Pancho on top of mission peak

After 3 months of raising my Dutch-Mal pup and narrowing down the schools/trainers throughout the entire Bay Area I decided to go with Spectrum Canine. Rick and the rest of the staff are very professional, knowledgeable and transparent and I knew from the day of our assessment that I was making the right decision. Day1. Rick shows up to my house and gives me and my family a demo of the kind of work he puts into these dogs and was blown away!! We carefully constructed a pyramid of my needs and wants for (Pancho) and I will tell you this, I have family and friends that have their dogs in training in various schools and my dog has learned in 1 day what most are still struggling to learn or just have not learned. My recall with my now 9month old pup is on point and always feel confident wherever I go. I have had to cancel or change a session a few times and they have done nothing but be flexible and understanding with me. I highly recommend going with Spectrum K9 to any dog owner that really wants results and confidence In themselves and their dog.

I had the same experience as Jennifer Except the brother part and I paid for a 2 month immersion program minus my military discount. Unbelievable horrible customer service. I asked a question and was booted, tried to apologize and call and email after 4 days of trying I was blocked from calling them. My question was exactly the same as my initial request. If it wasn't good then why take my 100 dollars and waste my time with a consultation! Which says free on the web site. Weeks were wasted. Their contract seemed very scarce. I thought what the heck I'll go ahead and sign for $8,000 after I ask a question about any type of follow up or warranty of their work. If I'm gonna spend $8,000 I should get to ask a question at least. They terminated us with nothing but a generic text then went ghost. Then blocked me from calling. Lol an about Erika worst customer service by miles I'm surprised their still in business. Guess they only want to train well mannered dogs. SMH to much ego for me as well.

Proof that I 'expressed doubt' only once and was dropped. Ricky's reply said numerous times. One time and I was booted out.

When I was looking for a trainer for my reactive puppy, I got two recommendations from a respectable business. Ricky at Spectrum Canine was one of them and after reading reviews online, I decided to find out further information. I scheduled a phone consultation, and after a couple of times of not being called back or being told hours of when to expect a call and not getting one, we finally spoke and I liked what I heard. I decided to set up an evaluation. I was told it would be $100 for one hour. I drove all the way out to meet him at a place of his choosing (for me, it was a three hour round-trip) because I truly thought that he was one of the best trainers out there. (Perhaps he is, but his professionalism and his assistant's professionalism - Erika- are horrible.) Ricky seemed very rushed when I met with him; he only spent 20 minutes with me but said that my dog was a good fit for his program. He was out of the parking lot before I was, but I still had to pay the full $100. I was a little perturbed, but okay, fine. I was looking to book a three week boot camp. I set things up with his assistant, Ericka for my dog to begin the board and train program. It was a three week program and I had to pay for it in advance in full. Meanwhile, my brother, who also had a puppy, had called Ricky and was awaiting a phone call back, as he also wanted a board and train program. He had been on the call list for two weeks and still hadn't heard anything. I mentioned this to Ricky when I was booking my program and he said he would call my brother that night. He never did. After another week, my brother still hadn't received a phone call. Three weeks and no phone call? That's just bad business practice right there, especially during these hard times - you would think you would be doing your best to keep business going. Ricky had told me when we had talked on the phone, that if I ever had any questions for him, to not hesitate to reach out (I had told him about a bad experience with a previous trainer for my other dog, who never communicated with me. He told me that would not be the case with him). So I sent a text - it was the first and ONLY time I asked - to them wondering if they weren't able to call my brother, who hadn't received a call in 3 weeks, would they be too busy to give ample time to my puppy? Now mind you, as I stated before, Ricky told me if I had any questions at all, I could reach out to him. So I did, looking for a little reassurance, with my text. Their reply back? "Sorry for your concern. We are going to issue a refund for the immersion program. We have a program that is very successful and we don't think it is a good fit with your concerns. If you would like to re-enlist her in the future we can do that." WHAT THE HECK??? They actually booted me out of the program because I asked a question. I immediately replied back that I did not want to be booted out of the program. No response. I tried calling them and apologizing if my text came across badly - I still wanted to be part of the program. No response. I messaged them again. No response. I so needed help with my puppy and I tried everything I could to apologize if my text was received wrong. They REFUSED to respond. I had never been treated this poorly in my life! I kept checking to make sure I got my money back. It finally was coming through, and then Spectrum Canine *canceled* my refund. Were they trying to keep my $4000? I reached out through PayPal to the email address provided. Ricky got right back to me and said that he would re-issue my refund. I tried one more time to email him and say I wanted to be part of the program. No response back. So this leads me to believe that not only are they unprofessional, they obviously have huge egos and the fact that I asked a question was too much for his pride, so they booted me. I guess because I didn't have a K9 dog, I didn't make the cut. Sorry - I guess just a poor teacher who was willing to give up a month's salary for proper training wasn't good enough for them. I have copies of all the text messages and emails sent and received as proof of what transpired. Good news is I found a trainer who is wayyy better and my dog is doing wonderful!

This review is long overdue. Ricky helped train our bernedoodle Rolf. Rolf is now 3 years old and the investment we made in getting Rolf professionally trained is invaluable. He learned how to stop at the front door before we allow him to go outside, off leash training, heeling and so much more! Ricky has a gift with dogs and we would definitely recommend him!

I have a working Cane Corso who has been started in IPO but I've been looking for a new helper who can help work my dog in protection. I explained my thoughts on where my dog was at and some of the issues that I've been having as a result of some poor helper work and inconsistent sessions in protection. Ricky read my dog very well and worked my dog in exactly the way he needs to be worked. As someone who owns an off breed it's hard to find helpers and trainers who understand how to work a different dog, and Ricky did a great job with that today. He understands how to utilize pressure appropriately and his reward timing is great. I'm excited to continue working with him and to work with him in the other phases of the sport as well. I'm a professional dog trainer as well, so i always really appreciate other people doing good work in the industry!

We were referred to Spectrum K9 when our working line Shepherd was kicked out of puppy class for being too intense/aggressive. We initially had some sticker shock at the prices, but knowing we had bit off more than we could chew with this dog, we decided to take the risk. Fast forward 6 months and we have a fantastically trained, lovable, family dog. We especially enjoyed working with Spectrum for a few reasons. First, and foremost, we got results. He explained that there is no magic bullet in dog training, no replacement for hard work and consistency - and don't let any trainer tell you otherwise. He taught us techniques to train our dog, laying groundwork for a healthy relationship for years to come. The second reason why I enjoyed Spectrum K9 was because they really seemed to respect my dog. They do not use "old school" techniques of force, excessive pain or punishment as a training tactic but rather a choice/reward. Lastly, Spectrum offers free group classes for clients, where owners can put their dogs to the test and practice skills they have learned in their private lessons. This should not be overlooked when comparing prices as we found it invaluable to our training. The price may seem high, but I would happily recommend this company to any of my friends/family and in the end it was 100% worth it.

I wish I could give Ricky and his staff more stars! I am so excited to be typing this review I am completely unsure where to start. My German Shepherd was about 18 months at the time we decided to contact Spectrum was a HANDFUL. He jumped anytime you walked through the door or he got too excited, PULLED excessively on walks, barked uncontrollably, did not listen consistently, was afraid of people, and was not very confident in himself at all! Not what you'd expect from this breed. We contacting Spectrum and let me tell you the level of customer service I received from Ericka, AMAZING! Then, I was given the pleasure to speak with Ricky and I must say the customer service continued to be AMAZING! I told Ricky all about Joey, my dog, and he told me all about himself, his business and what to expect! He left no room for me to question ANYTHING! When it came down to picking Joey up it was not a quick, Ricky comes into your home gets your pet and leave. Ricky came, spoke with me and my family for about 5 minutes, met our dog (who actually pulled his collar and leash off), Ricky was patient! We finally got him back on the leash and Ricky still didn't just take our dog and leave! He took Joey on a quick walk accompanied by a family member which got Joey comfortable! Showed us a little of what we could expect from his amazing dog Icon, but obviously let us know Icon works a lot and Joey would look EXACTLY like that. During the time Ricky had Joey, he and Ericka kept in contact with me, I received pictures of Joey to reassure me that Joey was happy and okay. Let me make sure to mention Spectrum is huge on keeping their social media very up to date on what is happening, so I was able to see Joey on Instagram stories very often! The time came for Joey to come home and I must say our family was EXCITED! Ricky came inside, talked to me about Joey and his progress and things myself and my family needed to do. Ricky spent about 2.5 hours at my home teaching my WHOLE family, there is 6 of us, the commands, the dos and the don't! Now it is time to brag about the BRAND NEW DOG THAT CAME HOME! My 7-year-old brother is now able to walk Joey with ABSOLUTELY NO PULLING! Joey barks to let us know someone is here and IMMEDIATELY stops once you tell him it is enough! Joey had NOT JUMPED on anyone since he has been home! We can direct him to "place" and he will stay there for as long as we need until he is "freed"! Now, I would like to add we let Ricky know that we wanted a trained dog but we still wanted our family dog! Joey is trained but will still play with us and enjoy family time! Ricky has offered to come back in a week or so to make sure that things are going well! I WILL be doing more business with Spectrum and recommend them to ANYONE looking to train their dog!

I have decades of experience fostering dogs and personally adopting many of my own, and over the years I've worked with a wide range of trainers. Without question, Steve is in a league entirely of his own. His talent, intuition, and depth of understanding when it comes to dogs is extraordinary. He doesn't just train dogs; he teaches humans how to truly understand them. What made the experience even more unforgettable was the joy he brought into the day. We laughed constantly. At one point my cheeks genuinely hurt from hours of smiling and laughter. And yet, amid all of that warmth and humor, we walked away with an incredibly clear, grounded, and practical understanding of his methods and a deep sense of confidence in our ability to apply them. Steve's approach is refreshingly doable: just five minutes of training per day, paired with his ongoing availability as a resource. That combination alone feels invaluable. We literally just completed our training day today, so I plan to update this review in a few months with more detail about long-term ease of execution and results with our dog, Griffin. But one thing I feel compelled to share now is this: throughout the entire day, even while Griffin was dramatically protesting (vocally, and with flair), Steve remained calm, steady, and completely unfazed. Griffin didn't love everything he was being asked to do, but he clearly adored Steve. He never cowered, never shut down, never showed fear. That level of trust speaks volumes. At one point, I asked Steve about scheduling an additional training day for one of our other dogs. His response was thoughtful, sensible, and deeply ethical: he told me it wouldn't be necessary. He explained that the principles I was learning with Griffin would absolutely apply to our other dogs as well, and that he'd be more than happy to answer questions along the way. That moment really matters to me because it so clearly reflects that Steve is driven by genuine passion and care for people and dogs, not by squeezing every possible dollar out of his clients. I also want to wholeheartedly acknowledge Tasha, who was incredibly kind, responsive, and compassionate throughout the scheduling process. We had to cancel our original training day due to a traumatic injury our other dog, Enzo, sustained: a spinal stroke. Tasha immediately offered to refund our deposit without hesitation. When I shared that I still very much wanted to work with Steve, she later went out of her way to find us an earlier date than originally offered after I asked to be notified of any cancellations. That level of care and humanity meant so much during a really difficult time. I am profoundly grateful for Steve and his entire team. This was one of the most positive, affirming, and empowering experiences I've ever had as a dog guardian. If you're looking for the best, congratulations. You have found it with One Day Dog Training!

The problem is that the packaging requirement was printed in faded fine print, and the aquarium packaging did not seem possible to open without cutting through and destroying it. I understand that stores have return policies, and I try to be very patient with customer service staff. However, this situation felt unreasonable because the requirement was not clearly communicated and the packaging itself made compliance impractical. What bothered me most was the manager's dismissive response when I tried to explain the situation. When I asked whether there was someone I could speak with about the details, she simply said, "I'm the only manager in the store," and as I stood there visibly surprised by how abruptly the conversation had gone, she then asked me to hold my receipt, without acknowledging my concern or offering any explanation beyond the packaging issue. I left feeling that the policy was applied in a rigid way and that my concern was not treated respectfully. I would caution other customers to inspect return requirements very carefully before opening aquarium products, because the packaging may be impossible to preserve. I used to visit this PetSmart, but now am very unlikely to return. That manager could have volunteer a number of different words that would have made the exchange much more respectful and empathetic - instead, it made me incredulous that someone with that attitude was the choice for a manager. ( I do have to say that whoever helped me with my aquarium selection a couple weeks prior in the fish department was EXTREMELY kind and helpful ) - I think that manager has something to learn from that employee. Perhaps they should swap jobs.

The variety of food options from different suppliers and manufacturers give you plenty of choices to consider. If you're experimenting with different diets and meal combinations, this is a great place to build up your inventory in small batches at home. You'll find wet and dry varieties for both canines and felines but you'll also find feed for smaller critters as well. Their collection of treats and snacks is also immense. You'll find at least 4 aisles dedicated to chews for canines including horns, hoofs, antlers, bones, and hides. Biscuits, dried fish and produce blends, and jerky are also very common here with multiple brand options available. For biscuit and cookies, you'll also be able to purchase them by weight if you're looking for smaller amounts. They may vary in ingredients and design but they all seem very intact and organized. In addition to the edibles, your pets will grovel at all the toys and supplies to help them learn, play, walk, and be comfortable. From leashes, harnesses and boots for walks to beds, grass pads, and toys for home bodies, you'll be able to shop and buy all of them in person. Prices don't seem too much off from online prices but the benefit here is that you'll be able to bring it home with you right away while supporting a local business. You'll also find a self washing station here where many guardians take their furry pals to get cleaned up. The basins are quite large to accommodate larger animals and despite being self service, it seems to be kept pretty clean. The staff were also great during our visit. Overall, Pet Food Express is for sure where you'll find your pet necessities quickly, but due to the variety of items, by no means would you want to leave quickly. The available supplies and extent of options give you plenty to look through. If you're looking for something specific, the staff are available to help and fortunately prices are reasonable, so you and your pets will stroll out happy!

The process was very easy--shampoo and aprons were provided, and they had 25 minutes to wash our pup. This was more than enough time to thoroughly clean our 100lb husky and use the air-dry hose. The only reason we opted for just one wash instead of the bundle was the drying system. While the air-dry hose is a nice feature, it wasn't strong enough for our husky's thick coat. If you're on the fence, do yourself a favor and reach out to Beth. She's worth every penny and then some. Gambit and I are forever grateful. Beth gets a 10/5 from us--highly, highly recommend! (And yes, walks are now my favorite part of the day.)

It is not often that I leave 1-star reviews... but when it comes to my dog/puppy, I think leaving…read morethis honest feedback is important, as pets are part of one's family. This review is based on my experience back in Fall 2021. My puppy was 3-4 months at the time... we went to maybe 5 of the training classes and by that point, were so frustrated across the board that we never came back. Reasons for my 1-star review: -HUGE class sizes with 1 trainer. Supposed to be a class for puppies less than 1 year old but that was definitely not the case for many of the dogs. Not only was the trainer not able to give anyone individual attention, but my puppy was unable to handle this level of distractions at this age. The class is one-size-fits-all, no matter how young/old your pet is, maturity, size, behavior. We couldn't even get our dog to focus on us, definitely not able to train any behaviors. Clearly some older dogs were doing much better than ours but they shouldn't have even been in the same class. -Really dirty parking lot where the weekday trainings took place, which was even more concerning because my puppy was not fully vaccinated at this point. They didn't seem to be worried about it, but we were on high alert as this was also the parking lot of a PET STORE. Which meant a lot of feces everywhere and always a risk of disease or virus for puppies. -Training style was very harsh and not positive reinforcement. Did not let us use our harness and forced us to jerk our puppy's collar to get her to listen. That might work for some dogs, but ours was so crazed by all the dogs that she wouldn't even realize she was choking herself. Finally when we showed this to the trainer multiple times, he agreed maybe another tactic would be better for her. -Even worse than training style, EXTREMELY rude and aggressive owner (we're pretty sure it was the owner). It's one thing to coach us, it's another thing to force yourself and your style on us. Due to all the issues above, we started taking our puppy to the training and just standing on the outside - not actually participating in the training but just trying to practice on her focusing on us with all the distractions. For some reason, the owner didn't accept this and cornered us with his dog and tried to force his training tactics on her, which we were actively avoiding and it felt like he was trying to intimidate us. All to say, we didn't return after this. To be fair, I don't blame the trainer - I think he was doing the best with what he was given, but the program needs a serious revamp and the owner needs an attitude adjustment.

I would leave -10 stars if I can. Very bad experience with my puppy sending here for training. The…read moretrainers dog often attacks my puppy and they never seem to care. When first time the trainers dog caught my puppy's ear tight enough for him to get hurt and my puppy cried in pain . They said nothing to their dog nor never put them on leash. After three weeks the trainers dog bit my puppy again this time it was bad enough to hurt with a big pierce in his ear and lot of bleeding. My puppy cried loud and was scared a-lot to come out his father's hands for a very long time. NOW MY QUESTION :- when they cannot train their own dog how can they correct and teach other dogs ?? My advice to all new puppy owners please be aware and dont go here for your puppy training!
