The Computer Dept said that they would, for $160 plus tax (I double-checked the price with 'P'), wipe the computer clean, save my documents, and that "it would be like a new computer." Upon delivery they charged me $256, adding on travel time and answerIng questions no one had previously mentioned. What they apparently didn't know is that the Apple Apps that I had used to access my documents are no longer available, even though it was the EXACT same operating system and computer I had. So it is basically useless to me. Why didn't they know that? While they offered to try to get those apps, they found only one of three and it has issues. The fonts are messed up, so when it prints, it's all distorted. I have no access to my accounting and spreadsheets data, nor my art. I do appreciate that at least one person was trying, maybe more to get the apps, but they couldn't. Yet one would think they would have either known that or tested it before delivery. I think there's even possibly a way they could've added those apps from another computer at their store. Not sure. Instead, they actually blamed it on my system. I am not happy to say the least, but they became contentious telling me that my computer was already useless when hacked and that I needed to buy a new one!! I thought I was getting one as good as new. If they believe that, they should never have taken my money. When I spoke up they said they were "ending their professional relationship with me." I certainly didn't see it professional to not take responsibility if a service renders a computer's files inaccessible. What I HAVE is a (hopefully) clean computer with Internet (which my iPad has), ability to open, access but not print documents, no access to important accounting or slideshows. What I DO NOT HAVE is money to buy a new computer. Professionals with ethics would say, "We didn't know this was going to be a problem. We take full responsibility and will refund your money since we did not deliver a usable computer as promised." Instead, they're not responding. I don't know if their Macintosh knowledge is not very good, but in any regard, they should have found a way to either deliver a workable "good as new" computer as promised or refund my money. Maybe you were lucky and got what you needed from this company. But if you have problems, apparently you can forget them taking responsibility, responsive customer service, or compensation for their errors. And absolutely without doubt this was their error.

He was perfectly willing to install a system if I could find what he had stocked cheaper online, which I did only because it was Black Friday. He explained everything I would potentially need and the price for each item so there wouldn't be any surprises. He was willing to text back and forth with me and weigh in on a system I found online to make sure it fit all the specs. I finally brought the system and my car in about 8 months later without an appointment. He again gave me quotes for different scenarios, let me know I might need other components since I have an older model vehicle. I have two speakers that need replacing (slight scratchiness). He quoted me for speakers and offered a discount. I agreed to do the speakers only if I didn't need the additional component. He installed the system immediately, was done in under an hour, and did not install the additional component because it was not needed. He also knew I was waffling on spending on the speakers, so he did not install them because he said they still had some life left in them. He could easily have made several more hundred dollars. I brought the car back a couple of days later because my Siri's voice on Maps would cut off just slightly before directions were finished. I was confident this was not an issue with the installation, but with my phone or they system. Oscar did not hesitate to do a few experiments and even agreed to ride around the neighborhood to see what happens. He patiently took the time to teach me how to navigate the system and my phone, which he did not have to do. I offered to buy him a pastry or drink from El Superior for his attentiveness and time helping me out, but he didn't take me up on it. (Bonus! El Superior is two doors down and you can go there for lunch or an awesome dessert while you wait). Oscar's English may sometimes be a little hard to understand, but he was always willing to repeat himself if I asked. He has a helper named Alex, who was very communicative, helpful and willing to provide additional explanations or clarifications when I needed it. And so I find myself flailing the day before an event without a) a giant cardboard cow cut-out -- or in this case b) a video projector. Panicked, I started pulling up Google searches to see where I could rent one same-day but most of the places I found were parts of larger organizations that weren't locally based and didn't offer same-day delivery. Enter Custom Light & Sound. I phoned them up and spoke with Matt -- sounded youngish, and maybe a little green. Asked me all the right questions though -- how big and how dark is the space, how many people are attending. After he took down my info and told me to pick it up before noon, I had to finally ask him how much it was and what the product was. Turns out, he'd picked something out for me based on my needs that wasn't featured on their website. So, whereas I'd thought the costs for their projectors ranged from $100-200, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my not-on-the-website projector was only $85! I went to pick it up and met Lee at the register. The first words out of his mouth were "21" which is an odd thing to say to someone you've just met. I looked inquisitively at my husband and then back at him. And he expounded: "We only rent to 21 and up." Good Lord, I'm pushing 30. But whatever. Turns out he's best friends with my husband's former college roommate -- so it's okay that he bruised my ego. They called Wayne to come out and check on the equipment before handing it off to me. He was a bit gruff, but did look through everything and assure us it had all the required cables, etc. The credit card machine wasn't working at pick-up so Lee gave us the okay to take it with the promise that we'll pay when we return it. Equipment ran great and interactions with the folks here was overall a positive experience. And don't be fooled by the cramped-looking exterior. Once you enter this little treasure trove, you'll discover it runs deep and is packed to the gills with audio and lighting goodies, plus fun accessories like disco balls and fog machines!
