I called the company to ask questions about the amplifiers and receivers that they stock, but the guy wouldn't give me the intormation because I was trying to use the amplifier outside of an auto application. It seemed like his brain couldn't fathom the possibility, and he just was stubborn enough to cost them a sale. I've done a ton of research and was planning to use it for an outdoor system that I have. I was planning to supply it with sufficient wattage of 12 V DC power, which is the same as a car battery, and I was going to put a fuse on it just like you would in a car. I also checked the speaker impedances, the gauges of the wires, and I know the max power that I could put through the speakers. I also didn't say anything about warranties or anything like that, so there was no reason why they didn't sell me the parts. He didn't mention any reason why he wouldn't provide the info, he would just comment that I should go look elsewhere, which was really bizarre if I was only on the phone with him for about two minutes. They should remedy their staffing issues. UPDATE: The "owner" apparently left a reply, shown in quotes below, where he rants in full caps like a lunatic politician and goes on about "FAKE REVIEWS" (which rhymes with what he hears on TV apparently). The reality is I did call the business and got the bad service that I describe, which compelled me to warn others. He was rude, he did not give me info, and he did tell me to look somewhere else despite it being an otherwise normal question. I called multiple businesses and while a couple didn't know the answers, others said it was a normal question they get and suggested options. "Ray" was rude, and needs to find a way to manage his emotions lest he continue to run his business with temper tantrums and poor service that he apparently forgets about days later. Be nice Ray, be nice. Wait, in your language, "BE NICE RAY, BE NICE!!!!!!1!!" "Hello Jimmy, My name is Ray. I am the owner of Speaker works. The review you left is totally fake. I am the only person who answers all the phone calls here. I never received any phone call with such questions asking for an amplifier to be sold for an outside environment application. If you look at all of our reviews, you could see that we do not have customer service like that. So for you to say that we have staffing issues Was totally uncalled for. I have never questioned anybody's ability to install their own equipment. SO ONCE AGAIN... THIS IS ANOTHER FAKE REVIEW!!! PLEASE READ ALL THE OTHER REVIEWS AND YOU WILL SEE THAT WE GO ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR OUR CUSTOMERS." read more

The guys here are amazing and they do not leave any stones unturned. They make my car sound like a gorilla trying to escape my trunk haha! I brought my wakeboard boat to speaker Works and they did an absolutely amazing job. The sound is incredible now. Speaker Works customer service was top-notch all the way from responding to my messages via Yelp to helping me back the boat out of their parking lot onto the busy street. They were even kind enough to give me a ride to a great lunch spot so that I could keep my boat trailer hooked up to my truck. I highly recommend speaker Works. read more

Called Speaker Works and spoke to Ray about the used car I purchased for my daughter and he told me to swing on by and he could take a look same day and see what we could do to upgrade the head unit and add a backup camera. I went down and he took a look and told me it wouldn't be an issue, and then showed us various products we could select and pros and cons of each. Ray wasn't rushing us at all, he took the time to make sure we got what we were looking for in our price range. I left the car with them and picked it up the next day and was super impressed! Looks like it was factory installed and works great. My daughter loves it! If you are looking for a shop that isn't big on the sales pitch but is big on customer service and making sure you love their work, this is the spot. read more

If you're looking for an absolute professional and completely knowledgeable car audio shop, Speakerworks is the place to go. I had a very poorly installed system in my 2023 Civic Si and brought it to several places. When I brought it to Ray at Speakerworks, I got real answers with real solutions. I went from a system that sounded like a tin can to what now sounds like a concert hall. Ray even went above and beyond and got me taken care of with sound deadening on all doors and trunk. My custom amp rack is neatly tucked into the storage space next to my spare tire under the trunk carpet. He even hardwired my existing dash cam to get rid of my "plug" that was in the cigarette lighter space. Was this project cheap, not by any means, but had I gone somewhere else it would have been way more costly. I can without any doubt recommend Ray and Speakerworks. If you're looking for true professionals, who know exactly what they're doing and will work with you and get you exactly what you need then go see Ray. You won't regret anything! read more

Speaker Works is legit! I took my 2025 F250 in to get a subwoofer installed, and the workmanship is fantastic -- super clean with high-quality parts. Rey took the time to call me several times and went over different options for the build before starting the work, which I really appreciated. I could not be happier with the work performed or the sound quality. Speaker Works is the only place I will be going to from now on. I couldn't recommend them enough! read more

They use the proper tools and do not take short-cuts. Mario the tech who worked on my car knows his stuff. A real technician and not some monkey. I came in because I saw all the reviews and I wanted to upgrade my car audio. The owner (I forgot his name) was very professional and attentive to my requests on what I was looking for. Ray and the Speaker Works staff are nothing less than phenomenal. I first encountered Ray three years ago to upgrade the sound and stereo of my 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible. During our first interaction, I bombarded Ray with many questions regarding prices, custom work, recommendations and best brands to use as I was very new to improving the quality of sound in my vehicles. He was very patient, informative, and overall made me feel very welcomed into his business. Most recently, I brought in my 2004 Ford Excursion for similar work and it was the same great experience all over again. Thank you Ray and the Speaker Works staff for all of the great work and helping me build my cars beyond my satisfaction. I will be coming back for more upgrades! read more

Waited a couple weeks to do this. I brought in a 2008 Chevy avalanche and knew nothing about this kind of thing. Thankfully, Ray was able to be very patient with me and walk me through everything. I ended up getting brand new speakers, a backup camera and Apple CarPlay at a very reasonable price. Ray really helped me out. I cannot recommend enough just through Ray's acts of kindness and patience. Can't recommend this spot enough! read more

I just had a complete system installed by Ray and his crew at Speaker Works. This is my second full system upgrade done by them. I'll start off by stating that, in my opinion, having more than 6 vehicles have systems installed into them in the last twenty years, the quality of workmanship, cleanliness and overall customer satisfaction with Ray is second to none. I have TRIED to find one thing I'm not 100% satisfied with and I have not been able to. This install was set to be a relatively mid budget upgrade. I explained to Ray my cost constraints and he made it his mission to get me within my budget. Already knowing his shop and their quality of work, I was very happy to move forward. If this was just reviewing Speaker Works as a shop who installs awesome gear, they're a 10/10. No questions asked, I would refer anyone and everyone I know to Ray. Now, I will detail why Ray as a person is a 10/10 human being. We made a deal on Tuesday, myself understanding that it would most likely be a week or two before he could do the install, as it's a full two day job. Ray contacts me that night, advises he had a rescheduled job and if I wanted to, he could fit me in the NEXT DAY. I advised him that I would love to do this, however, my work schedule is an early start. Ray then offers to have my drop my truck off at his shop at 630am, three hours before they open and then give me a ride to the work...WHO DOES THIS? I cannot say enough about this guy. Lastly, sound deadening is very important to me for not only sound, but ride quality. I paid for all doors to be sound deadened and I should preface this with knowing how solid a job these guys do with sound deadening. Ray also completely matted the back hatch of my 4Runner and upgraded the factory hatch speakers at no additional charge. I'll end this review by saying if quality of work, quality of product and overall kindness of a human being are what determines where you do business, I challenge anyone to find someone better than Ray and Speaker Works. read more

Highly recommended Ray and his team for their services. I was in a jam with a device in my car and while I could tell he had other jobs going on and customers coming in and out, Ray took the time to listen to my issue, speak to a rep on the phone, jump my car when it died and get me back in the following day to fix the issue. He was kind and explained the steps they had to take to make it right. His prices are fair and being a young woman who doesn't know much about vehicles I felt respected during this process! read more

I think its rare to find a good audio store now a days. I went to a different audio store in the area, and had a number of problems afterwards. My speakers were not working in my car so I brought it to Speaker Works to check it out. Went to Ray a couple months ago to get a new stereo in my daughters Mazda 3. He went over every cost and part needed and sent pictures of everything he did. Very upfront about costs and was always prompt with calling back and texting. She just had an issue with Apple CarPlay and Ray switched out the radio and put in a new rear camera as well and went over specific chargers to use etc. Excellent service! So i bought a 12 inch sub off facebook marketplace (bad idea). I went here to get it installed, then i found out the sub i bought was broken (it was not visibly broken btw). The person on facebook who sold me the sub said to go back and get the wiring checked out before they refund me. I called Ray and he told me it was no problem to come and get it checked out for no extra cost. We switched out the subs with another one to confirm the subwoofer itself was broken as it was. It was nice to have them check it out purely out of good customer service. 10/10 experience read more

Took my son's car back for full audio install after just the stereo install Speaker Works did last month. We surprised our son for his birthday with new speakers . The sound is amazing. I went to purchase a new stereo for my truck. Upon arriving, the person at the front didn't seem to know which stereo would fit and work with my truck. I was asked to write down my information, and they said they would contact me when someone with more experience was available. I didn't receive a call or text until two days later, and even then, they confused me with another customer, asking why I hadn't shown up. I got a bad vibe after that, so I ended up going somewhere else. Overall, the experience was unprofessional and a waste of time. read more

Super disappointed with the service from this place. I walked in the first time and it took over 10 minutes for someone to even say hello to me. Then I agreed to have these guys install and front and rear dash cam on my truck and when I came back the next day to pick it up they never touched it. I took an Uber from Costa Mesa only to find my truck was never touched.
