I am extremely disappointed with the level of customer service I received from Spectrum. What should have been a simple billing issue turned into an exhausting and frustrating experience that highlighted a company culture seemingly more focused on sales than on supporting existing customers. I had Auto Pay enabled on my account with the expectation that my monthly payment would be processed automatically. Instead, the payment was not processed, my account became past due, and my internet service was interrupted. As someone who relies on a stable internet connection for both work and daily life, this disruption was more than a minor inconvenience--it was entirely avoidable. Rather than taking ownership of the issue or offering a meaningful explanation, I was forced to spend my own time contacting customer support and making a past-due payment simply to restore a service that should never have been disconnected in the first place. What made the experience even worse was the customer service itself. Instead of actively listening, investigating the problem, or attempting to resolve my concerns, nearly every interaction felt like an opportunity to market additional products and services that I neither needed nor requested. It is astonishing that a company would prioritize upselling customers while failing to address the very reason those customers are calling. When someone's internet has been disconnected because of a billing issue, the last thing they want is a sales pitch. The representatives I spoke with appeared far more interested in following scripted promotions than exercising critical thinking or demonstrating genuine customer care. There was little accountability, no sense of urgency, and no effort to rebuild confidence in the company. A quality customer service organization should focus on resolving issues efficiently, communicating transparently, and ensuring that customers feel heard and valued. Unfortunately, my experience reflected the opposite. Trust is one of the most important aspects of any service provider, especially one that supplies something as essential as internet access. Auto Pay is intended to provide convenience and peace of mind. When that system fails, customers reasonably expect the company to investigate the problem, accept responsibility if appropriate, and make a sincere effort to correct the situation. Instead, I was left without service, inconvenienced, and treated more like a sales opportunity than a loyal customer. This experience has significantly diminished my confidence in Spectrum. Customer retention is not achieved through aggressive upselling or scripted interactions; it is earned through accountability, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to solving problems. Until Spectrum prioritizes customer service over sales quotas and begins treating existing customers with the respect they deserve, I cannot recommend their services to anyone. I recently cancelled my internet service due to a fee increase. I called multiple times to negotiate but was told there were no options available. Today, I went to the Spectrum store in Downey, CA, to return my equipment, and unfortunately, the in-person experience was even worse. The customer service staff were extremely unprofessional and lacked basic customer service etiquette. Their tone and attitude were disrespectful and dismissive -- it felt like they were speaking to friends rather than customers. This behavior is completely unacceptable from a company of Spectrum's size. Because of this experience, I will not be returning as a Spectrum customer and will be sharing my experience to help others make informed decisions. What's worse, their customer service is consistently unprofessional. I was lured in with a promotional rate, which soon disappeared, and my bill inexplicably increased each month. Despite canceling my internet service, Spectrum continues to charge me, adding insult to injury. Dealing with their billing department has been a nightmare, with long wait times and unhelpful representatives. Overall, Spectrum's unreliable service, unprofessional conduct, and deceptive billing practices make them a company I cannot recommend.
