The system is the worst. It's unreliable, slow, lacks features, and is full of bugs. We just got AT&T in our area, but it's with the slower Internet connection (i.e. not the gigabit connection).
That being said it appears most of the problems with the spectrum system are software related. And, ironically, Spectrum has set up a web site to get feedback from their customers. And the site is USELESS.

It's been up for TWO MONTHS. And it's mostly empty. They have three main sections: Activities, Newsletters, and FAQs. Only the FAQs has content. I could write a novel on what they could do to improve their system.
The first step would be to hire someone with vision and guts. The second step would be to hire someone who can put in the kind of system that would shame the competition. The sad part is that they HAVE the hardware. With their infrastructure they could provide services and features that no one could match.
Suggestions
=========
Clean up the interface, it's impossible to find what you like. Look at Netflix. It runs on cheap hardware, and does a good job. You can also do things like alpha blend pop up content. Provide more UI real estate. And, if you don't think your average user wants that (i.e. the 80/20 rule) then let the user decide.
Video on demand. Let me filter and sort titles. Or use other user's ratings, movie critic ratings, parental ratings, date released, date added, etc. Also learn what I watch and suggest titles I might like (e.g. Netflix again).
The DVR could be more helpful. At a MINIMUM when I use the recording manager and the content changes time (e.g. a Football game ran long) then UPDATE THE RECORDING TIME. And what about letting me adjust how the DVR works. For example does it have to come out of pause, switch to a commercial and begin screaming after 5 minutes because I had to answer the phone?
Metadata on content. Sometimes I want to read about a movie or series. Can't you tie in IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, etc. or hire some people to put up some information about the content? At least the YEAR it was released. Any awards? Tie ins with other content? Anything.
Games. The system has the hardware, you could add a couple of public domain games when you get bored or you just want to do something different. Look at Roku. Your box has the hardware to play chess (against an AI or human), Tetris, Trivia, etc. and if no one uses it what's the harm? You could fill it up with PD content. This might not be practical but you get the point.
Shopping. What about letting me order pizza through the TV. Or find out about a product when I see it in a commercial. You'd think the vendors would pay YOU to provide that service to us.
What about video teleconferencing? Adding a social aspect to the system? Watching a movie with a friend (virtually). It doesn't have to be Rocky Horror night ... but at least TRY something new.
OK, enough. This company has done nothing over the years but remove features and add bugs. Sad. read more
