Spectrum sucks! I currently live in apt community. This communities Mgmt company decided to sign a year contract and forced residents to get rid of what they had personally because wether you wanted it or not you were getting charged 60.00 in your Rent regardless. We have to unplug our TVs at night so we can watch them without constant buffering and leaving what you were watching all by itself. Spectrum is just so bad. Don't bother even at their rates it not worth. I'm at Crosstown @ chapel Hill and our Mgmt Co is Brookfield. read more

I currently reside in Chapel Hill, NC. I live at Crosstown at Chapel Hill. After being here for 6 years, the new property managers Brookfield Properties has made it that we have to pay $65 a month for Spectrum WiFi whether we use it or not. We have lost service many times. Just in the last three(3) days our WiFi service has gone out twelve(12) times, for approximately five(5) minutes at a time. Try watching a show and losing five(5) minutes of the show. Their service sucks and I'm paying more for WiFi now than I was before with the service I had. I really want to go back to Verizon. read more

The first week of October we stopped into the Spectrum store in New Hope Commons and we were assisted by Lanitra Moton. We had questions about our new service and at that time we also decided to switch over 2 cell phones from AT&T to Spectrum due to the price point. So far, the phone service has been excellent although we do live within the city limits of Durham. The TV service has been about 95% OK, so I would like to thank Lanitra for her in store service and EXavier the technician who came to the house to work on the cable. read more

First, I very rarely leave one-star reviews. I visited this Spectrum store twice in three days and both visits were a waste of time. All I wanted to do was return equipment, but this store wasn't accepting any equipment. Instead, during both visits, I was directed to The UPS Store across the street. The UPS Store across the street was closed during both of my visits to this Spectrum store. I was, however, able to make it to a different location of The UPS Store than the one this Spectrum store recommended. It's The UPS Store off I-40 exit 276 on Fayetteville Rd: https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-ups-store-durham-5. I made it to that UPS Store just before they closed. The employee there asked me, "Spectrum sent you all the way over here?" You can return Spectrum equipment at any UPS Store. They pack and ship it for you. I received both a physical and emailed return receipt. I changed our Spectrum plan at home. As a result, there was some equipment we no longer needed. The Spectrum agent that helped me change our plan (over the phone) told me to return the unneeded equipment within 14 business days to my local Spectrum store. The "Local Spectrum Store" listed on the bottom of our monthly Spectrum bill is this one at 5446-A New Hope Commons Dr, Space 11, Durham, NC 27707. My first visit was on a Sunday. As soon as we entered and an employee saw we had equipment in-hand, he told us their systems were down and to go to The UPS Store across the street. Since that UPS Store was closed, I decided to wait a couple days and return to this Spectrum store when their systems were back up. I returned the following Tuesday. A different employee did the same thing to me except he didn't tell me that their systems were down. He didn't give me a reason why they weren't accepting equipment returns. All he said was they didn't accept equipment returns and to go to The UPS Store across the street instead, except they had already closed for the day. It shouldn't have been that complicated. I should be able to return Spectrum equipment at a Spectrum store, especially since a Spectrum agent told me that is what I had to do, and this specific store is listed on my bill. Come on, man. What's with the runaround? I've been a Spectrum internet and TV customer in the Chapel Hill-Durham area since June 2020. I've also been an Xfinity internet and TV customer in Atlanta since the early 2000s. To Spectrum's credit, until now, Xfinity was definitely the better value. After changing my plan, Spectrum *may* now be the better value. About every year since forever, I've had to play the game with these cable companies to find promos, discounts, bundles, etc. to not get gouged on my monthly bills. After communicating with, I kid not, five different Spectrum agents in a single day, I was able to get our monthly bill down from $211.62 per month to $121.18 per month. I only had to pay the $211.62 price once. It occurred in the month after our last promo expired. Before, we had been rolling along at about $191.29 per month. The $121.18 per month is good for 12 months only. With Xfinity in Atlanta, I've been rolling along at $178.67 per month with faster internet (Xfinity gig-speed vs. Spectrum "Internet Ultra" 500 Mbps) and more live and on-demand TV and movie content (e.g., Peacock Premium included). The reasons I was able to get our Spectrum bill down are: 1. I asked to speak with the cancellation department. They can find more and better ways to save you money than the regular billing department can, but you have to request to speak to them. 2. I dropped our Spectrum TV Select plan, which was $84.99 per month, and replaced it with the Spectrum TV Choice 15 plan, which is $__.__ per month. The Choice 15 plan is great because my wife and I can pick which 15 channels we want. We can also swap channels into and out of the plan. Most people don't watch most of the dozens or hundreds of channels they get. That system was/is outdated. 3. I dropped our Spectrum Receiver, a.k.a. the "HD box," which was $10.99 per month. This was the equipment I returned (plus the remote control that went with it). Instead of using the HD box, I just stream TV using the Spectrum TV or mobile app or https://watch.spectrum.net/livetv on a computer or tablet. With Xfinity, we still have a box and remote with various features (e.g., X1 platform, voice activation, DVR, apps) and again, more channels and content than Spectrum. This is why above I said, "Spectrum *may* now be the better value." We're currently paying more for Xfinity, but we also get more. My tune may change when my next promo(s) with Xfinity expire. Cable plans and packages constantly change. You need to stay on your toes to make sure you're getting the best deal and not getting ripped off by these monopolies. read more

I walked in without an appointment. After the appointment crowd thinned out, several counter spaces staffed by employees seemed to deliberately slow down and made the remaining 7 of us wait to be called. A lot of talk took place among employees for several minutes, none of it actually helping the remaining customers, ( ones without an appointment). When I finally got my turn, guess what?...the offered me a price reduction. I refused. I'm tired of my Spectrum bill CONTINUALLY going up and up and up! It's highway robbery on a routine basis and it never stops. Get an introductory rate? Steel yourself because after that ends the rate hikes are coming. Remember, this is the company that charges for a WIFI signal. Next thing you know, they'll figure out how to charge you for just minutes of use. I am relieved to not be UNDER THEIR THUMB ANYMORE. I will do without if I have to....because I'll NEVER return to them for ANYTHING! read more

Spectrum - Internet Service Providers Near Me - Durham, North Carolina

This review applies to my Spectrum SERVICE VISIT & TECHNICIAN today in my 27713 neighborhood: While I usually receive what I consider to be satisfactory Service visits from Spectrum technicians, the service that I received from my technician today--Leonidas--is undoubtedly the most comprehensive that I can recall (Note that my original service request was simply to restore consistent landline Voice/phone service to our home, which would likely involve upgrading our older Voice modem with a newer unit). Yes, my modem did need to be replaced, but only after Leonidas first insured that the cable service that fed my phones was up to par... which he did in a thorough, step-wise manner (see below). Then, after addressing our original phone issue, he went the extra mile by insuring that our TV & Internet services were up to par, as well. Here is a summary of his methodical approach to our job: * He first checked for adequate signal-delivery at the Spectrum tower in the easement at the front of our property, and replaced some connection hardware to enhance our service signal. * Then, he checked the signal integrity at the cable junction box attached to our house... where he again replaced some connection hardware. * Then, he moved to our interior, whole-house Media control center, where he repaired our phone issue (inconsistent dial tone)... by both replacing our modem AND re-configuring the modem's connection into our Media panel via its proper input. * Then, I asked how I could access certain on-screen program info for two of my TVs via my Spectrum remote control units. He not only demonstrated how to do it, but also replaced the wall unit cable connection hardware for one of my TVs (plus, advised me to remove a splitter that I had been incorrectly using, which could well have been creating interference in my service connections). * Finally, in running some meter checks of my Internet performance, he discovered that those signals were not up to par. So, after methodically insuring that I had reliable connections at both my personal modem & its cable connection at the wall unit, he discovered that my personal modem was defective... thus requiring replacement with a new Spectrum unit (in addressing the wall unit connectivity, he also had to work in a very confined work space). In summary, Leonidas not only competently remedied our landline phone service, but proceeded to insure that our other two services (TV & Internet) were also functioning at acceptable levels. He ended up spending 2.5 hours on our job, and left us with what I anticipate will be the best condition that our Triple-play services have been in for a very long time. Thus, I wish to salute his work ethic, initiative & competency, and hope that his superiors will do the same. While I consider our Spectrum Triple-play subscription to be relatively expensive, their home Service has generally been fine, highlighted by my technician's outstanding performance today. read more

Spectrum SUCKS BIG TIME! I canceled my subscription to go with Frontier. I had already paid for the month of July 2025 was due a partial refund. Since then they are telling me I'm using their services but I no longer have their services, I was told to return the devices by August 2025 but they're still charging me. Do not use them. In May of 2023 we verbally cancelled all tv service and only wanted internet and were assured that it was cancelled. We were told where to turn in the box and they did receive it. We never got a statement and they have been charging us $31 a month for something we don't even have a box to use. Tried getting on to see account and they had email address wrong, phone number wrong and they said fixed it but went right back to same way. They are not even listening to us. They got the box, why would we keep tv with no box. It is just a way for them to screw over people on social security and don't know how to use their website. read more

Spectrum internet is worse than the dial-up connections I had on AOL in the '90s. Seriously, that was more reliable than this service. I'll try to do something that needs to access an online server, and get the message "You're not connected to the internet." I look at the status on the iPad's menu, and, actually, I AM connected. I have learned that if I run the SpeedTest app, this usually allows other information to piggyback on the testing connection, because they want their numbers to look good. (This is like VW and DieselGate. They're just giving good service when speed testing is happening.) The initial price was OK, but it's now at the standard rate, and not worth the price, but I have no option other than a wireless connection. I'm looking into business-class internet from a different provider, since the residential service is locked in to Spectrum. Google Fibre can't arrive fast enough for me, and I HATE Google! They recently came out and updated the connections to my house, but the speed of the service is still slow, still loses connectivity, and still requires me to hide usage as testing in order to get even mediocre results. read more

Customer Service was fine - however the check-in process is a bit of a mess that needs some work by the store owners. It was my first visit, I didn't know you have to check in. I overheard another customer in line mention it then I followed someone else to the check-in computer who wasn't aware either. The person ahead of me had to check in because the payment kiosk wasn't working and she was struggling to get checked in. When it was my turn to check in the computer screen wasn't working correctly (it wasn't responding to touch completely), so what should have been a 30-second process ended up taking a few minutes to complete. Other than that, things went ok. I also liked that when I had to leave and come back in a few minutes because I wasn't added as an auth user on the account (yet) that I didn't have to re-do the check-in process once I was added onto the account. read more

Spectrum is the worst provider I've ever had. Every year I am signed up for services I never asked for, and this year I was charged almost 200 dollars a month for 2 months because they were charging me for two separate internet bills. I despise Spectrum, the only reason I use it is because I have no other choice. Spectrum has lied to me twice now, when I ask them to cancel my service. They say that they are canceling it, and then they don't. The second customer service person promised me a confirmation email cancelation with in 15min. No email. They also fail delete the balance on my account, caused by them not canceling service. They intentionally lie and don't cancel customer's service to try to squeeze every last dollar out of people. Spectrum is taking advantage of under privileged people who don't have the bandwidth or time to sit on the phone with customer service. I dread having to call for a 3rd time. Beware Spectrum billing policies created to price gouge regardless of your best efforts to reduce your bill. Their Rep told me my only recourse to a $14/month rate increase was to cancel tv service.
