I signed up for Spectrum TV and internet. I received my summary of monthly charges in an email an hour later and surprise surprise!!! My $115 plan actually costs $163! They say no taxes and hidden fees...I was charged almost $8 for taxes, $21 surcharge a month for local TV (no option not to pay that), $5 for WiFi, $10 for TV receiver per month. None of this was mentioned or reviewed to me before signing up. I called and was told that the $115 does not exist and that these are the charges, take it or leave it. I asked to cancel the everything and have been on hold for 50 minutes and counting to speak to a different person about canceling it. My first experience has been absolutely horrible! I will never use them again. So much for no taxes and hidden fees!!! I will be using another company that may look like they charge more but at least it is the real price and in the end it is about the same cost. read more

Ok, figure this one out. I have been with Time Warner for many ears since Spectrum took over. I got sucked into a Bundle Plan which was supposed to be the best! I noticed my channels started to have a "Golden" next to the channel. My channels started to come with an additional price. I got tired of the disappearing channel so I canceled my TV/Cable services. I only wanted Internet. If you are just looking for internet, Spectrum has 3 tiers available. $49.99, $69.99 and $89.99 (NO BUNDLING) Just my internet went to $129.99. When I called to cancel the Cable/TV, the person told me to turn everything in before the 13th of the month. I turned everything in on the 5th of the month. Now I have been charged for the Cable/TV for the month despite turning in the equipment that was given to me. There is NO Pro-Rate, there is no REFUND and after being a Time Warner/Spectrum customer for over 30+ years, I get a $40.00 increase a month just for Internet services. The Cable company s loosing money at a fast rate because of the high prices and little options. Streaming is where many people are switching to because of more options, better movies and cheaper prices. I am waiting for Google Optic to hit my neighborhood and it is coming fast. I was on hold for 22+ minutes waiting to speak to a Supervisor about this issue but soon I was dropped from the call! Go Figure! Buyer-be-ware! Well, after promo bundle, prices sky rocket. So I turned in my cable box after seeing my statement. Called to disconnect cable and phone and they said I had to go turn my cable box to terminate cable service. I only kept internet service. Which has been spotty since I cut my cable service. Anyway, neither the person on the phone or the person at the store said I would still be charged the full month even though I cut my cable before the ending service period. A full 3 weeks! They Do Not pro rate if you cut services early. So when I called about getting credit from the time I cut the cable, that's when I was told they don't pro rate. That I would be charged for the full billing period. Then suggested I go back to the store and get a box and they would turn it back on. There would not be a charge for that. Thanks. Now, if this is their policy, ok. Likely written in the large 10 page policy no one reads. Stuff like this should be reiterated by the Spectrum rep so we the consumer can say, ok, I'll wait until the end of the billing cycle to cut services and return the equipment. Yeah, $100 lesson learned. I'm looking into switching back to Grande. Still a big corporation, but they never did me like this. read more

It's a pity that 1 is the lowest whole number; if people could rate this company in the negatives, they absolutely would without hesitation. I moved to the ATX area back in August 2019 and as soon as I got my internet up and running, I knew I was going to hate it. It is hands-down the worst ISP I have ever experienced - and I used to have Suddenlink. Sometimes I will have full days where the internet doesn't even work (which is terrible if you are working from home). I reset all components to see if it will help - it doesn't. When the internet is running, you should expect terrible ping, falsely advertised download speeds, and maybe even the seemingly uncontrollable urge to commit first-degree arson upon the Spectrum headquarters. The only reason I got Spectrum in the first place was because that was all that was available in the area in which I had moved to. When my lease is up here, I am without a doubt switching ISPs. You could send an email faster by a carrier pigeon than with Spectrum internet services. The following are some things that are faster than Spectrum ISP: tortoises, molassses, watching paint dry, a man in a wheelchair who has a crowbar stuck in his spokes. Spectrum is a huge waste of money. If you are moving to a new area, consider your ISP options beforehand. If internet is important to you, I would highly suggest moving to where you have any other ISP options besides Spectrum. read more

Despite the poor reviews, my roommate and I were brave enough to visit this Spectrum location. We were immediately welcomed by Jack -- a helpful gentleman with a warm smile. As a fresh Austinite, I was relieved to talk to him about my experience in a new city and he seemed genuinely interested in the conversation, all the while getting my WiFi account set up in under 15 minutes. Could not be more pleasantly surprised! I just wanted to share this with the community because Spectrum it's becoming a waste of my time and a nightmare. I called on 11/05/19 "just to ask" for information about they promotions. The service representative was asking for my birthday just to give me general information? I refused to give her my DOB (and I wish now I would had ended up the phone call). I gave her only my name and address because she said she need it to verify if Spectrum was available on my area. She was nice but very pushy to make a contract and I told her that I needed time to talk to my husband. I even gave her permission to call me back so she could get the commission incase that I decided to go with them. I told her to call me after a several days because I was going to be out of town. Well, long story short, she made the contract WITHOUT my permission and I got 2 boxes with equipment from Spectrum on Thursday, 11/07/19, two days after I told that agent to give me time to talk about it with my husband. I was out of town and that day was raining a lot. Spectrum is lucky that I have a wonderful neighbor who kept those boxes until we came back. If someone would had stolen that equipment I would had been responsible to pay for them, which I disagree because I never made a contract. I called Spectrum on 11/10/19 and explained the situation. The agent was very nice and apologize to me for the inconvenience, he said there was no problem, just to send that equipment back and that they will cancel the contract. I said, ok, it's an inconvenience for me because I never made the contract to begin with, but I will send it back, which I did on the same day I called, 11/10/19. I called on 11/15/19 again, they could see on their system I returned something but it was not reflected on their system yet, but they said: "don't worry, your contract has been canceled, so no charges". I called back again on 11/20/19 to make sure they did received the equipment and that my contract was canceled. I was on the phone for a long time, they would transfer me from one department to another, I had to explain everything from the beginning each time ( by this time I am getting really frustrated and upset with Spectrum), they finally said, ok, we got the equipment and we will cancel your contract (which I thought they had canceled on 11/10/19 when I let them know that never made the contract) Well, I went to pick up my mail and guess what! I have an invoice for $207 from Spectrum!! I mean, are you kidding me? After all those phone calls, and returning the equipment, I just can't believe it! And the promotion for new customer was about $120 and they are charging me $207? wow I don't know what else to do at this point, any advise please? read more

What a disappointment all around, from the wonky technology to customer service to the constant (weekly) letters trying to get you to upgrade your service. Spectrum has a monopoly on my apt. complex and wow, they sure to take advantage of it. Called back i was told they didn't cancel internet they had to reconfigure their modem? I informed them I own my modem...she said ooh and transferred me to I.T. who after 30 minutes never picked up.called back spoke to one rep for 20 min who then told me he isn't authorized to make changes and he would put me thru too retention to reinstate my internet...that I never canceled. The new gentlemen spends 20 min making noises while reviewing my account then tells me he figured it out it's because I canceled phone also and that has to be canceled first before they can reinstate my internet(that I never canceled) and that will take up too 24 hours...That is Great Customer Service!! What a joke ooh and I will have to call them back to reinstate my internet they won't just fix what they screwed up! So in my opinion if you want constantly increasing prices and horrible customer service Spectrum is the place for you. And if you ever try to change your account or cancel be prepared to be bullied into staying and if you insist you should be prepared for there spiteful tactics of accidentally screwing everything up on your account to make your life miserable and you will have to call repeditly to get things fixed and even then like me you could be waiting for internet service that you never canceled to be reinstated in 24 hours! I hope this review helps just one person not make a mistake when they choose a provider. This company is one of the worst I've ever dealt with since I started having cable in my home in the 1990s. I have been paying a "ransom" fee for the past year -- to retain my "Road Runner" addresses while family issues were unfolding that required my complete attention. Spectrum doesn't allow one to keep an email address for a small fee the way AOL and other internet providers do -- you have to keep their entire Internet service online in order to keep the email addresses. So, I did so. Today, I called to cancel the service and was told that I was required to pay the current bill for service to the 27th of this month, although the service would be canceled the same day. I tried to negotiate with the person on the phone but, as is typical, they were simply doing what they were told -- and what their company wanted them to do was to sell me MORE services and charge as much as they could for them. I hate this company -- truly -- and will never deal with them again. I would recommend that anyone who doesn't currently have Internet/Cable find another provider. ANY other provider. This company deserves to go out of business, and I assume they will be sold to some other corporation at some point because of the imminence of their demise. read more

I stopped by this location to drop off my cable boxes and internet router while canceling my account with them. I had Google Fiber & TV installed last weekend, so I've severed ties with TWC. The process was quick and painless. They scanned the serial numbers of the devices I returned, asked why I was cancelling, I signed a receipt, and that was it. It was all friendly and efficient. When I got home, I tried to log into my account on their web page, and I'd already been deleted. I hope they remember to also delete my monthly auto-payments. TWC wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible, either. I can't say I'll miss them, but everything mostly worked OK for several years. read more

I had problems the entire time I had service with Spectrum. They raised their rates by $15/month after the first year with no added service. Their internet service was spotty at best and dropped out multiple times per day which made working from home frustrating beyond belief. When I disconnected my service to move it was three days into the billing cycle. They would not prorate the amount and charged me for a full month of service despite only using three days. So I paid almost $32/day for that service. Austin's internet service provider coverage is almost criminal due to legacy contracts that divided the city into turfs. There is almost no competition which is pitiful in a city that prides itself on its tech industry. If you work from home and are looking at a new place to live consider the provider options before you move. Stay away from Spectrum like it has the virus and go with either Grande or Google. read more

I was lied to by an employee of spectrum. They gave me wrong information. Told me I was getting a gift card that apparently doesn't exist. Told me I would be getting the tv Choice for the same price as what I was already paying, due to a "special" promotion. Nope! My bill went up almost $40.00! Not to mention the extra charge that I wasn't told about. Surcharge? Why? I was told I was getting equipment and after the equipment was plugged in, my service would start, as well as the billing period. The mystery equipment never came in the mail ( and apparently we didn't even need it I found out later ). But since I didn't know any of that, I Thought they never actually signed us up because we never got an email confirmation like we were supposed to, we never got any call or text confirmation. We were given false information so we didn't know we even had these channels. I felt that it was very sneaky and nasty how they did this. Why? Just to make more commission? Do they realize that the specific employee may be making more in that moment, but long term the company is suffering because of employees like this. Customer longevity is a joke here. So I had a service I didn't know I had because no equipment, no service ( which is what we were told ). So it never got used! And I got charged a lot for something I wasn't supposed to pay for, no gift card, no nothing. Just a bad taste in my mouth from Spectrum. I explained all this to Spectrum, but they refuse to refund me the money essentially stolen. I obviously cancelled the choice channels that I never would have got in the first place if honesty and integrity were part of a cable companies policy, but it's not. The policy is NO refunds & NO quality. No proper customer service at all. I'll be shopping for a new company that has better internet and better customer service. Google fiber sounds good. I even told Spectrum that they need to do something about the employee that's telling people these things. It's through a marketing company that Spectrum is affiliated with apparently. I have a feeling they are going to lose a lot of customers. They don't seem to care about the employee or what happened to me. They say they care, but then do nothing to find out how to prevent these things from happening. They simply don't care that current customers are being scammed, cheated, lied to, and then leaving. I have been trying for over a month to get Time to my house to take down old equipment. The wire from my house to the utility pole is dangerously low, and the box attached to the house is open with wires hanging out. I had the same problem with AT&T equipment; but they were out that very day. When I talked to the Time supervisor today, she said it would take 5 to 7 business days to get this handled (even though it has been over a month and several calls and promises). Never go to TWC ever. I added a tv connection to my existing internet connection upon the request of a representative that I can disconnect it without any charge if I disconnect within 30 days. Guess what, i called in after 20 days as I was not satisfied and after 15 calls to the customer care at different times they did not take the charge off my account. Some representatives said that it will come off in the next billing cycle, some said it is not free for 30 days if I already have an internet connection, some said they already made the credit. There were all kinds of responses. And they were trying to confuse me too much. Uggggggghhhhhh. Basically they just tried to deceive me. Spectrum sales rep was at walmart and asked if i was interested in spectrum and i clearly told him no. I explained i heard bad things about spectrum and was not interested but he was a bit pushy and was not willing to accept no as a answer so he told me it was free for 2yrs so i signed up and after i talked to my wife we decided to cancel and we told ivan to cancel and we still recieved that stupid box at our door so he obviously lied when he said he would take care of it. When a company lies to me even once i always think what else are they lying about? If you have to read the fine print to make sure you dont get screwed then thats not a company i want to do business with. Then we returned the stupid box to the spectrum store and had to wait at least 45 min because there was 12 other unhappy customers in the store and had 5 registers open but only 2 were helping customers . My company has been waiting over a month for a simple request to be processed through them, which they initially told us would only take a couple days. When we asked about the status a week after our request order was submitted, they said they had no updates on the status and apologized for the delay with this lame excuse: "large companies such as ours so not move very quickly." In what universe is that an acceptable response to a client? So we are still waiting, with no status updates or any explanation for the long delay other than that awful excuse. Spectrum sucks Rate Hike for loyal customers, This seems to be a common practice for all companies. Terrible business practices. After a year my rate went from $57 to $69 and the auto pay was automatically removed which added a $10 late fee, $79 for month. I called initially to try and resolve the issue over the phone. They said they would waive the $10 penalty but evidently there was 2 $10 penalties since I was a few days late on the second month. I went in person to talk to someone but they directed me to accounting so I had call in a second time. I gave them 1 star since I'm being charged for their auto pay not working. The overall customer service feel is reminiscent of Time Warner. They didn't care what the issue was. They provided no help in resolving my issue and just wanted their money. To be fare this is only if you show up in person. The call center was more helpful then addressing this in person at the store front. read more
