Very disappointed with the quality of repairs at Special Interest Auto Body (Everett, WA). I brought in an almost brand-new vehicle -- I had only driven it for about a week before the accident, and the odometer read approximately 1,500 miles when I dropped it off. Because of the car's pristine condition, it was especially important to me that the repair quality matched the original factory finish. Before the repair began, I asked multiple times which specific parts of the vehicle would be repainted. However, significantly more panels ended up being repainted than I was originally told. I received no clear notice or approval for this expanded scope of work. After the repairs were completed, I noticed several serious issues: * On multiple repainted surfaces, visible dust particles and debris were trapped under the clear coat. * It was clear that the shop attempted to polish those areas to remove the visible contamination. However, as a result, many of those spots were damaged with swirl marks and deep scratches caused by the polishing machine. * These marks are now beyond correction by polishing -- the only viable solution would be full repainting and recoating of the affected areas. * I also found new scratches on both the interior and exterior of the car, including on trim pieces and interior panels, which were not present before the repair. * The newly installed front or rear bumper (depending on exact context) had small but visible scratches on it at the time of delivery. * A rear left window with defroster lines was installed, even though the original rear right window does not have defroster lines -- which creates an inconsistent appearance and raises questions about parts matching. In addition to all of the above, I had clearly requested in advance of the repair that all original parts replaced during the repair process be returned to me in full. This request was acknowledged verbally, but only some of the parts were actually returned, and the rest were never provided despite follow-ups. None of these concerns were addressed or resolved at the time of pickup. Overall, my experience was extremely disappointing. The quality of the repair did not meet expectations -- especially considering that the vehicle was nearly brand new. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this body shop to other vehicle owners. read more

After a car accident, I googled auto body shops in North Seattle area.  Special Interest Auto Body has good ratings on both Yelp and Google.  So I called to make an appointment to get an estimate for repairs but a representative told me that I may just walk in anytime during their business hour without the appointment.  Super, that's even better! When I took my car to Special Interest, Alisa welcomed me and immediately performed the estimate by taking tons of pictures.  She also collected my auto insurance information so she could send the estimate along with the pictures to the insurance company upon my request.  Everything was all done in 10 minutes.  It was much faster than I expected. Alisa also emailed me a copy of the estimate for my review in case if I want to take my car to the other body shops.   Special Interest Auto Body's estimate seemed very reasonable.  However, I couldn't get my car fixed at the Special Interest because my insurance company has its own authorized body shop.   Anyway, I strongly recommend anyone to take his or her car to Special Interest.  They are very professional, and Alisa was the best! read more

I swear to God one of the worst decisions I made they lied about when my car was finished and the women on the phone admitted to the owner and my insurance she gave me wrong information. When I finally got my car it wasn't even fixed left my door messed up and took it to a different body shop and they told me my airbaganchors on the drivers side is completely missing. Special interest knew rain could not get in the remaining chip board left on top. They ordered part & covered that chip thing so water couldn't get in ... 1 week later part was in & 1 week later car fixed. They worked on my SUV last year, since then I hear wind as I drive because my doors don't seal anymore, all my electronics are in shambles and have minds of their own (most likely they pinched a wire during repairs) they broke interior trim. And my vehicle magically has 350 more miles on it from when I dropped it off according to the invoice provided. I wouldn't trust these guys with my lawn mower at this point. After having a deer run into the side of my 2023 Corvette, I was apprehensive about where I could have repairs done by a qualified shop. After doing some research, I settled on Special Interest Auto Body even though they were about 2 hours away from me. I've heard horror stories of shops taking vehicles for joy rides, so photo'd the mileage while parked at the front of their shop. They did a nice job of color matching a difficult 3-stage red, and after tire replacement and alignment, only put one mile on the car. Not the cheapest shop around, but as they say, "you get what you pay for". If you've got a "special interest" car, this is the place to go. read more

I can't say enough about the wonderful customer service and experience I received from them. Our 2015 Subaru -- first car we've ever bought new -- has already been in here three times. Apparently, it came factory-equipped with special "invisible paint," because people just naturally lunge their vehicles in its general direction. I've made most of them miss, but obviously not every one. Special Interest was recommended to us by D&L Restoration, which is an outstanding custom shop specializing in rotisserie restorations of priceless vintage rigs. Last time through Special Interest was a couple of weeks back, and it was our first experience with their new "Geico annex." We don't use Geico ourselves (though Safeco will work with Special Interest by request). The at-fault driver had Geico coverage, though, so we got taken care of there. After we told them we'd already scheduled a trip out of town over the weekend they were keeping the car, they set us up with an Enterprise rental SUV every bit as big as our Outback. On our way to the coast, they called to tell us that our car, which wasn't due until the following Tuesday, was already finished! We went ahead and finished our trip, then swapped back into our car on Monday. It felt like getting into a new car -- not only did they make the inside immaculate (for perspective, we are "kids and dogs" people who eat in our car on road trips), but the body and paint work was beyond flawless. By "beyond," in this case, I mean that Special Interest removed at least five (5) door dings on panels that weren't damaged in the collision. Not only was there no charge for the work, they didn't even mention it -- but you better believe we noticed. This place deserves at least 12 out of five stars. Friendly, efficient staff; painless insurance and rental car experience; crisp body and paint work; and those "above and beyond" dent removals that meant a whole lot more than a mint on the pillow. read more

I got into a pretty bad accident on 1/25. They said it would take about 8 days to complete the car. Unfortunately, snowmageddon happened and parts were slow to come in. Then a bumber didn't fit, then something was wrong with the computer, then the radio didn't work. Now that all sounds pretty bad right? Well it wasn't. Between Geico, Enterprise Car Rental and Special Interest Auto, I was VERY well taken care, even with all of the issues. They all worked with me so that after 6 weeks of waiting for the car, I ended up only paying for a couple of days rental. AND, they kept me informed all along the way... they were kind as could be. I have owned 91 cars since 1957. The majority have been Porsche, Ferrari, Lotus, De Tomaso, Corvette, Jaguar, Morgan, BMW, Audi, MOPAR and 2 Scion TC's. I have found Special Interest the best Body Shop I have ever worked with. They take pride in their work. I have constantly been adding factory only parts and kept everything on my vehicles touched up. I found them in 2006 based in local recommendations and have been happy ever since. You will never be disappointed. They do everything right. And if you doubt them they make it right. I recently had touch up done on my white RS-5. The work was perfect. Before that I had a blue Audi A5 S Line and had them make that right too. Currently my work car, a Toyota SUV is in there being done over. The owner is very nice and will speak with you any time. They always arrange the rental car for me a when I pick up my car the interior is cleaner than when I brought it in. I will always make sure my vehicles come here. Never let an insurance company tell you that you are not allowed. They have tried that on me. It is always your choice.I have worked with Scott since 2006. He will always be there for you. read more

I was rear-ended a few months ago and of course the person that hit me turned up not to have any coverage. Ugh!!! I got with my insurance, Geico, and they told me this company does fantastic work that is completely guaranteed. Geico made me an appt. for the following week. I walked in and was greeted by friendly personnel. Showed them the damage to my car and hoped into my rental. Since my car was already going to be in the shop I went ahead and got my windshield replaced due to cracks from rocks. My car was fixed in a week. My car looked like new. Great job on the bumper!!! A family member recommended this place after someone side swiped my car & they did awesome work! So 2 years later when I rear ended someone there was no doubt in my mind I would use them again. The owner is AWESOME! They were completely booked out & he recognized my car & when he realized I was a past customer he did everything he could to get me on the schedule even though they were completely swamped. Every time I called in for an update he was so nice & made sure I understood everything they were doing. When I picked it up they had actually brought it back to detail because they noticed some dirt so they wanted to wash it off & then noticed another spot they wanted to wax. John was great with me, explaining all of the safety features of the Jeep Patriot - he spent over an hour with me explaining what was wrong with the Jeep and how they were going to repair it. At the end of it all there was too much damage and the insurance company totaled the vehicle out but I am confident that it would have been fixed to the highest standards and I would have felt safe driving it. When you walk in the door you get the immediate impression that the staff truly enjoy their jobs and that they put a high value on their customers. My truck was rear ended, I wanted to repair a few other flaws while it was being worked on. I am a tough customer that appreciates attention to detail. I had concerns about some fairly minor issues. This body shop has my Lexus and they are not good at customer service or communication. First off when they received my car I had to call in and ask where my car was. THEY said they did not have my car!!! It took them a whole day to realize they do have my Lexus. Then I waited a week to call them back and then they said oh we have not started on the car and someone would call me. I waited 3 more days and then called and they said the insurance company have approved the work and they were JUST starting on the car. Then I waited another week and called them and they tell me they had to send my car to another shop so they could take the hard top off my car. I waited another week and the other shop still has the car taking the top off the car. THIS has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a company. I still have NEVER been called by this body shop and I have had to reach out every time. This is not how you treat people. I love love my car and have never been treated so poorly. I was told over and over that someone would reach out to me and NO one has. Also the kicker is that my uncle owns clear view auto glass and he told he he is good friends with the owner of special interest auto. I reached out to my uncle Emery Smith to see if he could speak with the owner of this body shop and see why I am being treated so poorly. I run a business and customer service is our #1. I want my Lexus back and I want something for the way I was treated. I have no idea what the hold up is on my car and I want it back from this shop. They received my car on July 19th and it is August 13th and they still have not even been able to give me a full assessment of what the cost and full fixes will be on my car. I am very confused WHY it will take almost a full month JUST to figure out how to fix my car. I am so frustrated I have turned to this form of complaining. NOW here is what should be done. I want SOMETHING from the body shop. I want a check written to me and not the insurance company for the stress this has put on me. I want a phone call from the body shop like I have asked for every time I have to call in. I want you to treat your costumers with kindness and care as you have peoples cars that they LOVE very much. You need to not loss peoples cars. You need to move your employees top get the job completed in a timely manner NOT almost one month to even start working on my car. I want my car back asap completely fix in perfect condition before it was damaged. Do not rush on my car because you have been slow that is not my fault it is your fault so fix my car right and give it back to me. I am so so frustrated. I am also writing the insurance company that recommended this body shop and I am writing a BBB complete. I am also going to the attorney general.
