    Mid-Hudson Cablevision - Mid-Hudson Fiber

Tried really hard to be understanding with them, but this is one of those experiences that I've…read moresincerely never dealt with before. I've had Mid-Hudson for six months, with their "high triple speed" package for wifi even though it's only for the house that only I live in. Therefore there are only two devices (phone and laptop) that id need to be connected, and yet, on numerous occasions, it's obviously too much to ask for. For the past six months I've experienced the worst "spotty service" I'd ever dealt with. But hey, I thought since I'm new to a small town, maybe it's just a thing to get used to. But 8 nights I've had a paper due online for school the next morning, and the wifi will suddenly be down for a solid day. And guess what? Their "call 24" rings hours on end with no answer. Even when the wifi is working, at "triple speeds", with just my phone connected in the same room, I can't ever connect to FaceTime or wifi calling. But I can at McDonald's wifi. I recently visited family across the coast, and disconnected my service to save some cash. They said it could be turned on right when I came back with no issue. Turns out I came home, and got hit with a $50+ reactivation fee, and a 10 day wait for the guy to reinstall it. But the day I left, without my consent, they had no problem coming here and disconnecting the wiring from my house in one days notice. On the scheduled day to have it reactivated, I took off work so I could let them in. The window time was 11am-4pm. I called the day before to confirm. I called at 11am the day of to confirm they'd come that day. Waited all day, called at 3:30, and they assured me someone would come. I call at 4:30pm, was put on hold, then they told me the scheduled date was for the next day. They said that it was my error, and "why didn't you call to confirm?" To make matters worse, whenever I reach someone to speak with, horrible service. No "thank you's" or even any fake sympathy for these last 6 months. I don't typically dwell, or get angry in this situation, but I hate that they speak to me like I'm stupid for thinking they can fix anything. I'm not here to say not to have Mid-Hudson, just extending my experiences. Why two stars? Bad internet is better than no internet, I suppose.

Installation services are dismal. Waiting two months for them to bury the cable and now they say I…read morehave to wait until spring! Plus, they don't even take complaints and there isn't a customer service department. They just try to upsell you to fiber.

Had their service for several years and the overall reliability is good. If you are a casual user…read morewho just wants to browse the internet or stream YouTube and Netflix then it will work. However, their packages and speeds are seriously limited and outdated. As a heavy user of download and upload $110 a month for only 100 download by 10 upload is seriously disappointing. Had Spectrum been allowed into the area I would have switched long ago, solely due to the fact that they offer more robust packages like 400 down by 20 up for $85/mo and even up to 940 down by 40 up, for $110/mo. As time goes forward more smart devices that use bandwidth are being connected and 100/10 just doesn't cut it for powerhouse users. The most frustrating part is even their business lines offer only up to 125 download for a base price of $195 before taxes and fees, and NO increase in upload at all which is disheartening. Some people in the area want more out of a local ISP and they can't offer what we need, especially as some of us work from home and need more throughput without the fear of bottlenecking or dropping. This is honestly a reason that I have considered leaving the area, because I can't get what I need out of them. I will say that when the service goes out it can be a bit of a hassle trying to get your issue fixed. If you call after office hours you are outsourced to a call center which typically results in having to call back again during office hours to get a tech scheduled and then come out to look at your problem. However, if you call during office hours depending on how severe the issue is you may be able to get a tech out same day. Just be sure to know specifically what is going on and what issue you are having otherwise the diagnosis may take a while. Everyone that works at the company is a pleasure to talk to, and is very helpful but it definitely has that small-town company feel to it so some restrictions will definitely be in place. If you don't do a lot of file sharing on line and just want to do basic browsing and some video services then you should be fine.

Thank you Spectrum for the great customer service. Sarcasm. After a 4 hour plus outage on Saturday,…read moreyes I understand the weather. You now are required to call and ask for a credit. They know whom was out but instead of doing it automatically, they have you now call on another day and get frustrated getting to the first human....yes human to help . This takes 20 min, the first human puts you on hold for five ....yes another 5 min. He asks how can I help you, but then finds out the first person processed the credit, just never came back to tell us. Apologizes for the inconvenience, and informed us we are greatfully refunded the $2.50 we have coming. Makes you feel on warm and fuzzy.... FYI...they only gaurentee 70% of there service which I find sad

I hear a lot of people complaining about Spectrum (Time Warner Cable) but I don't get it. I've been…read moreusing them for over 20 years and they have always been prompt, courteous, efficient and all-around good service providers. I've called their phone service line numerous times and with a single exception have always gotten good service. The one unsatisfactory call was with a young lady who probably should have been off serving fries somewhere, but given that I've interacted with them probably 15 times or more, that's not a bad average. I've had to have their service guys out to the house several times (for example, when a squirrel chewed a hole in my cable) and they've always been professional, polite, and very competent. NOW ... if you want to seriously complain about their PRICES, I'm with you all the way. They jack it up every year and of course like all such cable service providers they make you pay for a bunch of channels that you'd much rather do without.
