I am consistently impressed with Glen and the Spec-1 team's knowledge and talent working with motorcycles. I had an accident where I was hit at slow speed on my M/C, bending the forks. Not only did Glen find a really good price on new forks (much lower than I was able to find after hours online), but also replaced and aligned them for a reasonable price in a reasonable amount of time. They also pointed out that my springs were designed for a person a hundred pounds lighter than me. I asked them to replace the springs as well, and I cannot express how much better my motorcycle corners and I have much more confidence riding. I have had to use other motorcycle mechanics at other times due to location or scheduling, but this place is always my first choice. I dont always need repairs on my CBR, but when i do, i go to Spec-1. These guys are legit. This is the only place i go to get work done on my bike. Very professional and fair prices. Paid a ton for a checkup at my local dealer and they didn't even fix the problems I spefically told them about. Spec 1 fixed the problems in a cinch and charged very little for them since I was getting an oil change and changing my clutch and brake levers anyways. The adjustments on the levers were spot on and they did everything in under an hour. Only downside is there is no coffee shop or restaurant nearby to wait for the repairs - but there is cycle gear which you can check out stuff while waiting. Best Moto repair shop (or any mechanic shop) I have been to. Nothing fancy in terms of their shop or work space, just great service- these guys go out of their way. In an effort to save cost (and elevate me from mechanical neophyte) I wanted to take on some of the work i thought i could handle myself. Without question or complaint, they understood my plight and showed me what to do at home. I returned to my garage and was only able to finish half the project. I went back a couple days later and they did the troubleshooting for me- at no additional cost....While I was there. They will make their money back from me though- after that level of service and care I am sold and a customer until the day they close or my wife sells my bikes...I know parting with cash at this place is money wisely and well spent. I've had 4 bikes that I've taken to this shop and I've never had a more then excellent experience. Even when I brought a 1997 cbr 600f3 here that had all kinds of problems, that had recurring issues they were willing to help work through all the issues that came up and tried to help with every question I had along the way. My bike was idling rough and not kicking like a 600 should. So I took it in for a carb rebuild and a valve adjustment. my hats off to spec 1 I brought my spark aresstor to them for pepacking because my Kawi was hard to start, I did not know what was wrong but I thought it had been ten years that arrestor was on my bike without service, that must be the problem, The guys said check your pilot jet, I bet its gummed up from sittin around Sure enough, there was a tiny hole throuh it when I took it out, But after I squirted it with carb cleaner it was 3 times bigger My Kawi is lovin it!!! Heard that this place is good and what I've read on yelp I'll give them a try. I took my 07 CRF450X that had a knock noise and thought it might be time for a new top end 9/4 Wednesday, after Glen & Joe checked it out it was worse then i thought. 3 days later 9/7 Saturday, Joe called and already tore the bike down and found a broken gear in the trans as well as other parts that needed to be replaced, in short Joe said to fix the bike it would coast $2400. bucks! wow I was not expecting this, so I went down to see for myself. Sure enough the Joe showed me the parts and I ok'd the work and Joe said he'd order the parts and the bike should be ready 9/20 Friday? I even gave $1000.deposit thinking it might speed things up, 2 weeks (seems kinda long?) Well Joe called me on 9/18 Wednesday and said after looking at the cost, the final cost is a little lower..$2200.humm..ok, that's good thing!? Well Friday came and no call? There closed Sun,Mon, So I called 9/24 Tuesday and Joe said all but 1 part is here (shifter fork) it should be in this week and the bike should be ready next Friday 9/27? By now the part should come in and the bike ready to ride...right? Noop, I called and the part still hasn't come in...Damm...WTH, Joe said he'd call GpSorts to see where's the part...ok what can I do? this sucks! Joe Called 9/28th Saturday, the part came it and the bike will be ready on 10/1 Tuesday...wow from 9/7 parts ordered to 9/28, 22 days for 1 little shifter fork? I think someone dropped the ball? I would have given 4 stars if it didn't take soo long. So after $2200.bucks and 28 days, a quick spin in the parking lot, the bike seems fine, now lets see how the bike does this Saturday at HH and I'll give an update next week ~Regards Mike A read more

This review is for the three visits I had with this store. I cannot comment on the quality of the repair work a lot (hence the 2 stars), but I can talk about the mindset of the mechanics in the store. The first time I was in this store was for a tire replacement for my Ninja 250. Simple enough procedure I assumed so didn't want to shop around. They quoted $650 for the whole thing, trying to sell me the OEM tires for retail (I think around $300) and 3 hours labor and alignment. I was shocked at the amount, didn't really think much about it and went elsewhere and had the same work done for $350. The second time around (you might ask why I came here again after the first time, the reason is because it is so close), I was looking to have my chain adjusted and lubed after a trip. The guy said that the chain has to be replaced because of the uneven slack and started getting a quote for me, even though I didn't ask for it. He quoted freaking $850 for sprocket and chain replacement and fluid replacements. At this moment I could see in his eyes that he thought I was a newbie because of my small Ninja, and he was trying to scare me into having the job done. I didn't mind because I knew I had some life left in the chain and I knew the cost would be nowhere near that (just for reference, I replaced with a very high quality chain off Amazon in a local shop, the total cost was less than $200). The thing that pissed me off to no end was the fact that I paid the guy $20 for my adjustment and lubing, and during all the quoting and the sales pitch that he did in between, he didn't adjust the chain or lube it! He spent a total of 2 mins on the bike, and around 20 mins on his sale. So, in other words, if you are not familiar with motorcycle repair costs and you are looking for a good value shop, THIS IS NOT THE ONE. The guys here, especially if they sense that you are not an experienced rider, try to take whatever you have in your pocket. My overall recommendation is stay away, there are at least 3 shops in the area that are way better shops than this in the valley, I am not going to name them but try to find them. read more

I took my 2003 Honda xr50 here for service since it was running a little sluggish. The previous owner didn't take good care of it so it was basically sitting in storage for a while. I din't make any appointment. I just came by on a Saturday morning and dropped it off. They told me that they wouldn't be able to work on it till Wednesday, which I was fine with since I wasn't in no hurry. So when Wednesday came around I gave them a call to check the status and they confirmed they just finished working on it. I'm not sure who I spoke with but he explained to me what they did (i.e cleaned the carbs & changed the oil) and he told me that it's running perfect! He was right because when I got home I tried it out and it definitely ran better than before. The total cost for service came out to $88.00 bucks. Next time I'm in need of a service, I'm going back to Spec-1 for sure! read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR BIKE HERE if you're looking for quality, ethical, professional service. This place is not it!!!! However, if you feel like getting ripped off of your hard earned money, and getting really shitty quality repair service, and then completely ignored after the fact, well then sucker, this is the place for you!!! If I could give a negative star rating, I would be giving this place -4 stars. I brought my '07 Ninja ZX6R for some moderate service to be done. Long story short, had to bring the bike back 3 times after the service was done. 1) wrong head gasket installed - leaked oil everywhere. 2) Did not do the service I paid this place for. As a matter of fact, the bike sounds and runs worse than before I took it here. 3) They broke and or damaged parts of the bike and scratched the paint in a few spots while in their so called care. 4) After being charged over $785.00 for the services that were done really incompetently, I advised "glen" the service manager that the bike was not right, runs like shit, and has broken parts on it that need to be replaced and reinstalled on no less than 4 occasions...did I ever get a call back to bring the bike back in...NOPE!!! Glen has chosen to ignore my requests and their chance, to make things right again. Not one single call back. That's about as unprofessional as a service mgr can get. So again, if you like being taken for a ride for over $780, and have your bike run and sound worse than before taking it here, be my guest chump!! read more
