Great experience with this tree company. Really liked that the person who gave the estimate, Jay, was the same person who headed up the crew and did the work. He has strong arborist knowledge and is hands-on, so you're talking directly to the person both knowledgeable and responsible for the job. The job involved removal of two dead 60 ft high oak trees in awkward locations, and some tree limbs that needed to go, especially as a storm was forecasted in coming days. They completed the work within just a few days of the estimate and were professional, careful, and well-equipped. They lowered pieces carefully with ropes, cut the stumps super low, and did an excellent clean up. Communication was excellent with quick responses by email or phone. I'd definitely use them again. read more

Jay and his team were just wonderful! They removed a large maple tree on my property that had been killed by bugs, so the branches started falling. Took less than a week from quote to finished product! While they were here, the team also trimmed branches off a tree that was overhanging our roof (but still very much alive). The team hauled away all the debris too! I would highly recommend for your tree care needs. read more

Jay was terrific. His team quickly took down a large tree that was halved in a storm. Prompt, polite and talented. They were wonderful!

Our condo has some rotten trees in our backyard. Additionally we have this 1 large tree with branches that are extending very closely to our condo. When it is very windy, it can almost touch our roof! I found Specialized Rigging & Tree Care through Yelp. Jay was very responsive. He came out fairly quickly to assess the work and provided an estimate soon after. My condo took some time mulling over the price, but ultimately hired Jay and his team. They came by the other day and did an amazing job. The rotten trees were cut as low as possible and the pruning of the big tree was great. None of the branches are close to our condo now. Additionally, they pruned another smaller tree that is close to our condo. Lastly, they cleaned up their work, so you can't even tell anything was done! I highly recommend Jay and his team to do your tree removal work! read more

We had a great experience with Specialized Rigging. Jay helped us make a hard decision - to remove a much-loved maple that was compromised and presented a risk to our house in a big storm. We consulted a number of arborists and decided to go with Specialized Rigging for a number of reasons but mostly because we were convinced they could bring down this big tree without causing any damage to our, or our neighbor's, property. Jay and his crew were just a delight. They worked for two solid days on the project, taking great pains to protect some delicate plantings. Their skill, expertise, and good humor were impressive. We're still sad to have lost our tree but so happy that the work was done so well and with minimal inconvenience. Plus it was INCREDIBLY interesting to watch them work. Highly, highly recommended. read more

Jay and his crew did an amazing job removing a huge tree in front of my house. Very good communication, he replied to my quote very quickly and came on short notice to give me a quote and was here the day after for removal. The tree itself was removed very quickly. Thanks for the great work! read more

I had a couple of trees and a privet that were overgrown, some volunteer maples and general messiness between my neighbor's house and mine. Jay and his team did an amazing job. I am a plant/tree lover and have a hard time even pulling weeds. Jay clearly knows his trees and made sure I understood that he would be gentle and knew what he was doing. The trees look so happy and my yard looks fancy. Jay and his team were careful, courteous, and efficient. You can't even tell they were in the yard - nothing was broken or harmed. Reasonable rates too! I recommend this company highly. I know I won't be going anywhere else when I need tree work. read more

From beginning to end, Jay was a pleasure to work with. He's very responsive to whatever method of communication you prefer and have initiated with him. He and his team were prompt with their arrival and did all the work as detailed in his quote (pruning back a tree that was growing into my yard and overhanging my garage, along with pruning/removal of smaller foliage behind my garage). The team was also very mindful about my lawn when they have to back the bucket truck utility vehicle into my driveway by using wooden planks on areas where they had to drive onto the grass - something not unnoticed and very appreciated. He was able to match another quote I received and because of how excellent his communication was with me from beginning to end, I do not regret one but for choosing his team. I will look to Jay for future projects because of the entire experience. read more

It was hard to remove two big trees from hard to reach yard. They were on the spot with a reasonable quote and it was done within the week. Well maintained equipment , bucket, chipper. Crew wore proper safety gear , cleaned up, respectful of property . Good communication between Jay and George. Cut us a few pieces of our 100 year old tree to use as stools in the now accessible back yard. Can't say enough positive things about a situation I didn't want to be in... relief. Hire them. We recently hired Specialized Rigging for a second time. Mike, Jay and their crew removed a dead tree and pruned another one. They were very efficient and careful in the tree removal. They were also very artful in the tree pruning. Tree pruning is difficult to do well. Best left to professionals like these. read more

These are professional arborists. They pruned some large trees that are close to the house. Pruning cuts down greatly on the sail effect of an overgrown tree and keeps both the tree and its branches upright and not on your house. It is essential to use professional arborists to get this job done right. Not only do you want to thin the branches out effectively you also want the trees to look good. We got both with this company. Priced reasonably. Fast and friendly. read more

We recently contracted with Specialized Rigging and Tree Care to remove a very large and decaying tree on our property. The tree was in a difficult to reach place, set back from the road in-between multiple homes. It certainly posed a risk not only to our home but our neighbors as well. The tree was inaccessible for a crane and would require a team to climb it and remove it safely. Many tree service companies would not touch this job. Jay and his team assessed the situation, had the right equipment, and expertly and professionally removed the tree without issue. They were transparent about the work that needed to be done, arrived on time, and did a wonderful job cleaning up the yard once done. All in all, they were a pleasure to deal with. I would strongly recommend them to anyone in need of tree service! read more

Out of all of the places I contacted for estimates, this place was easily the quickest to respond and the friendliest. They did a great job, removing two trees and pruning three others. The work went quick and they cleaned up after themselves really well. As far as price, they came in almost the same as the other quotes I was given, but were much more professional. They also made sure that I was well informed about the health of my trees and what work would need to be done in the future. I will definitely be going back to them for any future tree care. read more

This company removed a tree on my neighbors property. Because the tree bordered my property, the company needed access to my lawn, which we agreed to. During the tree removal process I kindly asked the workers to remove a log that fell onto the flower bed when I was walking to the car. After I got in my vehicle, one worker threw his hands up in distrust and waved me over. I got out of my car, and he began arguing with me that the log wasn't in the flower bed. I went over and pointed out that it was, but he continued to be rude, argumentative, and unprofessional telling a coworker that I was "Giving him shit" about the log and gave me a sarcastic apology. The incident was completely unnecessary and I recommend people look elsewhere for a more professional and respectful company. read more

We had a tree in a very difficult location to bring down and remove. It could not be craned or bucketed over the house. It had to be climbed. Not only did Specialized do a spectacular job but they bailed us out when Monster Tree Service left us in the lurch the day they were supposed to come to do the work. We had a very short window within which the job had to be completed and Specialized was incredibly responsive. They came the same day I called them to do an estimate and the very next day to do the job. I watched the entire process and it was simply amazing. Their expertise, concern for safety, and awareness of the potential risks to our deck and house were greatly appreciated and their methodical and expert approach was impressive. And if all that wasn't enough, they cleaned up all the sawdust afterward! I cannot recommend Specialized highly enough!! read more

Outstanding job. Jay, Mike, and their crew showed up on time and were completely professional. They protected the gates from accidental scratching as they took branches through, cut the stump extremely low to the ground, and worked through the rain. Jay is a military guy with service in Afghanistan and he brought that military work ethic right to the job site. He even had his men go around the block to the neighbor's and pick up any twigs that fell over the back fence when they were working. I'll definitely hire again. read more

Jay and team were fast, effective and a joy to work with. After the recent nor'easter we were reasonably frantic to get the large tree off our house so we could get the wires repaired. Very happy with the beautiful work cutting back and thinning out my old oak tree. More light, looks great

Jay, Mike and his crew removed a towering completely rotten silver maple tree from our yard. Our yard is almost impossible to to get into and the tree was so dangerous that the crew had to rig up a line from other trees so that Mike could cut it down piece by piece. Fantastic job done by Mike, Jay and crew! They were outstanding and very professional, and cleaned up my neighbor's sawdust too!

When a massive tree slammed into our home during a recent snow storm, we needed quick and expert help. The tree was tangled in our roof, our fence and our deck. This was not an easy job and required skill to make sure the removal of the tree didn't do more damage. Jay and Mike got to us within 24 hours to begin work. Other companies told us we would have to wait weeks. They arrived exactly when they said they would, and got to work right away. I could see them working together to figure out the smartest way to remove the tree. They used power tools and manual saws to execute on their plan flawlessly. They carefully cut and removed branches, cleaned up our yard, and hauled everything away. Several neighbors were impacted when the tree fell, and Jay's team treated all of them with respect and kindness. They even examined some other trees and make recommendations for pruning to save us trouble going forward. Thanks Jay, Mike, Fernando and team for helping us get through this tough time! See you again soon for cosmetic - not emergency - tree work! read more

We just bought a new house & one of the first things we wanted to do was remove 2 extremely large pines that were in the backyard. We had some concerns because the larger and more profuse pine was also hanging over a portion of one of our neighbor's greenhouses and we did not want to have any damage issues if it was left up nor in the process of taking it down. The only access to our backyard is a 4 ft. wide chain link fence gate from the driveway beside our house and our backyard is surrounded on all sides by neighboring yards, so we knew we could not have a bucket truck come in to do the tree removal. This was worrisome considering that both trees where a good deal taller than our house and the larger one had multiple trunks and already had one large branch that was splitting. I found Specialized Rigging & Tree Care on Angie's List and I felt reassured by the video of them on a job that is posted on their website. ( www.specializedtreecare.com ) They definitely seemed to have experience in bringing down large trees without a bucket truck in potentially close areas. So I called and set up a free estimate for the work we wanted. Originally we were thinking of having 3 trees taken down, the 2 pines in the backyard and a maple in the front. But luckily for us when Jay came out to give us the free estimate he pointed out that because the tree in the front yard was so close to the road, we ought to check to see if it is a town tree before having it removed. He gave us an estimate for having all 3 trees removed and the stumps for all of them ground. Following his advice I did check with the town and found that the front yard tree "is" a town tree and that we would have been fined if we had had it removed. I let Jay know and he gave us a revised estimate for taking down just the 2 large pines in the back. The estimate actually ended up being exactly what my husband had originally told me it would probably cost before we had spoken to anyone (because of the size and placement of the trees) with an additional 5% discount for being an Angie's list member. So I had no hesitation whatsoever in accepting what was a very fair price for the job. Jay set up a date for the job with my husband but then that date ended up conflicting first with when National Grid would be installing a gas line and then with my sister-in-law's wedding but Jay was happy to accommodate our scheduling issue. He was very nice about the rescheduling and at no time did he make us feel as if we were being troublesome, which was appreciated since I was dealing with the stress of juggling the various contractors that were doing jobs on our new home. Jay told us that the job would take approximately 3 days to complete which was perfect since we would be leaving for the wedding the day after the job was completed. Jay and his crew showed up on all 3 days exactly when he said they would be there and he and his crew were extremely polite and pleasant during the entire 3 days. They were very quick to respond to any questions that I had as they went along and Jay told me more than once to feel free to let him know if I had any concerns at any time. I was there during the entire job and I saw how hard they worked, and how well they did. They did not get even one branch in either of the neighbors' yards which is amazing considering how much overlap there was from the trees but it was obvious during the entire job that they really knew that they were doing and took great care with the rigging to try and insure the safe placement of the falling branches and wood and then the final dropping of the trunk. It was really amazing. They also were very efficient in removing the branches as they went along for grinding and raking up at the end of each work day. I was definitely impressed. My husband was extremely impressed with how well they cleaned up the site at the end of each day. On the 3rd and final day, Jay had the stumps ground while he and his crew finished removing the rest of the logs from the giant multi-leader pine that had hung over part of my neighbor's greenhouse. He asked if we would like to keep the stump grindings as mulch and filler or have them remove them and we decided to keep them since we had areas of the lawn we needed to fill before we could level the lawn thus saving us a little in buying mulch ourselves to do that. So he had the grindings raked up neatly in to piles where the tree stumps had been. He was also very careful to make sure that the roots for our neighbor's pine tree which extended onto our lawn were not ground along with the stump and roots for the tree we had taken down there, so that no damage would be caused to our neighbor's tree. All in all he and his crew did an excellent job and I would definitely use them again and I highly recommend them to anyone for this type of work. In fact I already did recommend him to my neighbor when he mentioned that he was thinking of taking some of his trees in the backyard down. read more
