Outside. Storefront. Entrance. These guys have been around since 1959.
    Daniel B.

We moved into our two-bedroom apartment in Chapel Hill on June 8th. I immediately noticed some foggy windows. This is a common problem with cheap and/or old windows. The seals fail, condensation builds, and what not. I reported this to the apartment complex's maintenance team, same day, and they got in touch with their go-to window company, Rice's Glass, headquartered in nearby Carrboro. This is a family owned and operated business that's been around since 1959. If they've been in business this long, they must be doing something right. On June 26th, 18 days later, I happened to be home when Tommy of Rice's Glass knocked on our door. He was a polite, soft-spoken, older gentleman. He was courteous and wore a mask. Several contractors who have walked into and out of our apartment in recent weeks haven't worn masks, but Tommy did. I showed Tommy the windows I wanted replaced. He stuck little round stickers that said "Rice's Glass" on those windows. He also took measurements. He was very quick and efficient and knew exactly what to do. He said they'd have to order the windows and it would probably be a couple weeks. Well, they ended up replacing the windows on July 7th, 11 days later. Neither my wife nor I were home and we never received notice from Rice's Glass nor our apartment complex that they'd be coming on that day (nor did we receive notice of their initial visit on June 26th). While it wasn't a big deal and ultimately didn't bother us, it would have been nice if we were given a heads up of when Rice's Glass was visiting. My wife returned home from work on the 7th and noticed that the door to my home office, which she had shut completely, was ajar. It startled her. When she looked in my home office, she noticed some windows had been replaced. The new windows look great. They're brand new and crystal clear. They make our home look that much nicer. We love opening our blinds during the day and letting natural light in, so high quality windows are important to us and these were just that. In the end, Rice's Glass did a great job and we are very happy with the result. If you're looking for a good glass/window company in the Triangle area, you should certainly consider Rice's Glass.

Someone accidentally broke our office window today when mowing the yard. Rice's Glass was SUPER responsive and was able to come quickly and replace the window in less then 5 hours! Grateful we didn't have to worry about boarding up the window for security over night!

lower middle window like new...after Rice's replaced the glass! :)

All these concerns and more. I'm a detail oriented guy that can find fault with just about everything, I know, not healthy. BUT, let me tell you while giving major praise and satisfaction thanks to Todd, the owner of Windows, Doors & More. His crew showed up 30 minutes prior to start time every day! I say "crew" BUT, these guys were true Craftsman and I mean Craftsman. The Team, Steve, Jacob, Ian, and Bill worked together like a fine tuned machine. A look and a nod in the place of words. WOW. Their personalities made it actually nice to have them around and working on my home. If you have a question, they stop what their doing, follow you, and listen intently with a true response. They even took extra care to help me and be certain my wood blinds would fit the new windows. Extra trim required, Not a problem. I look at these windows and completed installation with pleasing amazement. I'm not kidding, everything looks and operates beautifully. For a guy that's hard to please, I couldn't be happier. Also, their pricing is more than competitive and their products are top rated when you do the investigation. I addition, the painted commented that the woodwork was done and nailed the way it's supposed to be done unlike other work he has seen. Hats off to Todd and his team. Even now I look at these windows and smile in satisfaction. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I highly recommend Todd's company. Their price was very competitive, not even close to the most expensive, but certainly not the cheapest. Buy once, cry once. One of the window companies he represents was the only one we found (we looked at many) that offered colored vinyl extrusions where we could have white on the inside and a tan color outside (never needs to be painted, even if surface is scratched). Lifetime warranty too! We recently hired him and his team for more work, replacing the screens with windows on our screened porch (no more cleaning up pine pollen). We had them add a custom bar top along the window sills. It looks great and is a wonderful way to enjoy the view of our back yard, even if it is raining or in the winter. Call him, you will be happy you did.

He gave my husband and me the gift of the installation of a custom fold-down cutting board where a rickety fold-down ironing board used to be. This, of course, was totally his idea because he's creative like that. The cutting board is beautiful, solid, and functional, adding 30% more surface area to our kitchen. It's far superior to the ironing board that was there previously. He used top notch parts, sourced from specialty cabinet makers, to construct it. Ian was also timely and cleaned up after himself. I would feel confident hiring Ian for bigger projects, as I have seen him helping his former employer (my Dad) build bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and more. Sure, I may be his sister, but I'm his older sister and thus prone to harsh judgement... so you know you can trust my review, and Ian with all of your handyman needs.

We took the ride out to Cary to get a sense of the actual door, the finish we wanted, along with available options. Their sales specialist, David Boyd, was extremely helpful explaining the product line and Kelly's business model. David came out to the house and helped us find a door that fit our budget without sacrificing the look and features like glass we wanted. He took the measurements and explained the process from the point of sale to completion of installation. He walked us through the ProVia product warranty. We did our homework and got two more quotes, but Kelly was the clear winner in pricing and the fact that they are the only 'Platinum' ProVia dealer in the Triangle. Best of all? No franchise pricing games like the other two estimates. Their quote was transparent and actually more affordable than the 'big name' companies. While the price was more affordable, we looked at each company in totality. We highly recommend Kelly Window and Door, Inc. a high-quality experience!

My main complaint, the sales person promised the crews would be clean and put tarps down to catch 100% of the debris, and we wouldn't even be able to tell they'd been here. Now we're four months past the install and we are still picking up bits of shingle, tar paper, plastic, and most egregiously, ROOFING NAILS in the yard nearly every SINGLE time we do yard work. In the first two weeks we picked up over a hundred nails from the yard and DRIVEWAY (come on, now!). We seriously found two more yesterday and two more today. It's NEVER ENDING. With the sales guy's suggestion we had them put in wide mouth gutter drains to help with the constant gutter clogging problems -- so what do they do? First they installed them wrong (oversized drains with standard drain holes does no good), so I printed out and handed the project manager installation instructions from the manufacturer. They came back out to redo it, but contrary to those instructions they used a ton of caulk, and also put caulk on every joint. Guess what gutter debris does when it hits a caulk. We also had them do some siding repair and had to be extremely specific about what we wanted them to do vs asking "replace anything that's rotting" which I would expect to be a reasonable request. I expected SO much more from a family company this old and established. Sadly, NOT recommended.
