    I was having some tech issues with internet, cable and a landline telephone (yes, I'm old). Today I gathered up all of my dated equipment and headed out to visit Spectrum, ATT & Frontier to see if an in-person visit would work vs calling an 800 number and having any replacement equipment shipped and me dealing with return labels and boxes . Apparently it was my lucky day at Spectrum (but not at the nearby Agua Caliente casino earlier). I entered the store at 5 pm and waited less than 5 minutes. There were four energetic, bright and super helpful staff...all tending to the various customers. But..I think I hit the 'jackpot' with the rep assigned to me. His name was a Steven. He was very knowledgeable and actually listened to my concerns and questions despite my rambling and periodic loss of focus. I have two homes so we took care of replacing two sets of equipment. Without my asking, he marked the various items appropriately AND gave me simple but explicit instructions on what to do when I installed the equipment. I had a great experience...thanks to all the improvements Spectrum has made over the years with regard to customer service AND the awesome human connection I enjoyed with Steven...the ideal employee.

First I tried cancelling online through the chat but was told I had to call. It took over 20 minutes for a rep to answer and towards the end of the call, he indicated there would be a $50 restocking fee. Nowhere did it ever list a restocking fee when I signed up. When I moved here from my previous address, I was able to cancel Spectrum easily without any issues at all. I used to hate Spectrum but compared to Frontier, they are friggin angels.

    I went from wanting to go to Frontier, to never wanting that company in this home…read more I requested internet service and got a fair price. Installation was going to be in one week during an appointment on Friday. On Tuesday of the week, a guy stopped by to get into the backyard and run cable. On Wednesday, at 6:30am, another installer knocked and began digging a ditch for the line. Wasn't even nice about it. On Thursday, yet another unexpected visit from dig alert, but Frontier had already dug a shallow trench. So, he left. On Friday, the day of install, nobody showed up. Nobody called. So, I stayed with my current internet provider. A week later I got a voicemail that they were ready to install. They had zero respect for my time, just dropping in to work without notice. And, they stood me up for the appointment. I wondered if I should reconsider Frontier. UNTIL, once again, Frontier knocks on my door. They literally knocked on the "No Soliciting" sign. I have to buy gates now, it seems.

    UPDATE 07/26/2019 1145…read moreAlphonso (DTV service technician) he's been to my home before and he did a good job then he did a great job now he was very efficient knowledgeable & polite, seems sincerely concerned about my concerns about DirecTV and the direction they're going with customer service did his best to help me in every way we could during his visit. I was seriously thinking of switching to another provider but thanks to him I will stay with DirecTV for now. 07/25/2019 1800 an automated call was received to confirm the appointment even though I done that Monday directly with the technician (thousand palms field office). 07/26/2019 0715-0800 I simply called to confirm the appointment as a technician was supposed to come between 8 and 10 a.m. today I had to make two separate calls during the first call someone who identified himself as red (offshore) have me on the phone nearly a half hour before transferring me to a number that was no longer in service. I didn't called a different number I found online and got a hold of someone named k (offshore) after speaking and waiting about 10 minutes online she did confirm the appointment but said it was between 8 and 12 p.m. not 8 to 10 a.m. there's nothing you can say or do about them other than change service but I doubt the other major provider (dish) is any better, I know for a fact that they are not less expensive as they say.

And second, for being so STUPID for having the account set for auto pay! Stupid aside, I put this account into "vacation mode" on 6/24/25 w/direction from the DIRECTV rep to"Call back when I want to resume service". So, without a call from me, DIRECTV resumed my service 3/21/26 then sent me a bill for $309.83 eating into a credit of $118.82 that set on their books for their use for 9mos leaving a bill of $191.01 that they charged to my Visa unknown to me on 4/27. I discovered this disaster today 5/5 and sat on the phone w/3 Directv reps for 2 hrs trying to reason with them that their rep left it very open ended with... "Call us when you want to resume" but that they aren't willing to honor that rep's arrangement. And the kicker is.....their equipment doesn't even work! My husband tried it and it's DEAD IN THE WATER! So, even if we had wanted to resume service, there isn't a way to do so with their non-working equipment. I am LIVID! DIRECTV STOLE OUR $118.82 CREDIT BALANCE! PLUS REINSTATED UNWANTED/UNASKED FOR SERVICE AT $165.+/mo! PLUS TELLING ME THAT THEY "SENT A LETTER OR EMAIL (though which they don't know) STATING THEY WERE RESUMING SERVICE". No, they did NOT! PLUS LEFT US WITH NON-WORKING JUNK TELLING ME IT IS "MY PROBLEM TO GET RID OF IN WHATEVER WAY I SEE FIT......SMASHING IT WITH A SLEDGE HAMMER IF I CHOOSE TO DO SO" per JOY -supervisor. WHAT A TERRIBLE OVER-PRICED COMPANY THAT ALLOWS THEIR PEOPLE TO MISREPRESENT AND TELL LIES! The "funny" thing to me is....had I called up and asked for "CUSTOMER RETENTION DEPT" under the guise of wishing to continue service for a monthly cost reduction, they would've happily done that yet JOY a supervisor claimed she had "no power to reduce or waive that unanticipated charge". Such FALSEHOOD! So, what I get out of doing business with DIRECTV is a whole lot of Nothing but FRUSTRATION! What DIRECTV gets is my frustration put in print for all would-be or present DIRECTV customers to reflect upon because you, too may find yourself at the short end of their pointed stick! Please BEWARE OF DIRECTV! They are probably the worst company I have encountered in a long time! I ONLY WISH I COULD LEAVE A NEGATIVE STAR RATING FOR THEM AS ONE IS WAAAAAAY TOO GOOD!
