The joint has character, and long ties to the small community of Harwick. The current incarnation of "Bear's" was established by two brothers 44 years ago. The hand carved back bar probably goes back to the first bar here, which was probably (?) established between prohibition and mid-century? A big part of the attraction of dive bar lies in the patrons it attracts, and I came here early on a weekday when no one else was there; so any observations on that will have to wait for future visits. The whole place was kind of flat and non descript, just a cold waiting room. The fried corn turned out to be not worth the effort or the price. For $4.19, I got about 5 slices of corn, with maybe 3 rows of corn on each one. The spice was hot and heavy, completely overtaking any corn flavor. The fries were about average at $3.49. They were also average in flavor, not bad but certainly not great. The chicken gave me the same feeling. I'm not sure the meal was worth $16 for what I got. Some of the chicken was fine, but about half of the pieces were small lumps, and just not that good. The seasoning was acceptable, but there was nothing that hit me as outstanding or worth double digit prices. A little customer service would have gone a long way. As it is, I wouldn't go back and couldn't recommend it to anyone else.

Honestly, this garlic parmesan was probably the best I've ever had. They put garlic butter on the wings and then sprinkle parmesan cheese over them. This is so different than most parmesan garlic sauces and I was very happy with it. The pricing seemed fair for a small town as well.
