and make every parent I know sign it. read more
