I originally made an appointment with Aaron, but when I arrived, I was told he had taken the weekend off. I agreed to have Helen do my nails instead since she has done them before and I've always liked her work. I showed her my inspiration picture, and she said she could do it. While she was working, I politely mentioned that my nails still looked like they needed to be filled more. Before Helen could even respond, the owner jumped in and loudly told me, "DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, the color will cover it." I ignored the attitude and let her continue. A few minutes later, he started pressuring me to pick a color. I explained that the shade I wanted wasn't on the color chart and showed him my inspiration picture again. He immediately started going off about how Helen couldn't do the design and that I would need to come back another day. Helen then told him herself that she could do it, so he backed off. Later, when Helen started applying a pink shade, I simply asked if she had a more brown/neutral nude and showed her another picture. Again, the owner inserted himself, started raising his voice, rambling at me, and standing over me in front of other customers. I left mid fill. Helen was sweet and I have zero complaints about her. But the owner desperately needs to learn how to speak to customers. I came in for a fill, not an argument. I will NOT be back.

This place was recommended to me and was near my house. So I figured why not. I asked for a gel…read moremanicure. So many things wrong. 1. She practically ripped off my cuticles. She pulled every time she cut them. How I didn't end up with blood all over my hands I don't know, because it hurt. 2. She talked to her coworker in her native language the ENTIRE time. She occasionally smirked at me, but the only time she talked to me was to tell me to give her my hand or something. 3. It didn't seem clean. I saw tools come out of drawers, but not out of clean packets like I am used to seeing. She laid down a towel for my hands to lay on that I'm HOPING was just washed stains, but it looked filthy. 4. I asked her to do 2 base coats like my old nail lady used to. I have thin nails, that was my old nail lady's solution and it worked. When I asked this girl, she starts laughing at me. I don't mean giggle, I mean gull on belly laughing at me. She then tells me that's stupid and it doesn't make any difference and "we do it her way this time". I seriously considered walking out but we were basically half done. It is the worst customer service I've ever had a nail salon. I gave her a $2 tip ONLY because my nails did end up looking good. But she was VERY lucky I gave her anything at all. If you're looking for a nail place in Havelock, run away from this place. Sure, my nails ended up looking ok. But you shouldn't pay someone to insult you. Period. I'll be driving to Morehead City next time.

My girlfriend and I came here to get waxing and nails done. we were seated immediately as we had…read moreappointments over the phone. The mother sister duo was incredible. The wax was virtually painless which is a miracle. For the waxing I would say 5 stars. Our nails looked okay when we left it was just simple polish but there were some odd things. First the station itself just doesn't look very professional and clean. There's an iPad at the station playin television which I don't love. Next one woman had multiple calls while doing nails to her daughter which she put on speaker phone. A woman walked in who had an appointment at 3. By 3:10 when she wasn't being seated she said she was on a tight schedule and left. A little much but also I understand. That's why you make an appointment. This happened twice. That would annoy me for sure. The nails. Well there was no base coat so of course within 2 days the nail polish chipped off my fingers. What a bummer. Then there's a wall behind the two stations of about 40 colors. You don't get to walk behind and pick. You tell her the idea of color you wanted and she shows you some. It's a little strange and pushy. Not sure why you would do it that way I have to take away some stars for the nails because they just were not done well and chipped in 48 hours. However they were delightful to speak with and super close to MCAS. UPDATE edit: do not go here. I ended up at the doctor because the wax was so hot it burnt my skin. I had intense pain and burning and it actually gave me a bacterial infection.

A picture is worth 1000 words. See my photos for what my nails looked like…read more I haven't had acrylic nails in 10 - 15 years and was unsure what they should like like after fills. So I found a forum of professionals and showed them the above image. Every one of them confirmed my feeling that it was a poor job and said to have them removed and find a new salon. This photo was taken 2 weeks after a back fill and 2 months after having them put on. I was paying $25 - 35 a visit for a fill and since the first fill have been completely embarrassed by how they looked and kept them covered in polish. As some other reviews stated, there was gossip being slung around the entire time. Personal phone calls were taken while I was in the chair, pauses for the manicurist to do some texting, their children sitting around asking clients personal questions. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, but I think it's a bit too relaxed. They seem to have forgotten they're a business and not a quilting bee. At the advice of professionals, I will not be returning to this salon and will begin my search for a salon that will do a better job, respect my time, and act professionally. Edit 3/26/15 For those who doubt that these were done at All-American, I can assure you that they were. They were done by both the older woman (owner) and her daughter. I paid with a credit card and have receipts and bank statements. I have no personal "agenda" other than to prevent this from happening to other people. Nor is this slander, the pictures and receipts are proof enough, and I'd bet they'd remember me if I walked back in the salon. I'm glad you had a better experience, but not everyone has been treated the same, or gotten the same quality service. I was VERY lucky I didn't end up with a nail infection. The salon in Morehead City I went to to have these removed at was astounded at how bad they were. I stopped at a different salon in Havelock for an opinion and they were also shocked at how poorly done they were and how at risk I was for an infection due to the air pockets. I couldn't even have anything put back on my nails because they were in such poor condition. I just want to make people aware that this was my experience with this salon, and it WAS at All-American Nails!
